  • I am sorry for my dramatic style. I am also sorry for the many grammatical errors. My passion about Jesus and the Church sometimes makes me a bit carried away. Anyway, I hope you understand what I was attempting to say. Thanks again!

  • Thank you ... for posting this ... I mean that in a tremendous praise for one (you, who posted this) who knew this man from me a man never fortunate enough to have EVER heard speak! Why is that so, well, even the minds if younger Catholics (those if us matured after Sheen's time) have been poisoned in our minds against him. Consider that I have heard of him, but in a way insuring I would likely never listen to him. These persons say he was crazy or blindly wrapped in the same insidiousness the

  • An amazing holy person!

  • one talented entertainer

  • Even though I was born in 1982 (after Archbishop Sheen passed) his teachings, homilies, quotes, sayings and outlook have had a monumental impact on my relationship with Christ.

I was born Catholic but became atheist during my teenage years. Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen drew me back to my Home, the Catholic Church.

May God bless him and may he be canonized soon.

  • I've spent so many years having Christianity shoved down my throat by my college, my school and my family. I was sick of it. Yet, I find Fulton Sheen one of the most insightful and wise men I've ever come across. Don't force your beliefs on others. If someone will find enlightenment in Christianity, they will find it themselves.

  • IT IS A MORTAL SIN NOT ATTEND MASS EVERY SUNDAY!

  • @victrolajake and holy days.

  • Two people I admire deeply: Fulton Sheen and Billy Graham.

  • looks like there are 8 indifferent spectators since they chose to dislike this masterpiece of a sermon :(

  • This was Avon NY? I was attending the Catholic School at the time.

  • Bishop Fulton Sheen and GK Chesterton have been huge influences in my life. With them, I came to truly believe that the Catholic Church is the only church, and that the Catholic faith, is the only faith.

When I learn from them, I feel so safe in the arms of Mother Church.

  • @TenderTrap86 Sheen and JPII are my favorites.

  • WHAT AN AWESOME AND ELOQUENT SPEAKER. BRILLIANT THEOLOGIAN!

AN HONOR TO HAVE KNOWN HIM, RIP WITH JESUS, I PRAY IN MY LIFETIME YOU WILL BE MADE A SAINT. ALSO I AM WAITING FOR POPE JOHN PAUL II THE GREAT.

TWO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE AND APOSTLES OF JESUS CHRIST++ AVE MARIA++

  • When I was seven I watched him on black and white TV. His words were compelling-and humorous. I knew he was special. I didn't understand many of his ideas then.

But it is more than a pleasure in my life to rediscover roots of spirituality and philosophy that began here.

  • I have no idea who should be canonized, and nothing against Bishop Sheen, but rank notwithstanding, it seems to me he'd be in line somewhere behind Father Baker

  • I am 57. Mother, when I was quite young, 11 or 12 , would give me one of her "dog eared" Image Books about every 2 months, written by Bishop Sheen. ..I knew the 20 + books she gave me were the finest gifts I ever recieved. I read each one more thoroughly and more deeply than any other book that came my way. He was so astute and with intelligence and a sense of humor straight from Heavenly Love.. I read others and passed them on to mom. but his "'Autobiography " was my mom's favorite. and mine

  • prayer for the canonisation ofARCH BISHOP FULTON SHEEN

IF IT BE ACCORDING TO YOUR WILL,ETERNAL FATHER,GLORIFY YOURSERVANT,ARCH BISHOP FULTON SHEEN,BY GRANTING THE FAVOUR

I NOW REQUEST THROUGH HIS PRAYFUL INTERCESSION, MENTION YOUR

REQUEST. I MAKE THIS PRAYER CONFIDENTLY IN JESUS; NAME THROUGH THE MERITS OF HIS PASSION, DEATH AND RESSURRECTION AMEN.

  • Archibishop Sheen is one of the greatest superstar of the Church. What a shame he did not become Pope!

  • @lidiabonini

I don't think there will ever be an American Pope.

  • @Childinfaith Until the election of Karol Wojtyla, nobody would have believed that a non italian could be called to be a Pope. There is always a first time. Personally I believe America has plenty of eligible men among its clergy. Watching EWTN has given me (an italian) a good insight into the quality of your priests and bishops and friars. Archbishop Fulton Sheen is on a league of his own. He was too far ahead of his times.

  • @Childinfaith Keep your eyes on Burke. It is possible.

  • word cannot Express my love for this man books and messages.

  • Bishop Fulton Sheen could have hosted The Price is Right.

  • @batfly get out of my way

  • A truly gifted speaker.

  • Powerful sermon.

    Thanks for posting.

  • I'm an Anglo-Catholic, not a Roman Catholic (although I've pondered and continue to ponder joining the RC Church.) But I LOVE Bishop Sheen. I have derived much inspiration from this great and Godly man. When my faith has been at low tide, his words and example made it come surging back.. God bless Sheen (that statement might very well be redundant:)) -

  • @stevevandien my friend, grab these: The Faith Explained, an Ordinary Catechism, Treatise on Mary and Secret of Rosary (Montfort) and a gooood Douay-Rheims with Haydock.

And of course, a good rosary. Praying the Rosary leads out from heresy, and all these books will make your intellect stronger over Catholicism.

  • Whenever I find my faith slipping, I watch Bishop Sheen. When my soul is ill, his words are the cure. To watch such a well-spoken man of great intelligence deliver the words of Christ as he did is just so awe inspiring. By the end, I wonder how I ever could have doubted at all. Bishop Sheen is a true gem to the Catholic world and to the whole world at large.

  • my faith was slipping last night & today. thank you Bishop Sheen & thanks wonderboy for posting

  • A marvelous voice and impressive manner with always that sparkle of humor..i marvel at the man and I'm an agnostic with atheistic overtones. He's good company in an alternately troubled and happy world. Thx for posting this video clip.

  • what a wonderful spokesman of the lord and our catholic church, we need more priests like him who can deliver such a powerful and passionate message with such eloquence. please watch the other parts

  • I LOVE YOU FATHER...I LOVE YOU

  • Excellent!

  • Give Jesus the glory.

  • For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

  • felt empty and lost when i woke up this morning...i searched " why is life worth living" and found this man. thx

  • amen father

  • This man was so wonderful. He still gives me hope in this world and I know he is watching all of us right now. I am so thankful I can watch him here when there is nothing good on tv.

  • I agree ... I watched him as a little girl. Hopefully, he will be sainted soon! But I'd watch him here BECAUSE there's nothing good on TV! ;) hehehehe - 'course, Smallville is the exception LOL

  • Smallville is still on.. no fooling? Well what channel, because I thought the WB was gone? Fulton sheen is great!

  • yep .. WB station ... new season just began on the 29th :)

Search on Bishop Sheen ... they're collecting info to make him a saint ... do a search :) I hope I live to see it! :) I think in this day, Fr. John Corapi is Sheen's 'replacement' heheheee ... another great one :)

    God Bless!

  • wait .. sorry .. not WB ... it's now CW I believe

  • I am an athiest. But I love this man and his message. I feel his eloquence, passion and his skills as an educator transcend all beliefs.

  • The purpose of his speech is not for man to admire his eloquence, passion nor skill as educator, etc.

Why are you so proud to say you are an atheist? Has wisdom left you?

  • he is on the road to beatification!

  • One of the greatests servent of our blessed lord. May god bless this man. I can see the lord saying Well done my most faithful servent. Well done.

  • I believe that he should be cannonized.

The 1st saint to reach millions at a grab.

LIke our Italion brothers and sisters, santo subito ! sainthood now !

  • @brianstillwater they're working on it! 3 miracles and counting.

  • Nobody, and I mean NOBODY could deliver a sermon like the late archbishop. He had so much personality and such a great sense of humor. R.I.P. Fulton J. Sheen. You are missed.

  • Bishop Sheen is a legend!! He rocks! Requiescant in pace Bishop Sheen!

  • Fellow Christians, Our rights are being threatened like never before in the history of this nation. A hate crime bill designed to eliminate the free speech of traditional Christians has passed the House and is now in the Senate as S. 909. Anyone who is opposed to homosexual marriage will be considered a hate criminal and will be prosecuted. Please call the Senate toll free and protest this grave threat to the first amendment at 1-877-851-6437. Our Constitution is threatened like never before.

  • I'm not Catholic, but I admire this man. I wish he had become Pope. This was truly a great man.

  • He would have been the first American Pope, It would be an honor for myself and the rest of the people in Peoria. He will be the first native born American Saint though. I would recommend his autobiography to anyone, including you. It is called "Treasure in Clay".

  • Thanks. I'll read it. I always admired him.

  • It's for people like BigDummy23 that Bishop Sheen came to give the Good News. I will pray for your heart BigDummy23 because it is in need of prayer. Bishop Sheen gave everything he had for He who he loved most, namely our Lord Jesus Christ. Bishop Sheen used all his talents for the salvation of souls, just as our Lord did and the saints through the centuries have done. Therefore, for you BigDummy23, I will give up time for your soul with a prayer for you. May God touch your heart.

  • God bless Bishop Sheen

  • ramen

  • God wishes to bestow his Divine Mercy on the world, not divine wrath.

  • My fellow Christian, please choose your words with care. Hatred is not the way to win souls to the True Faith. Charity is.

  • This is the best spreaker of the 20th century. +JMJ+

  • Agreed, Bishop Sheen is awesome!

  • Saint Fulton Sheen, what a beautiful title for a beautiful soul of a man of God! Pray for me and the whole world! Thanks for the gift of your blessed life!

  • I have official ecclesiastically approved prayers for his canonization, and another to attain a favor through his intercession, if anyone is interested, please reply to this and let me know which one you want!

  • Thank you. You are awesome. I love the Church but now I wish we could go back to the 50's. We had rules and all the rules were the same. God Help us.

  • so do I. he once said, "We need a voice that is right not when the world is right but a voice that is right when the world is wrong." I too wish we could go back to the 50s where Christendom was still alive. God love you!

  • Sainthood should be the next step for this true man of god!

  • I would be fortunate enough if I could give homilies half as well as the good bishop one day, and be a shadow of the priest he was. What an inspiring role model! May he rest in peace.

  • What a great teacher. He was an Angel on earth.

  • Pray for us Father Sheen.

  • Oh how I miss this wonderful Bishop. He could hit a home run every time. I'm old enough and fortunate enough to have watched his program on television. If you want to be inspired by another wonderful preacher, tune into Fr. Carmel and you won't be disappointed. God bless you.

  • I speak often in Public! And My Prayer to Fulton Sheen is this " Please make me do it well! And those I guide will be forever Strong in the Faith, And That That Bishop Sheen "Who should have been Cardinal Sheen, Will not concern himself any more of being overlooked as he becomes Saint Fulton Sheen. And it is my hope he answers that Prayer!

  • Kudos, Majwalt. America needs to get back on track.

Pray for Bishop Sheen's canonization and intercession.

  • Archbishop Fulton Sheen is a saint. He embodies the message of Jesus Christ. He is the personification not only of what America once was, but of what America can be once again.

  • Does anybody know when was this video taken?

    AMDG

  • I just came upon this from somebodies profile and I consider myself a firm Atheist, I truly think God doesn't exist, but this guy is something else.

I'm touched by his words. For however much I feel I don't believe in the existence of God, I love hearing about Christianity and listening to it's loving words. This is amazing I am listening to all of him.

  • The reason why, I believe, you are touched by his words is because the Holy Spirit speaking to you through him. Bishop Sheen was truly dynamic speaker and from what I am told had everyone, believer and non-believer, glued to the radio or TV for his programs. I encourage you, if you haven't already to check out more of his messages. God Bless Bishop Sheen and God Bless you!

  • I am and I'm finding God right not Starlet413 and I truly think he is. I'm just so captivated by his voice, message and what he says, I feel like I truly gain something from him every time I listen to him. Makes me feel bad I wasn't in his time to hear him more closely.

I wanna catch up on everything of his someday, this weekend perhaps.

  • I commend you for seeking out the Truth, Yaguermeister. Bishop Sheen is an awesome example of true stewardship to the Lord.

God bless you on your spiritual journey and quest to seek the Truth. I have no doubt that by continuing to listen to Bishop Sheen, you'll be there before you know it. =)

  • Hey Yaguermeister,

I know your an atheist but you and I can both agree there is something inspiring about Christianity. If you haven't, try reading the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Even an athiest can find these masterpieces very inspiring. Always keep an open heart and an open mind! :)

  • There is something very inspiring, and mysterious about Christianity as well. It rivals science completely and yet through itself manages to give us some sort of faith and understanding of things around us. I will, I have never been a Bible reader in my life but surely I can start soon enough, maybe even this weekend. Yep, that's why I wanna open myself up to the rest of his videos.

  • You know when ever I read the Gospels the words of Jesus really speak to my heart. I think if you read with an open mind and heart you will see that this man Jesus was no ordinary man. I feel like no human could speak the way he did. Also, go and rent Passion of the Christ, turn down the lights, turn up the volume and it will change your life, I gurantee!

  • That guy would be a good actor in films,he has a lot of good facial expresions.you can almost imagine him as a 4th gunman at the end of the good the bad and the ugly.

  • i am listening to bishop sheen may 27 2008 - more than 40 years later. he is timely, pertinent and a man for our time. his inspiring thoughts have released a tsunami of stirrings in my heart: he has raised a cresendo of pure joy and faith in the one GOD. i am bursting with a need to be touched by his other homilies. allanfernanda

  • Allanfernanda,

I am happy that you enjoyed Bishop Sheen. He is a truly great speaker and a great man. If you wish to hear someone more contemporary that will bring you a true knowledge of the faith type in Fr. Carmel here on youtube and be prepared to learn of our beautiful faith. God bless you.

  • topic: Spectators on and about the Cross.

    3 kinds of spectators:

    1.indifferent or fallen-away

a.Pascal - "Christ is on the cross until the end of the world"

b.many spectators along way to calvary

c.his executors sat and watched, not that it was interesting to see a man die, but they were on guard in case he did rise

d.today there is indifference like the executioners, people who live evil lives - but God will welcome them back in the confessional

    2.spectators of pain

    3.spectators of love

  • Now here is someone who knows how to deliver a homily...to say the very least about him!

  • and there's four parts! :)

    he's definitely a saint

  • I agree. He is a saint. There's a webisite which I can't remember where there is a petition to the Vatican to make it official.

  • Fr. Apostoli, Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. Fulton Sheen Foundation will also give you info.

  • FYI, There is a cause for him now. Look up Father Apostoli of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, they've asked for prayers.

  • I have long thought that this was one of the best, and perhaps THE best address that he ever gave. The fact that he is so near to his own death here gives this sermon a particular gravity.

  • i watched this series (his last words) awhile ago. i love how he speaks, and what he has to say.

  • Wow! Thank you for posting this.

  • I like this guy

  • Thank you for sharing

  • ILOVE BISHOP SHEEN

  • I have just come across Bishop Sheen. This sermon is remarkable - insightful, captivating and compelling. Just wish I had known about him sooner. Thanks for posting this.

  • Habemus sanctum.

  • Coolest... man...ever...

  • I wish to thank Fulton Sheen for his intercession. I praise Our Almighty Father for his wonderful saints.

  • Michael Voris from the show The One True Faith on EWTN talks about Sheen often. Glad to see him make his way onto YouTube. :)

  • God bless this great man!

  • my mother loved him and watched him every night in the 50's

  • When they canonize him they'll also make him a Doctor of the Church

  • He spent the six months of the year that he wasn't on tv working to take care of the hungry.

  • BESTEST OF BESTEST

  • a genius...God bless him
