If we look at principles such as the concept of personhood, he is right, they have not been proven to have cognitive though, nor to be sentient, also they are an evolutionary cul de sac, as their stomach's are not suited to eating bamboo, it is not all human reasons why they are becoming extinct, if they are meant to be carnivorous, they will never have the chance to evolve, if we leave them alone they will die, and if we put them into captivity, they will not reproduce....
