  • Rich if you ever sell this one you need to call me first lol:)

  • @Turkeydoodlers You got it!!

  • I just thought I'd let you know that I have been looking for this record on ebay since I commented (9 months ago it says). I FINALLY found and bought one. I can't wait to get it. I still love listening to it here. Of course it won't be as much fun to play it on my machine as it would be on yours. (FYI $5.99 + $4.00 shipping. I was the only bidder. I feel I lucked out)

  • @hindsight1820 Great find!!!!

  • I didn't know you had one of theses rich?

  • Gorgeous machine! I'd always wanted to see one work! Did you play that record specifically because the machines were known as record breakers (not in the good sense)? Also, I just gave a friend a 1961 DeSoto hardtop, light yellow with a white top in 1/18 scale from the Fairfield Mint. It was a lovely model and didn't know if you were aware of it or not.

  • @VictrolaJazz.. No these never broke them unless they were out of adjustment. The record falls in soft drawer. But I never play a mint keeper on the 1050. I have the 1961 DeSoto model in blue !!

  • @desoto1961 "unless they were out of adjustment" is the real biggee I'm sure! I thought Fairfield did a wonderful job on the DeSoto!

  • what a machine beautiful

  • Would you kindly share some details about that record. I fell in love with the song. I would like to find the record (on ebay?) and need info such as the label or any numbers associated with it. By the way, I love the machine too. I have several very early phonographs myself but none like this. Thanks for posting.

  • @hindsight1820.. Yes I love it too !! Its called The broken record By Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadian Orch. Vocal refrain by male trio. 1936 Victor record # 25210 The flip side is Alone at a table for two. Thanks !!

  • I absolutely love that song!!! So clever. The charm of an era long long long long long long long long long gone!! The ending tooo....ooo....oooo......funn.........y!

  • @hindsight1820 -Thank you !!

  • Great machine! and video. I am currently working on the restoration of a Victor 9-55 which has the same changer but is electricall amplified and has a radio. Not bad for 1927! I have all the parts (via Charlie Weatherbee - before he stopeed making them). Have been having "fun" getting it all together again and working! Its still a work in progress :)

  • Just to add - 10-50s sure are stunning looking machines and sound great too! Just wish I could find one of those in the UK like I found my 9-55

  • Thanks, Your 9-55 is a beautiful and rare machine. I hope you complete is soon and show us a video of it. You have all the right records to play on it too !

  • @desoto1961 - I am still working on my 9-55. I hope to have it up and running this summer at some point. I am currently working on the changer which is proving to be a bit of a battle! Even with the replaced pot metal parts they don't fit quite as well as they should so I am having to file them down a bit. By the way I had to close my big Band Heaven account and have come back as swingbandheaven

  • @SwingBandHeaven-- I had the same problem with my replaced pot metal parts but I got them to work. It was all they had years ago. Good luck with 9-55. I wondered where your wonderful channel went. So glad you are back !!

  • I just got my 10-50 up and running with the aluminum alloy replacement parts I needed, I was able to buy them from the guy who made them. Really cool to watch it loading and literally 'dumping' the records. I am now In process of rebuilding the reproducer. This monster weighs nearly 320 lbs and takes a lot of room but it looks and sounds beautiful so it's worth it.

  • I've run hundreds of records thru my 10-50 in the last few months and it hasn't broken or chipped a single record. The only one that I broke? I simply dropped it. The records are safer in the 10-50 than in my hands, hah!

  • I am glad its working, put a video on you tube so we can see it !!

  • I'll give it a try in the next week or so, thanks!

  • Just glorious!

  • Again Desoto...You have the most amazing record player collection!! What a beautiful piece this is. And that song!! I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT!

  • I have a Victrola 1050 too. I see you have replaced two pot metal parts the pad and the mount that holds the support that holds the records. I just got the pieces and cannot wait to get it up and running as I have had this machine since 1982 and am finally getting it to work.

  • I got mine in 1980. I got the replacement potmetal parts maybe ten years later. It was great to have it working again. Good luck with yours. Let me know if you need any help.

  • that's a very impressive victrola, and quite a collectors item. I did not know until recently that they made an automatic victrola. Beautiful ornate cabinet and also sounds good. I'm sure this was a top of the line victrola.

  • wow. its incredible how good orthophonics sound. awesome song as well!

  • next to miraculous how fast the rejected record goes down into the drawer without becoming the broken record like its title!

  • It has never broken one yet ! But it is a spare copy just in case.

  • we like it/we like it/we like it...

  • we've always wanted to hear this tune and to hear it played on THE perfect machine is such a plus...wonderful...wonderful...wonderful...we are also a broken [victor] record!

  • That was some massive engineering.

  • Looks nice! Great machine!!!
