These were the days!! Damn I miss the old WWF!! They also had amazing tag teams back then. Now the tag teams suck. Plus the current tag team belts are horrible!
Its amazing with the little tv time a month that there were that many hall of famers that were showcased in the WWF.But some how with 4 hrs a week the WWE cant seem to produce 5 guys that can actually wrestle.
@co2rie Me too, problem is the rosters are thin today and everyone is spawned from the same cookie cutter styles. Back then you had such an array of characters who did different things in the ring and created a lot of interest. Now it would just be the same body builder/reality show persona, punch, kick, pin situation.
i think we all know who the million dollar team mystery partner is, at least the people who watched wrestling back then would know. I miss these days :')
Legion of Doom were the two coolest characters after the Ultimate Warrior. Even cooler than Undertaker. Wrestling was great back then, still like to watch it.
Damn, alot of these " Wrastlers" are dead now. Hercules, Texas Tornado, Bravo, Earthquake, Crush, Perfect, Boss Man, Hawk. And did Ultimate Warrior say " all the skeletons have made the sacrifice". And WTF is up with that EGG.
I remember this being the Undertaker being Million Dollar Mans special guest and the announcer calls his special move the Tombstone before he's even supposed to know. He even gets asked by other announcer. Fucking awesome though!
the only good promo the warrior cut was the one on dibiase where he said dollars do not build biceps he was prolly coached through that GARBAGE promo cutter
Man, they should do the next survivor series as pure elimation matches from start to finish, the nostalgia alone would be worth the price of admission.
@justincredible214 Yes, Warrior was the one who had the straps changed. He first did it with the Intercontinental Belt by making it yellow.
Later, Shawn Michaels had a white strap and Goldust had a gold strap.
I didn't like how the Warrior changed the strap on the WWF Title. Black was standard in my opinion. The purple strap was the worst and it looked dumb when Slaughter was holding up the belt with a purple strap at the Royal Rumble.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, really? Like Rick Rude, who beat him for the IC title? Like Slaughter, who beat him for the WWF title? And how often did Hogan put anyone over during his peak? When you're the champ, it's not your job to be putting people over all the time.
@fagbert Warrior thought he was Hulk Hogan and refused to let anyone pin him cleanly. When the Undertaker came on the scene, he refused to get pinned with the Tombstone. Rude beat Warrior with Heenan's interference ... fine! But Warrior took the title back a few months later.
The Slaughter thing was not a rivalry. Warrior did not represent the WWF like Hogan did so they had to give the belt to a heel in order for Hogan to win it. I can't think of any other times that Warrior was pinned.
And when was Hogan pinned cleanly in the middle of the ring before WMVI? When did he put over ANYONE cleanly, before Warrior? Whatever your opinion of the Warrior, that he wasn't Hogan, it remains that he was set up as Hogan's successor and was the WWF champion. This was a time when the belt wasn't passed around like a bong at a party. To criticize Warrior for not jobbing cleanly is to completely ignore how things worked then. The problem was bad booking, not the Warrior.
@fagbert Who did the Warrior have a successful rivalry with while having the title? No one! Hogan feuded with Mr. Wonderful, Bundy, Andre, Piper, Flair, Undertaker, Savage, etc.
Warrior had no one because he sucked. His interviews were crap and no one thought there was a chance he would lose. Slaughter was not a rivalry, rather a one time thing for the purpose of getting the belt back to Hogan.
Warrior ruined great potential rivalries with Andre, Taker, Papa Shango and Perfect/Flair.
Your logic is very strange indeed. LOTS, and I mean LOTS of people thought Hogan sucked, including lots of other wrestlers. Whether he "sucked" in anyone's opinion had nothing to do with it. Whether Warrior gave crap interviews had nothing to do with it. And when I was a kid, I never thought Hogan could lose, either. Again, nothing to do with it. It's the job of the bookers to come up with the rivalries and storylines. Not that it mattered, Warrior was still massively over.
Further, let's compare Warrior to Savage's run as champ, from '88 to '89. Does anyone talk about rivalries Savage had in '88? No, because nobody in the WWF creative department bothered to give him any memorable ones; his tenure was simply to give fans a breather from Hogan, while simultaneously setting up Hogan to regain the belt. Everybody remembers Savage turning heel against Hogan, but nothing else. Was this because Savage "sucked?" No, it was because of unthoughtful booking.
@fagbert Savage had tag team rivalries as the Mega-Powers with DiBiase and Andre (Mega-Bucks) and the Twin Towers.
As a singles champ, he rivaled DiBiase, Bad News Brown and Hulk Hogan.
That's not bad for one year as Champion. The WWF focused heavily on the Mega-Powers angle when he was champ because Hogan was still the face of the company.
@FAITHandLOGIC I see that you have watch "The Self Destruction of The Ultimate Warrior". You are thinking the way Vince McMahon, his cheif ass kissers and Hulk Hogan want you to think.
@trekfanful I disagree. Warriors best rivalry was Rude over the Intercontinental Title. Other than that, they all kind of sucked and the reason was that Warrior won every match. He should have put over Undertaker and Flair.
I also think that it would have been great if Mr. Perfect beat Warrior for the title but his back was a goner by 1991 and he had to drop the IC belt to Hart before retiring for a few years.
The Warriors made "Perfect" sense. Think about it. You had the former Road Warriors, you had the former Modern Day Warrior, and you had The Ultimate Warrior.
the ultimate warrior era... no the ultimate era of wwf. Warrior was the man, bit of a douche in real life but he would still get such a huge pop if he ever came back. wish he did
@hazuken Really? You call THIS the ultimate era of the WWE? Cause, Id reserve that term for, like, the original Golden Era of wrestling in the 70s and 80s, or the Attitude era, not when they strapped the belt on this screaming lunatic.
@Piledriver86 I would have to disagree with the attitude era seeing that it was WCW that had higher ratings at that point in time, fact of the matter is if the warrior came back the seats would be sold out so fast hes been out of wwf since 96 but even newer generation of kids know his name. he made his mark by going over the over rated out of shape piece of crap hulk hogan. even dusty rhodes said the golden era of wrestling was the mid 80s to very early 90s so yea... and he wasnt the only one.
@hazuken WCW was only higher rated until 1999, after that, they started going downhill, while the Atttitude Era was still going strong. And no, he really wouldnt have. Didnt you see the match he and Hogan had in WCW in 97? Its considered to be one of the worst matches of all time, it flopped spectacularly, and the whole thing was a pathetic mess.
@Piledriver86 if your referring to warrior and hogan in wcw yes it was a flop for many reasons, warrior was wrestling with a torn bicep, and hulk hogan blinded himself with his own spot because the tart couldnt light a lighter. regaurdless to that, growing up i got more anticipated or psyched to see a wcw ppv over a wwf one, wwf at that time was so boring and predictable, wrestlemania.. wooo.... summerslam..-snore-, kotr.... stupid.. royal rumble was my favorite but ww3 kicked its ass
@hazuken Dude, WW3 SUCKED. It was impossible to keep track of what was going on, with three rings like that. WCW had some great moments, but they were just as crappy as the WWF were in the mid 90s, it was a bad tme for wrestling overall. WCW didnt start to really shine until they started bringing in luchador talent and before they ran the NWO into the ground.
Its a little sad when you stop and realize that so many of these wrestling legends from the very first match are no longer with us. They all were great entertainers. Kerry, Hawk, Crush, Curt...may you all R.I.P.
