The reason it's whistle squeals is because the whistle came off of a factory in Downtown Wilmington. The engine obviously uses a higher steam pressure than the whistle originally used.
Well the guy on the left is a good friend of mine and this was a rushed shot so there was not much time to prepare so we all kinda shot what we could..lol
Err...one of those two "dorks" is actually a long time volunteer and engineer for the W&W, who is also the "official" W&W Railroad Photographer, and owns some equipemnt down there too.
Why was there a white or yellow light on the back side of the crossbuck?

me either, its was sold and awaiting funds about 2 years ago and sat there untouched slowly being reclaimed by the elements. sad to see.

I'd say it is is a good whistle for an American. W&W 0-6-0 #58 has a really nice whistle for a Slopeback Switcher.
