  • No comments, realy realy impressive, congratulations...I'm brasilian, sorry by bad english

Sem comentários, muito muito impressionante, parabéns...Sou brasileiro, desculpe pelo péssimo inglês.

  • taabs please

  • Amazing.

  • Subdivisions is my fav Rush song and all I can say is Wow!!

  • and I'm from Hamilton originally too :)

  • I love this take of Subdivisions. Last week I uploaded Broon's Bane & The Trees on piano, and I am pleasantly surprised at the reaction. The one thing, I already met Rush at RCMH in NYC 28 years ago with Q-107! Jacob you are very talented. We should do a song some day.

  • Excellent version. Well done. As said earlier - put his own style on it without losing anything.

  • I was ready to criticise without giving this guy a real chance. Glad I decided to give it a proper listen. What a great cover. Totally put his own mark on the song yet still remained faithful to the original. Spot on.

  • Fantastic.

  • I saw this live, simply amazing!

  • I have nothing more than to say "amazing!,...I heard a lot of Rush versions, but this is one of the greatest ever I heard as cover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is an amazing cover, probably one of the best covers i've ever heard...nice job!

  • This is one of the best covers of any song I've ever seen

  • My favorite Rush song and extremely enjoyable cover, Well done!

  • haha has anyone ever told you that you look like john foreman from switchfoot?

  • This dude made a classic out of a cover of a classic. That, by itself, is amazing.

  • @intricatic ITs a classic within a classic... CLASSICEP- Oh what the hell, its nice lol.

  • Check out our music!!, hope you like it :)

    watch?v=91TEwoOD4Zc

  • This is so sweet

  • I'm a musician that knows allot of Rush and Dream Theater, you did a great job with that man. Awesome song, well played....

  • Awesome!

  • Fantastic, haunting cover. I'm so familiar with the original that this seems almost shocking, but it's a beautiful rendition. Thanks!

  • Excellent version of Rush,s classic.

Should see Jacob live, known to bring the

    house down.

  • Unreal! Well done!!!

  • The mere attempt at covering a Rush tune is daunting in the least. All the negative criticism of this piece comes from a bunch of musical hacks. It may be a cover, but it is the most original and inspiring covers of all time. He took an already destined to be classic and transformed it into an acoustical masterpiece and classical cover. If you can do it any better, bring it on!

  • I think i'd have done a slightly slower, more melancholy version.

  • @Triangulove

I don't think that would work as well. This was right on, in my opinion.

  • @mcbrock80

I think it would work fine done properly. I can envision it in my head. Maybe I will try it some day.

  • Amazing cover.. Brilliant! Thanks for made this! Best wishes Jacob.

  • This guy was at my school today. He played this

  • @technologycrazy o hey same here

  • wow....wow.

  • Wow! I didn't think I'd like an acoustic version of this but GREAT JOB! Especially all the foot pedal activations etc....I dig it, excellent!

  • Comment removed

  • Wait, did you see what I saw?! As far as I know, that was unauthorized use of dairy cases.

  • Thank you. Awesome job mate.

  • awesome song!!!

  • When you boil it down to the lyrics. It's all good.

  • i know where that is...dundurn in hamilton before mcmaster university...damn been in school way to long lol

  • Hey guys... Just saw Jacob perform this (and other songs of his) in a small room with great acoustics and about 15 people.

He's such a great performer and a wonderful person. Head to his website and show him some love!

  • wow, great job ! Doesn't get much better then that

  • Very cool! Any chance of covering "A Passage to Bangkok" on the roof of Massey Hall?

  • @drprogensteinphp lol... that would be amazing but I think that's not quite the vibe Jacob goes for ;o)

  • Really good! The chorus part was both unexpected and genius!

  • Just wonderful! Very talented! I think the boys should dump Geddy as vocalist ... the song never sounded so good! lol

  • @throwsand dude he's one man band. An acoustic rendition of this song is a must and this guy hit it spot on. SPOT ON goddammit!

  • great job .............

  • Why did it take me over 2.5 years to discover this!

  • awesome cover of this song.

  • Holy crap - that's near Dundurn Castle in Hamilton!

  • GENIAL

  • Beautifully done! Spine-tingling job!

  • screw the ones who disliked this video....because im pretty sure 1,804 beats 17

  • Speechless.

  • wow, amazing job.

  • My favourite song just got better! I love this!

  • @70Juhis Agreed!

  • Truly incredible! I stumbled across this, and I'm glad I did. I gotta tell ya Jacob-that's amazingly well done. Apparently enough so that RUSH agrees as well. The video location captures the inherent spirit of the song. Always wondered how this song would sound slowed down and played acoustic. Now, who the hell are the 17 people that disliked this? What's wrong with you people.

  • This is amazing

  • Anyone know where this was recorded?

  • Great cover! Absolutely love it on the acoustic.

  • Excellent. Great voice, nice arrangement, super guitar work. You really get how powerful the lyrics are too.

  • Fantastic.

  • Hey Jacob, I love this - you're playing / coordinating everything is amazing - I've watched it loads of times - please make the MP3 it available for download on iTunes

  • Compliment criticizing his bullshit choice. You should be his manager.

  • You have a good voice. Why are you doing this Rush cover bullshit?

  • @MrHellTroll Maybe because he's a fan..? Duh? What's with YOU with your shitty comment?

  • @vivelavidarocka I gave him a compliment you fucktard! Your reading skills obviously suck big black dick that just got pulled out of someones ass!

  • Comment removed

  • @MrHellTroll Rush is one of the finest bands that ever graced rock music, they deserve it. This goes to show great song writing is timeless. This sounds very modern, but this song is 30 years old!

  • @MrHellTroll fuck you, rush was the first, and is the best canadian, no WORLDWIDE band ever

  • @MrHellTroll asked: "Why are you doing this Rush cover bullshit?"

well, it seems to have gotten him 240 thousand views, maybe thousands of new fans, and a chance to play a bunch of places he might not have otherwise... he got to meet the band, which was a great thing if you're a fan... I probably would never have heard of him otherwise... and his version of this song is beautiful and creative... and you have created what, exactly?

  • @HarrrySpider I'll tell you what this asswipe has created: Two retarded lines that meant to be taken as a "compliment" and an utter gay reply defending his first brain fart. That's all, his 5 days on the spotlight are over. Let's leave it like that.

I agree with you, this is great and different version. Cheers.

  • @HarrrySpider nice :D

  • @HarrrySpider Note the guys name lol. At least he is living up to his title.

  • @HarrrySpider Mr. Hell Troll it seems you are a bit of an anus hole!!

  • Thanks for this great interpretation of the tremendous band Rush Greetings from Chile ...sorry por mi ingles

  • Rush will live for ever around the world. Close to the heart

Rush vivirá por siempre alrededor del mundo. Cerca del corazón

  • I also want to mention that the arrangement befits the methodology of Rush perfectly, namely throwing more than one instrument per person and making them work. As a person having difficulties multi-tasking more than three tasks, how you manage the timing of triggers and switching of guitars in live is beyond me.

  • Repeated the song over 50 times during the last two months and it grows larger every time I listen. It's a reinvented Subdivisions. Few things make a person happier than having more than one proper version of one's favorite song, and for that I show my gratitude by buying your newest (and equally wonderful) album Maybe Sunshine.

  • thanks mr peart

  • thanks mr pert

  • BRAVO!

  • FUCKN REALLY WICKED MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I SAW YOU AT THE RUSH GALA....AMAZING!

  • awsome tech skills were do i buy the CD!!

  • This is the only way a Rush cover works. Really making it your own. Showing us who you are through your music... using what has come before as a guide. Fantastic job.

  • @elraver That's the only way. And this guy does exactly what you said is needed to do a decent cover of a classic.

  • Bravo!

This is by far the best cover of a Rush song I've ever heard. Congratulations and keep the good work. The world needs real musicians nowadays.

    Greetings from Brazil.

  • Nicely done.

    Bravo!

  • Best Cover of this song !!!

  • What can I say but GREAT JOB I LOVED IT THANK YOUR NEWEST FAN GP

  • great... just great

  • Very creative and a genuine performance. A worthy tribute by one talented musician and vocalist. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.....great holiday fun!!

  • I usually cringe even at the thought of listening to someone cover a Rush song. And when I saw the acoustic in your hands, I thought "Oh, no...nonono, he's going to *slaughter* Subdivisions." But you did a beautiful rendition of Subdivisions. Very nice, Jacob! Thanks!

  • Must... have... tab!

  • we watched this at guitar church.

  • Wow, absolutely brilliant! Such a thoughtful (and brilliantly shot) version of a Canadian rock classic.

  • canada is so fricking beautiful

  • @CreatureMontage yes, what a beautiful gas station

  • @CreatureMontage Canada is a big place.. this is just one spot. From the video it looks a lot like much of the Pacific Northwest in USA (Washington state and oregon)..

  • Awesome. Brilliant

  • BEAUTIFUL!!

  • Utterly brilliant

  • you guys know that this guy is Canadian right..

  • Awesome stuff.

  • Do you know how to scream?

  • Absolutely incredible!

  • Jacob,

You knocked it out of the park son. Very nicely done!

  • Great interpretation of the song!

  • AMAZING! What tuning are you in good sir?

  • Really really great song and talent you have my dear.

  • I saw this guy live today, he was absolutely incredible

  • Brilliant.

  • pretty cool, but it sounds like a million nashville artists

  • @skibothy Sorry Nashville doesnt listen to RUSH

  • @skibothy Yes, the solo acoustic singer/songwriter thing with loopers and multiple instruments has been done to death, not only in Nashville but everywhere else. However, most of the people who have made it a cliche have less than a quarter of the talent, versatility and musicality displayed here. If I had to pick one person to represent the genre as a whole, it'd have to be Moon.

  • I've been watching your videos for the past hours and have seen quite some talent and what appears to be Keaggy influence. I'd love to try and connect to work something out whether it be performing together or recording together. Be blessed.

  • I'm willing to bet you get so much poon playing this for chicks.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you could really grow some nice tomato plants on top of that building

  • Gooooood Work!

    Greetings from Brazil

  • Awesome! A real talent! The world needs real musicians!

  • Wow, a real musician. The music world badly and i mean badly needs real musicians.

  • This is amazing. great job bro.

  • wow give this man a award or something you rock dude.........

  • This is fantastic! Great job. How could 17 people not like this?

  • Comment removed

  • @JStraw7103 because it's butchering Rush?

  • That was really good!

  • lovely voice, wonderful cover, well done ^^

  • I applaud you for trying something different, but sorry I need drums on this one. thumbs down

  • Very cool dude! Big smile! :)

  • Wow! Nice interpretation of a classic. Nice use of the DVR & the Looper. Playing a Godin on a rooftop in a Toronto Suburb, Perfect! You just picked up a new fan in NY. And once I forward this to all my Rush friends, my guess is that you will have some more.

  • great job and amazing performance....this song it´s the best....from now i´m your fan Jacob...grettings from Chile.....chaoooo

  • You are ridiculously talented Jason, amazing performance Dude :-o What a voice !!

  • this should be added to Sirius/XM Coffee House channel

  • I had the recent privilege of seeing Jacob perform at a Camp Mini-yo-we fund raiser dinner. A very talented performer and a great guy.

  • Watched this again today. What a beautiful re-imagining of this song by Jacob Moon. The Rush original has been a favorite of mine for literally decades. Moon's take surpasses the emotional heft of the original, revealing surprising emotional depth within Neil Peart's lyric.

  • Stuck for words.. But I'll try... To take a synthesized heavy track from such a coveted band of our time and switch it into your performance is beyond words. It could so easily been cheesy, but it is far from that. It was thought through, with every bar calculated to perfection. Completely inspired by you. xx

  • I wonder if Getty Lee, Eric Liefson, and, Neil Peart have seen this...... Incredible. Well done freind... You should do lime light and Tom Sawyer...... Keep it up. Instant sub.

oh yeah.... and 16 poeple are seriously tone deaf. How could anyone dislike this?

    awsome, dude...... AWSOME. ;)

  • @omnilateral Not only have they heard it, Jacob performed it when Rush was inducted in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, one of only three performers paying tribute to Rush. Search around on YouTube and you'll find the rehearsal clips. Amazing is all I can say!!!

  • A wrong number text brought me here...best wrong number message ever!

  • what's not to like?

  • been a rush fan since 92 and this damn near moved me to tears. I'm watching you now.

  • A song for nerds everywhere.

  • was at centennial today and watched you play guitar. i thought it was amazing. You make it look treally easy. Thanks for the experience.

  • I SAW HIM LIVE HES AWESOME its also really cool because he doesnt have a drummer he sometimes does a loop with his pedal and his guitar of him slapping it to make a beat!

  • Favourited immediately. Astonishing work. Sharing with all my Rush-fan friends right away.

  • Jacob...OMG! *****5 Stars***** Bravo!

  • So very cool.... you're wonderful!

  • this rendition is awesome, I saw you in \Hamilton april 19 2011 meet and greet and was unsure if it was you, wish i did , just to tell you that this and all your stuff is great especially sara, good stuff.......keep up the great work ,can't wait to see and hear more! cheers

  • When I first saw this video i thought "Wow. Another asshole covering Rush, I'm not going to like this."

I was wrong, I am truly sorry. You have a lot of talent, and this cover is truly beautiful.

  • I can clearly see why Rush were impressed, this is one of the best videos I have seen on You Tube in many many years, apart from the flying cat caught in the ceiling fan ;) Mega thanks Jacob for posting this video it truly is inspirational

  • Great rendition to a great song. Video makes me home sick. Born and raised in the Hammer, used to live about 6 blocks from where this was shot.

  • That was an amazing version of Subdivisions.

  • Very cool!!

  • PHANTASMAGORIC!!!

  • Superb

  • where from that bass comes? pedals?

  • I have always been a huge acoustic fan and a Rush fan. You are one of the most talented performers I have seen. Keep on going and I am sure I will be paying to see you in concert soon.

  • just 2 word...awe-some

    xD

  • Dude get off the roof your scaring me with all those wires and a 6 in wall 1 good gust of wind or 1 misplaced footing and its good bye to you -its got to be about 60 plus feet down other than that -this was an awsome video

  • Awesome.

  • This gets an "A" for talent and another "A" for creativity. Came across this video by accident and it not only caught my attention but KEPT it. In a sad sea of pretenders you are the real thing, Jacob. I congratulate you on doing something real and
