Man...this takes me back (1982-1986)..grew up in Marlow heights?Hillcrest Heights..hanging out at Iverson Mall...remeber the robbery at the jewelry store inside the Mall??..we use to see RE, Class Band, Ayre Rayde for 5 dollars at the friendly annex...I live out here in Vegas now, but these bamas have no clue..I've been all around the world (Army) and people who don't even speak English know go-go music when they hear it!! I'm back home in P.G. after being in Atl. for 25 years. I missed gogo like you wouldn't believe. There's no other sound like it. Anything by Rare Essence takes me back--way back. I remember when they performed at our homecoming in 1982 at Parkdale High School. Loved it!

I moved to P.G. after I got out of the service. Being a New Yorker ( 147th and Amsterdam )I wasn't into go-go at first, but Chuck and Essence changed my mind. "Sardines , hey and Pork and Beans" and "3 in the morning the Pancake House". Anacostia Park and Chillum. D.C., you know.

yeah i remeber the funeral home it was down the block from Sam's Car Wash they turned it back in to a conveinent store around 1993. My man Dwayne (aka Buddy) and his sister Lisa used to live on Gunther. I moved to CH in 84 but went to john Eager Howard (behind bradbury heights) you might remember some the old school heads like Steak (r.i.p.), White Boy Tubby, Kirk, Tony Paige (the barber), Dion Hall and Geroge (the barber). We called the Watch tower down in the creek Big Ben.
