I think the point is that she'd be checking or any STD's which can be spread even when a condom is used, eg warts in some places and crabs etc. The use of a condom (which is illegal to refuse to wear with a prostitute where I'm from, I assume it either is the same in Nevada or a house rule) will protect her from diseases such as HIV which transfer through bodily fluid sharing. Also, again I don't think she said it was a medical check up either.
