Great song. I tripped 40-45 times mostly in 1969-70 when I was 16 or 17. {The acid I took became pretty "adulterated" after that.} I was "light" on acid. This means I could get very high, very easily on good acid. When I tripped I'd be high for 16-18 hrs and the "peak" would be very intense for me. For about 3 or 4 hrs every trip I'd be scared to death I wasn't going to come down then when I realized it was gonna be alright I'd smoke a joint and laugh for hours. This song most typifies a trip.

Interesting bit of Trivia:The Beatles Released "Revolver" in August of 1966, Jimi's "Are you Experienced" was released in August 1967...rumor has it that John Lennon was privy to Hendrix's studio sessions for "Experienced" and wrote "Tomorrow never Knows" as the first track for "Revolver" and demanded George Martin use his influence to delay the relase of Hendrix's album (for obvious reasons) until "Revolver could be finished and released" Listen to both tunes and decide for yourself...:-)

If you've ever done acid you will know how it makes you feel like you're underwater or in a different world, but it's such a beautiful world. Just like watching a sunrise is immensely beautiful. He spoke in metaphor whenever he wanted to talk about tripping or being high. Back in the 60's the country was so conservative if you spoke of drugs you'd be crucified in the media. The walls were moving noticeably, everything seemed more "real" its really hard to put into words but i enjoyed it. Another thing i noticed was colors seemed more vivid, way more vivid. A nice experience, just not something i would do on a regular basis

That's how it was on one tab for me, like I had just faced 10 joints of hash except, with hallucinations, and without the couchlock. It's super chill stuff. I know exactly what you mean. Things seem more real and connected. If you want to do more than one, have a ground in reality in case it gets too intense, something you're familiar with when you're sober. My guitar is what I use.

To me it isn't about sex, I grew up in the 60s, I think he is singing about the drug culture of the times. Listen to the words carefully.
