  • Magneto would have a ball with this stuff...

  • BUT!.... WILL IT BLEND?

  • Good vid ! More Tesla tech in "Wonderful electric lightinn" bu HorizonDelta ;-)

  • I don't suppose this stuff is safe to touch/easy to make? I know it's just oil and iron fragments but what's the soapy stuff that makes it cling together called? I just discovered this stuff tonight and I'm utterly enthralled by it.

  • what would be cool is to connect a series of electromagnets in a bath of ferrofluid to a speaker system (I.E. 3 magnets, bass, treble, and a mix of both, and the bass is a huge magnet, and the get smaller as higher notes) and then to wire it up so that they would magnetize as the inputs are higher, and then play music through it, so it would be a visual music thingy.

  • Ferrofluid is not that different to water. You can't modulate movement at audio frequency. You can at perhaps 1-2 Hz but not 1 kHz because with any degree of excursion you will get splash and a lot of mess. You could audio modulate to volume though.

  • Yeah, I was meaning with volume, but it each could be tuned to a frequency, so it's not the overall volume of the music, just certain parts.

  • @Tesladownunder not with audio with the magnetic pulses of the magnet on the speaker.

  • @Tesladownunder thats kinda what he said though since hes suggesting hooking up electromagnetism intensity to speaker output.

  • @pomeroy600287 I agree with Tesladownunder's statement about it making a mess if you tried to do that....HOWEVER....if you had the Ferrofluid immersed in another liquid (I've seen this done lots of times before....you'll have to google around to find out what is used, and how they do it exactly) a kind of clear oily liquid...then it should keep the spashing down.

  • looks like the bg on the ps3 lol

  • looks like a creature swimming from :48 to 1:19

  • @Logan455655

Its the mix of a Jellyfish and a Half-Life Headcrab...xD

  • what is the music ! ??

  • i just thought , another strainge property of the rodin coil is that if you hook the coil up to an sterio and play some music through it , a solid state speaker is created when a magnet is placed near to the coil, now .. think of the syncronisation you would see in the feofluid when the magnetic field is whats making the sound . you would see the geometry of the music .... :O

    thanks again.

  • i want to see a rodin coil under some ferofluid !

the magnetic vortex created by the rodin coil would not only look amazing but it may help in finding out more about the properties of the new coil. the rodin coil is a must see.

thank you for all your videos , i adore to watch tesla enthusiast. and you are high up in my list of pionears...

    many thanks

  • brilliant !

  • 2:00 BOOBS!!!

  • The small one ate the large one! Then it laughed and dissolved!

  • your such a dumbass

  • wow your stupid

  • @JakeDusangTM

cmon... this is fake... i know that... i have seen serveral fake shoops like this one in my life.

  • its real

    not fake.

  • @JakeDusangTM

    give me a proof faggot.

  • just look up ferrofluid on youtube, its everywhere

all it is is some metal ink put in cooking oil

the ink has metal particles in it and they attract to the magnet forming those wierd designes

  • @JakeDusangTM

yeah i can do it on the computer with my graphic card and some programs.

  • oh nicee, should make a vid and post it on youtube man

  • hhaha yeah that would b nice! with programs and shit yeah and a computer, ect

  • It actually is real, you can make this stuff yourself even. just look up how to make ferro fluid- it's quite simple actually

  • I wonder what would occur if you used this behind the double slit experiment?

  • this idea was wonderful in concept.

    and then the music happened

  • I was thinking the same thing, lol. Its like 80's club... ugh

  • The music makes me smile.

  • i think ferrofluids is a pretty cool guy. eh defies physics and doesn't afraid of anything

  • ?? how does it defy physics?

  • Shut up.

  • Why because it dosent disobey the laws of physics?

its just -nm10 iron (or any ferrous metal)

a surfactant (like soap....you could actulay probbaly use soap to make it i dont know)

    and

    water (or a water substitute)

  • I was trolling, fag.

  • what the fuck is trolling?

Is that some kind of refrence to your fugly face?

  • Fucking retard.

  • Ha, you didnt even have a come back, and mine was a bad come back.....LOL thats pathetic.

  • I don't need a comeback. I'm a troll.

  • nice soundtrack!

    what is its name?

  • how can you make it? i would love to test some out

  • You Can Use This As Visual To Teach About Viruses ^^ Just A Tought, ^^

  • It looks drinkable...Drink it!Die a winner!

  • It is based on mineral oil which is a horse laxative so you won't die. You will have black lips and diarrhea for a couple of days.

  • That sounded funny :D

  • it looks alien or alive

  • Just to let you know if this stuff get on you it will stain your skin and the only way to get it off is by peeling/removing the layers of affected skin. so if you knew that this would stain your skin then you wouldn't try any of your bright ideas that dealt with touching it.

  • They should build a big bath tube with that. It would be cool to have jakuzi massage with it.

  • yeah thay stuff stains skin and you become magnetic :P

  • scratch that, I just found a video with someone with a setup with audio input ... but the results were very subtle.... he didnt use a LARGE magnet like my idea ... i mean a HUGE LoudSpeaker magnet. :D

  • I just realized... would it not be possible to use a loudspeaker's magnet actually connected to some music to creat some patterns ... i think that could be cool (ohh, shit, I hope i'm not the first one who thought of it and just gave my idea away to some other go-getter artist/scientist's out there :P )

  • I wish they could talk, them spikeballs...

  • oh them spikeballs.

  • i would like to see someone touch those spikes with fingers... i wonder what happens, what does it feel like!

  • it´s a fluid, it feels like a fluid...

  • you get iron poisoning haha

  • someone should make a machiene that brings a magnet closer and farther from the fluid to the tune of music

  • For lots more about Ferro-Fluid - search for the video"When I Met This Material"

  • Doesn't it get stuck if you touch it?

  • Its just like any other dirty black oil.

  • It looks like some creature trying to get out of the fluid. Like that episode of Star Trek: TNG with that fluid creature that kills Lt. Tasha Yarr.

  • Awesome

  • Ferrofluid costs about $80 for 200ml. Lots on eBay.

The liquid can't be moved at faster than a few hertz without splashing so can't used over speakers directly.

  • TDU rocks! Did you buy this ferrofluid, or make it yourself?

    How much did it cost?

p.s. I'd like to see this placed over a speaker and see the coils making it pulse to music
