omg I thought I was going to hear the song!! shut the F up!!! This song is not on you tube the original version!!!! aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrgggh how annoying, I thought I found it and a white guy is talking right through it sigh.....
.I would say that Ray, Chuck Berry, and Etta James cut the road Otis was just the man who put the pavement down. I saw him at age -3 months. Mom was 6 months pregnant, also saw him at 9 months. I search from every source I can find for his music. In my 43 years I have yet to find any artist that could touch Otis as a total package. Better singers yeah, better dancers yeah, but better overall performers I haven't found. So much soul in the music he left us in just 5 years & from a man 21 to 26
He was on the cusp of being the first Black super star who appealed to both white and Black audiences.
He paved the way for Stevie Wonder and Micheal Jackson, Without Otis they would have strugled to be recognised. The saddest thing i ever saw was his body being pulled from the lake still strapped to his plane seat. God bless the man
In the R&R era Sam Cooke was the first Black super star. He had several million sellers, appeared on the "Tonight Show", controlled his own publishing, owned successful record company, had one of the first million dollar recording contracts and was RCA's biggest selling artist after Elvis Presley. Otis was striving for the same kind of artistic control of his career. In fact Sam was one of his artistic and business idols. Otis left his family well provided for.
Not only was Sam Cooke Otis's idol, Otis included one Sam Cooke song on all his albums. And the spooky part? Otis died the same day as Sam exactly three years apart.
