Wow. I live right there. People have always used this area to commit suicide by train. I remember just a few years ago when a young woman in her third trimester of pregnancy jumped in front of a train just north of Hollywood Blvd early one morning. Unfortunately people that have lived around here for so many years have become accustomed to it. Just another news story.
years ago when my dad worked for the city of compton . they had a guy put his head down on the rail. and ironically it was two blocks from the police station. no cops anywhere beforehand
why did they send out the c.s.u.? not like the crew intentionally hit the guy the dumbass wouldnt move out of their way hear the engineer say it himself
Definently not the way I'd want to go. You could feel the traumazitation in the engineer's voice at the very beginning. I don't think most people truly realize how gut-wrenching it is for the crew when they hit something. Very nice catch. I also wouldn't want the job of having to remove (or should I say scraping) the remains up off the track and everywhere else.
Intresting video, Ted. Great work here. Trespassers seem to be somewhat of a pandemic to the railroads. So many times I hear of Tri-Rail trains hitting people and vehicles, and just last week an Amtrak hit a car in Indiantown.
@greenbean78 F the victim's family. they should pay restitution to the taxpayers for wasting all of those emergency service, the railroad for lost time and revenue and the crew for emotional damage. Oh and me for wasting 11:25 and not getting to see their mangled loved one.
Great catch, Ted. Keep up the great videos. L188-04 hit a guy that was on the tracks saturday night so man FEC and CSX both hit a trespasser that day. Thats just crazy.

Who the hell sits on railroad tracks? We aren't talking La-Z-Boy here.
Oh well, more chlorine for the gene pool. They should hang what's left of trespassers at railroad crossings as an important safety message.

That is one of your nightmares as an engineer!

Yeah Cory, I read about that incident. It seems to be a growing trend - people using the railroad to end their lives. Thanks for the comment.

Thats too bad-

It sure is. Instead of catching 226 followed closely by 107 highballing through Hollywood, I got this. :-(

sitting on the rail sounds very much like suicide to me, how could it be called anything else, I feel for the train crew
pwalpar 1 year ago 6
I agree, Walter, it appears to be suicide. I too am sympathetic for the two guys forced to witness it happen. They're the real victims here.

@pwalpar I have to agree with you
