Thank you for your comment, Phateach13. However, I think you are missing the bigger point of the kids' statements. They want learning to look like the authentic type of learning and communicating that they already do. It has nothing to do with wanting to avoid working or receiving credit for nothing, and it certainly doesn't have to put more work on the teacher. The "old way" has been proven inadequate at imparting the types of 21st century skills our students need. Their world is not ours.
Maybe the students could just stay home and do nothing but test and play on their computers and the teachers can do all the work and write the tests for the kids too. Imagine all the whole class gets 100% and they didn'teven have to show up!
Maybe kids should buckle down and grind it out the 'old way' and learn some work ethic. As a teacher, I DO NOT want to be texted on MY OWN private time with a question about the test the next day!
