  • hi

  • the sound was a bit.. off. Understanding this is local theater, I would hope that you realize you are making this version of CATS in a fashion that is disrespectful to T.S. Eliott and to Furries

  • @ryoohki - As I stated earlier to another who posted somewhat negative comments, please do not just throw in negative comments without at least some sort of explanation as to why the negativity. How is this disrespectful to T.S. Eliot (only 1 t in the last name by the way - talk about disrespect) and to Furries? I don't mind constructive criticism. In fact, I welcome it. Otherwise how else can one improve? But to just simply bash for no real reason is uncalled for.

  • @troysk1 TSE never wanted something that looked cartoon-like, tacky or anything like that. It took alot of negotiation on ALW's part to even get permission to use the book of poetry.

  • @ryoohki - Thank you for your explanation. This I can respect and accept (for the most part). I was not aware of the drawn out negotiation process for ALW to even get permission to use the book of poetry. As far as being cartoon-like, tacky, or anything like that I guess comes down to those who truly appreciate poetry on it's written level and are more left to their own imagination for imagery vs. those who truly appreciate the theatre for it's interpretation.

  • Actually, this was Andrew Lloyd Webber's version of Cats. It was just not put on the video because of John Mills (Gus) age at the time of the video. He was not up to the physical challenges faced for portraying the role of Growltiger.

  • Why is this song not in Andrew Lloyd Webber's version of Cats?

  • the voices the quite familiar

  • I have no idea why people are hating on the singing ! This is absolutely wonderful, they hit the notes perfectly ! I love this :D

  • From all the cats broadway show, why wasn't this shown? yes, it really wasn't... I wonder why

  • this is really good!

  • That is utterly awesome!!!! The instrumentals were great, and Griddlebone had a beautiful voice! I wish my theater could put on Cats, but all the people are two old and slow to want to cope with energetic songs and actors.

  • Oh my gosh - two spotlights??!!! LUCKY!!!!!

  • I loved the way you did the tails, it looks so natural when they crawl. <3 And that it was all produced on a local theathre make it all more impressive. Johan.

  • Our production was much better. The choreographer was in it ON BROADWAY.

    ~ sorry ~

  • @Emary7890 - Ok again, this was a LOCAL theatre group and did not have the luxury NOR the FINANCES to hire a choreographer that was in it on Broadway.

  • 'Ok, I got the title wrong! And yes, at the production I saw (US tour), the did Growltiger and DID NOT perform Pekes and Pollicles. I have heard from many other people who was cats live that they do one of these two, not both.'

Some may have thought this because in the DVD/Video there is is no Growltiger but this is because the actor was blind.

  • I'm going to see this in two weeks and really hope they do Growltiger instead of The Awful Battle of the Perks and Peakinese. Growltiger is a mini Opera! It's my favorite part of Cats

  • Pekes and Pollicles not Perks and Peakinese

  • When I saw it they did both and I was very disappointed to find it missing when I got the video. Oh and it's the Pekes and the Pollicles by the way.

  • you mean Pekes and the Pollicles?? lol!! and Awful Battle is WAAAAAAY better! plus they aren't in substitution for each other, where did you pull that from??

  • Ok, I got the title wrong! And yes, at the production I saw (US tour), the did Growltiger and DID NOT perform Pekes and Pollicles. I have heard from many other people who was cats live that they do one of these two, not both.

  • this is a local theatre group?? Amazing and great!! Wonderful job!

  • This is great. We did this at our local children's theatre group. The costumes are amazing, as are the voices and choreography.

Were you in this show? Which character are you?

I was Tumblebrutus/Bill Bailey in my production.

  • The voices were magnificent !

  • Very well done given the resources available to a local theater group. Actually this could actually be better than the one I saw in Toronto a few years back, the singing wasn't very good.

  • The guy that played growl tiger sings wonderfuly! *two thumbs up*

  • probably the best recording on youtube... thanks!

  • Not the best costumes but great job! I wish Griddlebone faced the audience more though :) This is one of my favourite parts...

  • Set is kinda bad, but choreography looks VERY cool! ^^

  • I like hwo you did the Last stand.

  • fart meow!

  • JELLYLORUM!!

  • Wow that was great, I'd love to have a copy of this on DVD. ((For trade of course b/c of the copyright law)) but yall did a great job.

  • PS the costumes look good. If any one is going to criticize costumes jobs of cats production, they should see the costumes used for the first production in london!

  • This looks like it was well done. Most community theaters cut this part out. I love this part of the musical thanks for sharing.

  • I love it! I first saw CATS in 1990. Growltiger's aria is my favorite out of the whole show and I would rewind the tape over and over just to listen to it!

I think these people did a great job!

  • Please keep in mind this is a local theatre group and not a broadway production. I know these people personally and know that they put forth quite an effort for this production. You are entitled to your opinion, however, if you are going to be negative, have something or some clout to back it up. Thanks

  • @troysk1 Well said. I was looking for this part in the play, with the "In Quella Tepida Notte" performance, instead of the ballad of Billy McCaw. I once chose this song for an audition. Sure, this is not a Broadway production, and the video and audio recording are not of very high quality, but the performance comes across very powerful. I was impressed with the actors' voice. Please thank your friends. I give them two thumbs up!

  • why dont u sing then?

  • I think the singing (although isnt amazing) is certainly very good for community theatre. Well done

  • FANTASTIC. As catwomanjellicle said, the costumes need some work, but the singing, acting, dancing and physicality way make up for it.

  • Very good Job! Very, very, very good!

  • This is the only good showe of growtiger's last stand that exists on youtube lol

  • Try mine.

  • when my other account wasn't suspended, I had a pro vid up.

  • o= Dude!

  • Yeah I have a few.

  • i wish growltiger's last stand was on the dvd coz its brilliant, u guys did a reli gr8 job, well dun

  • dancing and singin was awesome but costumes weren't to appealing.

  • Actually, it was somewhat of a poor video job as the camera is very old and not hooked into the sound board for better quality audio either, but the costumes actually took quite a bit. Each of the CATS costumes were made by hand from nothing. I know the video doesn't show it that well, but the coverings were actually crocheted. (sp?)

  • @catwomanjellicle I agree with you!

  • good job my friends
