Oh... in the Air Force they have the option of rolling up or leaving them down all year round as far as I know, but that may change later because they want everyone to look the same. They just phased out tan boots so now they all have to wear green boots.

The Army keeps ruining their uniforms; first the switch to wearing a wool, black beret that has NO practical purpose (doesn't shield the sun, and is horrible in the rain), and that God awful lime-green camo which doesn't blend in to anything. Now the service uniform... awful.
Go back to the World War II khaki (pinks and greens they were called)... bring back the tradition, bring back a time when we were a proud Army.
I fear that we are all missing the point here; this is a cost issue more than anything else. By "streamlining" the uniforms the DOD reduces production/distribution costs by a considerable margin. I personally would be a little more concerned with having enough Body armor, a reliable battle rifle, up-armored vehicles, NVG's,...not what i'm issued for a service uniform.
as a soldier, i would prefer the greens, but i'm open to the idea of wearing the blue uniform!!! also, my only lamentation about the ACU uniform is that the coat tail is TOO SHORT to the point that you can see a soldier's backside. when i was wearing the green fatigues, i did not have that problem!!! thank god for the ACU because i got tired of the extensive ironing(crease), and taking it to the cleaners(cooked white), LOL!!!!
Sorry but as a member of an Army family 4 generations, this is the worse idea ever! The public will confuse it with the Marine dress blues and the Air force, well they're the Air force and where is the unit patch? What about espirt de corp for the current assigned unit? The dress blues for formal occasions are great. It denotes an ocassion of honor, like guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier or Dinning Outs, Weddings, etc. but to reduce it to buisness dress?!

I like the classic green uniforms much more. When I think of the Army, I think of those uniforms. Now we have majority of the armed forces using blue dress which is no fun at all! LoL. I think a better idea if you want to change uniforms is to issue the new multicam uniforms rather than change the dress uniforms. Just my opinion, I liked the greens much more than the blues.

In my opinion, I love the greens a 1000x better than the new dress blues. I mean, if they really wanted to change the dress uniform, I would rather change from green to black than green to blue b/c black is a little more unique I guess. Not a fan of the change myself, I think they should focus more on changing the ACUs to multicam.
I think the digital BDU's are stupid they dont blend in to shit if u go into the forest u stand out like a sore thumb the "flower power" uniforms are the best the ones from the 80's and also the tiger stripe from Vietnam were the best camo throw digital out or make it like the Marine forest digital....
I personally think the WWII era Army dress uniforms were the best looking uniforms the Army put out. The overall brown color with the cresent like cap looked very sharp and very distinguished.
They did the same thing in the Canadian Forces in the 70s, was a totally stupid idea and waste of taxpayer money, they ended up changing back to separate uniforms a few years later, spending even more taxpayer money
I think they should keep the greens, it leaves the Army distinguishable from the other services (more like the other services distinguishable from the Army) but I don't know maybe blues will work out

@ROVIC111295 Whos talking about what JROTC wears, My unit still has the dress greens. The Blues have not been issued to us. suppose to be sometime this year. and like the resst of my unit save for Two. they agree. the Dress Blues just look bad. Looks like something that was made for the Air Force.

They'r not getting rid of the green uniform are they? because I'm a british soldier but when i was in the U.S training with the 4th battalion green berets i fucking admired and loved their green (on base, parade) uniform. please tell me their not ditching it for an air force type uniform? I'm not american but any soldier worldwide would never be caught dead in a blue uniform as it's an air force/. navy colour

@Glaswegianmark Aye they are getting rid of the greens. I just got told by my unit today that they are going to be issuing them out soon for are unit. I guess the Army thinks they need to go back to the Civil War era uniform. That is what I have been told. They want the traditional style. Still looks like an air force uniform. Alot of the guys actually want the old tan uniform as the dress uniform. but it does look like the blues are here to stay. Sucks I think they look ugly as all hell.

get your friends together and start a new civil war till your demands are met aha. but i always admired the US marine, US Army green dress. i heard obama's office is screwing up the military with cuts, firing guys with over 15/20 years experience without pension and cutting the budget. i have no problems with cutting down the military but doing it when we're in the middle of 3 fucking conflicts is just stupid.

The Army keeps ruining their uniforms; first the switch to wearing a wool, black beret that has NO practical purpose (doesn't shield the sun, and is horrible in the rain), and that God awful lime-green camo which doesn't blend in to anything. Now the service uniform... awful.
Go back to the World War II khaki (pinks and greens they were called)... bring back the tradition, bring back a time when we were a proud Army.

I fear that we are all missing the point here; this is a cost issue more than anything else. By "streamlining" the uniforms the DOD reduces production/distribution costs by a considerable margin. I personally would be a little more concerned with having enough Body armor, a reliable battle rifle, up-armored vehicles, NVG's,...not what i'm issued for a service uniform.

as a soldier, i would prefer the greens, but i'm open to the idea of wearing the blue uniform!!! also, my only lamentation about the ACU uniform is that the coat tail is TOO SHORT to the point that you can see a soldier's backside. when i was wearing the green fatigues, i did not have that problem!!! thank god for the ACU because i got tired of the extensive ironing(crease), and taking it to the cleaners(cooked white), LOL!!!!

Sorry but as a member of an Army family 4 generations, this is the worse idea ever! The public will confuse it with the Marine dress blues and the Air force, well they're the Air force and where is the unit patch? What about espirt de corp for the current assigned unit? The dress blues for formal occasions are great. It denotes an ocassion of honor, like guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier or Dinning Outs, Weddings, etc. but to reduce it to buisness dress?!

the greens look good if u have the old green combo cover like in forrest gump. berets are gay. the blue looks good but i still think a proper military uniform should have a high collar like the marine corps dress blues

ill tell you how it is, ya greens are great and blues too but who in the end pays for this new uniform the soldier. its expensive and we have well enough to pay for. Knowing also we dont get paid that much.Besides enstead of changing the dress why not change the ACU's, there only good for a stone quarry. i thought it was all about staying alive. Not to mention sending soldiers to wars that have nothing to do with defending the constitution. 19 US ARMY Prior.

I like the classic green uniforms much more. When I think of the Army, I think of those uniforms. Now we have majority of the armed forces using blue dress which is no fun at all! LoL. I think a better idea if you want to change uniforms is to issue the new multicam uniforms rather than change the dress uniforms. Just my opinion, I liked the greens much more than the blues.

These things look fugly with a beret. And with a maroon beret, it looks like a doorman's uniform. They ruined the Blues and got rid of the greens. Bad moves all. Glad I am no longer in and have to wear this get up.
How about pinks and greens with a khaki class B? And stripes on sleeves for all uniforms. Just my $.02.

I don't like it! Well actually I'm an Air Force fan and blue is their dress color. The army needs to go back to the green uniform. Just the green, not the white (too Navy like). That's simple. For mess they can replace the tie with the bow.

In my opinion, I love the greens a 1000x better than the new dress blues. I mean, if they really wanted to change the dress uniform, I would rather change from green to black than green to blue b/c black is a little more unique I guess. Not a fan of the change myself, I think they should focus more on changing the ACUs to multicam.

I personally think the WWII era Army dress uniforms were the best looking uniforms the Army put out. The overall brown color with the cresent like cap looked very sharp and very distinguished.

They did the same thing in the Canadian Forces in the 70s, was a totally stupid idea and waste of taxpayer money, they ended up changing back to separate uniforms a few years later, spending even more taxpayer money
