@stickdudeking777 Yeah but a proper communist, not a tyrannical, Nazi fraternising Stalinist asshole. Would never have been a cold war with him in charge.
@stickdudeking777 There hasn't really been an example of a proper communist state to base that opinion on, just dictatorships in a socialist disguise which isnt communism at all.
Lol i just wanted to add, that despite the nature of my comments that i am a believer in Democracy. I just think the world would have been a better place with Trotsky heading up the Soviet Union instead of Stalin. I think rock in general is pretty left wing..so im just following the trends =D
@EbsNhexz Socialism isn't innately evil, communism and socialism are two different things, Sweden has worked out well with socialism, but communism gives too much power to the government.
@stickdudeking777 I must interject, I believe that the Communism that you are referring to is better described as Stalinism. That was what was really applied to the Soviet Union in Stalin's time. True Marxist communism involves no government at all, only citizens to whom all wealth is collectively owned in the community. That's is at least what i've learned, I might still be wrong.
@flyingninja745 If i may offer a rebuttal, Marx didn't create communism. In fact, he heavily based his formation of economy on the economic systems of the Hebrews and early Christian communities. They, however, quickly fell out of power because certain people held too much power in sorting out the food and money. People are corrupt most of the time, and they choose to corrupt themselves.
Fucking great tune ` If you look at lyrics from the 90's and before, you'll notice that they are decent and you can tell that the artists have put effort in to writing them. look at a song today and there's 5 thing`s you'll DEFFINITELY come accross: 1) Money 2) Love. 3) Guns 4) Sex 5) Cars. And the rock and roll, Punk and decent genre's are DEAD. it's all R&B, hiphop, chart shit.. Like if you agree!
It's pop, it's punk, it's rock n'roll. Everyone talks of the defining bass sound of JJ Burnel, (and for good reason), but Hugh's vocals have a quality that has been copied and million times (and unacknowledged), but never equalled. Masculine, aggressive, and sarcastic, without losing tunefulness or depth.
@MassimoConnolli This song dates from 1977! Elastica were going in the 1990! Next you will be telling me that the (at least) 3 Elastica songs that sound suspiciously like Wire were actually ripped off by Wire. Perhaps The Stranglers and Wire built a time machine, travelled forward to the 1990's and copied Elastica, before travelling back to the 1970's!
iam 16....iam a music producer nd ive made more music than yuv heard so fuck off with yur bullshit sayn e has no say....hes probly got a better taste for music dan half the dicks who comented n dis video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Stalin did indeed have him assassinated in Mexico. Stalin tried to eliminate any other communist who might rival himself in popularity. He tried in vain to get his hands on Tito in Yugoslavia as well.
@LTF6161 yes, it's true Stalin assassinated Trotsky when wwii was over, he also had lenin poisoned back in the 1920's. Stalin had a fake letter purported to be from Lenin making Stalin his successor. Trotsky knew it was a fake but had no proof. hence, the tradition of conflict between the stalinists & trotskites. They all pieces of shit anyway but very relevant to our present day political necrosis.
When I was in high school (maaaany years ago) some of the teachers had their own rock band that would perform at special events, and they used to play this song. Was the first time I heard it, and I fell in love with it straight away. Great song, great band.
While agree with you that everyone has different tastes and we should respect that, maybe cause you are 15, you are very naive about the music business. I live in Manhattan and many of my friends are execs in the music industry. There is tons of music produced that is real shit agreed upon in conference rooms by managers, not by artists. First they decide the concept, than they find a "singer" or "band" with the right look and attitude for the concept, than someone writes the music and lyrics
I'm pretty sure it isn't 'Whatever happened to dear old Lenin?' but 'Whatever happened to dear old Lenny?' (and it's believed to be referring to Lenny Bruce). However of course there is a deliberate ambiguity there, as the last cited 'hero' was Trotsky and Lenny and Lenin sound alike.
I love shit like this, when I just randomly surf YouTube or something, and I find something that explains a joke. Thank you, Ben Croshaw, for furthering my Swiss Moments more than I'd ever like.
