  • You don't seem to be moved by the music. It's disco! Good cover.

  • Wow! Loving this song even more now...

  • hey,

i wanna get myself an EB3, but can you please tell me:

    1. Is it active or passive?

    2. Is it as neck-heavy as everyone says?

    3. Last but not least:Does it rock?

    would be nice to know

  • I like the sound of the Epiphone EB3! The important fact is the 34" scale sounds fuller and more percussive than the 30" scale. As far as looks go, it's always been a winner. Do you have any problems with the intonation? What gauge strings do you use. I've been thinking about buying one...thanks for your input.

    Good playing by the way!

  • totally agree with the description, coolest bassline ever!!!

  • Were did you get it for $100?

  • You have all missed the point. It is top notch, it is i the bass line that should have been, just more emphasised. The person playing the bass is showing how the track should have sounded, nothing to do with the Gibson xyz 123 blah blah......

  • I've been playing bass for 25 years and played many basses, IMO the Epiphone EBs sound better than the Gibson , and before you call me crazy John Entwistle said the same thing in his book "Bass Culture" ,throw a set of flats on this baby and you have instant late 60s mud, classic.

  • sick cover man. doesnt seem too hard to play either

  • Nice bass AND cover.

    You're out of control.

  • I have this bass too. I think the action is a bit to high but I like the special tone very much.

  • Great job! I'm thinking off buying one of these as kind off a back up bass. Are those flats or roundwound strings you got on there?

  • I''m in love with the bassline from this song and you play it so it well.

    \0/

    OMG it's perfect.

  • What you should do to stop the neck dive is to get a really wide strap. I use a very wide strap and I love them, as it distributes the weight better. Those skinny straps are useless my friend.

  • you got it down,... totally, ... well done !!!

  • I was totally surprised to find this. I am a bassist and needed to learn the bass to "Get Down Tonight" and suddenly there you were in all your glory playin' those funky riffs. Thanks man, real decent of you to submit the video.

  • great sound nice job

  • nice tone, dead on cover

  • i don´t hear the bass, hardly a bit.that´s sad you´re playing looks good and i´m interested in the sound of the instrument

  • If your hearing is so bad buy some headphones asshole

  • Richard Finch is my guitar instructer he's teachin me how to play some of these songs :)

  • @HaloAddict931 Serious? - Do you still trust him?

  • wat do u mean? wat did he do? and i found out it wasnt him its actually rick benedetto former guitarist for KC

  • @HaloAddict931 Wasn't this guy busted?

  • WOW!!!! Bass SG looks as great as Guitar SG!!!!!

Ok I have to admit it....

It looks even cooler than the Guitar SG!!!!!!

  • @AchilleasRockerMan, I have an EB-3 bass and proud to own it. It looks sharper than a Fender P-bass, but the Fender basses are better balanced (my EB-3 has quite a neck dive).

  • wow nice playing! do you think you could give me the tabs or perhaps make a tutorial for this song? that would be awsome!!

  • Wow. What energy you put into your playing. It was so sad.

  • A+ great job!

  • I agree with another poster. You nailed it. Perfect!

  • very very very nice... gj

  • I LOVE your bass, I want the same.great cover ;-)

  • NAILED IT!!!!

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Great !!!!!

  • what model of gibson is this bass? This is the same one Jack Bruce played with in sunshine of your love. Anyone know?

  • its the SG

  • this is a epiphone EB-3 , same set up as the gibson EB-3 ... just cheaper, both sound great, you can't beat the fat sound of that neck pick-up.

  • Sounds great!!! I'd like to hear another version - improvise a bit, let your fingers run, BANG THE BASS!!! There is plenty of opportunity in the song to do it.

  • the gibson has a short-scale neck, whereas the epiphone eb-3 has a full scale neck

  • Yes, as he used a Gibson EB 3 and this is a reissue in the form of a Epiphone.

  • cooooooooooooooooooll!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool !!!

  • love that bass rake. it brings in da funk 2 da song. keep it rockin, man!

  • very, very good, thanks for that!

  • Great playing.

  • I'm sorry but if you can't MOVE when you play this, you should not bother.

  • Geeezzzz!!!! I was just about to say the same thing only MUCH MUCH LOUDER!!!!!

    LOL!

  • I love this so much I'm glad I found this today, I couldn't stop smiling the whole time you played , I just air do it. Thanks. Do you know Its Ecstacy when you lay next to me by Barry White. Hope you put it on. Check back later....

  • Great playing and sound! What amp please???

  • it's not too funky for an sg?

    (5 stars)

  • i have never seen anyone stand so still while listening to or playing KC! Nerves of steel, great job on bass!

  • Thanks my man. I have been playing that song for years with my band and never knew that bass line rake. I use just simplify that part but now I am going to start playing it right because you put the funk in it.

  • very cool!!!

  • VERY, VERY GOOD, THANKS

  • angus young?

  • Bro, you gotta tone down the enthusiasm, head banging, moving and grooving and also less funk! Hahaha, just kiddin.

  • Nice!!!!!

  • Nice cover, I hear this song 10000000 times, but have no idea how much the bass line rakes the strings.

  • ??? i have the same bass...and i dont get that tone for crap haha..what you got your stuff set too? like pickup n tones?

  • its his amp that gives him the better tone.

  • OH OH OH....while your at it...do Elvis Costello's "Pump it Up" bassline too...

  • I wanna see you play the bassline for Blondie's "Rapture"....always dug the heck outta that bassline...

  • ibougt this bass today t plays great $250 for it what kinda amp u usin?

  • Are those Roundwound strings on your bass or flats?

  • i played one of these before, it has like muwah~ sound to the neck pickup which i really like. it sounds creamy =P

  • Awesomeness! :) Thanks for posting this :)

  • Would you recommend getting one of these basses? I like the SG shape, but is it any good?

  • If you can find one for $100 bucks then by all means get it! These are definitely really fun basses to play. However, one of the first things you will find when playing this bass is that is has really bad neck dive. The headstock is heavy as hell. The bridge pickup is basically unusable by itself. Anyways, I only brought this bass just for its looks. There are always ways to make it sound better in terms of how you play and what you use for effects and amplifiers.

    Thanks!

  • @picure so im not gettin ripped if i buy this same guitar for 140?

  • @camarolover1982 I'm not Picure but its around 250-300 retail it seems. Issues i heard is that one of the pick ups is not great and buzzing but if its the tone your wanting its adaquate for the price and at 140 i would easily buy.

  • @nZymes I just bought one and I just love It! Has good mics and a very clear sound. It`s a rock bass!

  • @nZymes 2 years late in replying, but I thought I'd comment. The neck dive is nowhere near as bad as a Thunderbird. Also, the other guy was right about the bridge pickup.... both of these pickups are kind of like that. together, however, they are amazing. This instrument produces one of the deepest tones I've ever heard on ANY bass. While it definitely isn't a workhorse, it is one of those cheaper instruments that does one thing so very well that it belongs in a collection of more expensive ones

  • Bass is awesome.

  • Thats the prize!

  • you got it for $100?! That's not fair. I have to pay like £180 for it over here!!

  • I know $100? I have no idea what ~180 is but over here they sell for $300

  • I almost have the song down any chance you can send me transcription of the song.

    Thanks, MAR

  • thanks for the transcription, but i have to say that as a very frustrated beginner, it is really hard to see WTF your fingers are doing, and hear the bass in the song with your bass. it would really be appreciated if you did a slow run through the tabs first....you are doing something different than the tabs. i love this bass line and i hate being a beginner,,,,it sucks!!!

  • You only got it for $100?! I could save $200... :o

  • Men, you are good! yeah!

  • I can't get over how different this bass sounds to a Les Paul bass when the original 6-string Gibson SG was just a development of the Les Paul guitar: they turned both into basses and got two completely different instruments!

  • I tried an Epiphone Les Paul bass and it didn't have as deep a tone as my EB3.

  • YEAH!

  • Is that thing the full size of a Gibson SG in either guitar or bass form, or is it a sort of scale model?

  • Its an Epiphone EB3. Its long scale. Gibson however did make a long scale SG bass too. It was called the Gibson EB3L.

    Thanks

  • excellent job!

  • That bass is fab..as is your playing! Great job.

  • Rick Finch played/plays a Fender, but this is still pretty awesome! Hope you post some more KCSB tunes in the future (how about "Boogie Shoes?").

  • I also wanted to ask you how you would rate that Epi EB-3, in terms of finish, and overall playability. I love the proper long scale SG basses, the style of it is awsome. Sounds very bassy to me but that maybe just the way you eq'ed it.

  • Well, I got my EB3 used and it was in pretty good condition (like new). The finish is definitely not bad but its not also not its best feature. My one is made in Korea. The bass is very playable only that its extremely headstock heavy. The neck size is between a Rickenbacker and P Bass.

  • A good clear bassy sound however is very pretty hard to get. What you are hearing on this recording is me playing over the original bassline, so it is not accurate to judge the EB3's sound with this video. The bridge pickup is pretty useless on its own but when paired up with the neck pickup, it sounds pretty cool.

  • i hear ya, I have a Rickenbacker 4003 , and i feel the same way about the neck pickup on it. The configuration on this bass kind of reminds me of a Rickenbacker.Anyway, i appreciate the input and I will probably pick one of these things up, and mess around with it, maybe even swap the pickups for aftermarket Gotoh ones.

  • tight playing dude, I wanna see you groove out alittle more next time, let the FUNK take over.

  • groovy

  • awesome!!!!
