  • Why was there a white or yellow light on the back side of the crossbuck?

  • @Megahammerheadshark That light lets the locomotive crew that the crossings are working.

  • Steam Train. Cool. ;)

  • Yup, good old steam..!!

  • there's Eddy

  • Yup..lol

  • fun engineer to work with, but i have never seen the guy he is standing with before, unless its a random guy or something

  • The other guy is my friend Steve who used to be fireman on 2-8-2T 37 years ago..

  • that was a litle while back, now that engine is just sitting on a stub in marshallton waiting shipment funds to CA. might start doing a cosmetic restore of a bottle engine we have sitting on #1 track for a station display

  • I don't think 37 is going anywhere anytime soon..

  • me either, its was sold and awaiting funds about 2 years ago and sat there untouched slowly being reclaimed by the elements. sad to see.

  • Yeah well it will be sitting there for a while..

  • Steve P. Yes, he volunteered for a good while...I seem to recall he even married his wife down at the railroad. Been a long time since I have seen him around the W&W.

  • Yeah we don't make it up there much..

  • I miss old 37

  • Oh yeah??

  • that whistle sounds like a Valley RR loco.

  • I see..

  • The reason it's whistle squeals is because the whistle came off of a factory in Downtown Wilmington. The engine obviously uses a higher steam pressure than the whistle originally used.

  • Interesting..

  • actually i looked close and i think its a 4-4-0.

  • You are right it is a 4-4-0 American..lol

  • I would've told those dorks to get out of your shot.

  • Well the guy on the left is a good friend of mine and this was a rushed shot so there was not much time to prepare so we all kinda shot what we could..lol

  • Err...one of those two "dorks" is actually a long time volunteer and engineer for the W&W, who is also the "official" W&W Railroad Photographer, and owns some equipemnt down there too.

  • Well my friend Steve is the guy on the left. He did volunteer on the W&W firing 2-8-2T 37 many years ago, but he does not own any equipment..

  • Wonderful soundin whistle on that locomotive, never heard one with a sqeel quite like that before!!!Gotta luv it!=)

  • I'd say it is is a good whistle for an American. W&W 0-6-0 #58 has a really nice whistle for a Slopeback Switcher.
