He's a blues based, not a blues guitarist. John mayer is more of a blues guitarist. Not playing favorites or anything. Aesthetically speaking, he's got way too much distortion and playing too many notes...shredding almost.

@sensai61 Hey! Syhpilis drip from your mommies taint...AESTHETICALLY was the key word. Not freaking dated 80's shredder guitarists with crazy distortion. Once again, John Mayer simple little licks does blues better in some ways that Gary Moore. Not that I idolize John, but he is a recent artist that gets blues and tone along with great, simple aesthetically pleasing phrases. So, I will not continue debating with a rude fool like you who gets a rise off of insults because of shortcomings.

@lazloleaf completely agree with you. I love richie sambora, but this video was tonally disgraceful. john mayer's continuum album was just phenomenal, his tone, lick vocabulary and soul is way ahead of other 'modern' blues artists. gary moore did shred at times, and his sound was more OVERDRIVEN then DISTORTED, there's a huge difference. but there's a big difference in GM's work than RS's in this video. BB King's clean guitar > Richie's distorted shite.
