  • 3:49.... holly register¡¡¡¡

  • Comment removed

  • awww dead valley 69 by Sonic youth at the end :3

  • fuck you 11 faboys

  • this is gay

  • This sounds like falsetto but it isnt. There are a few live recordings here on youtube where he BELTS those last "WHEEELLSS GO DDRRIIVING SSLLLLLOOOOOOOWWWW!!!" screams

  • So, Cornell uses falsetto, for the high parts in this, correct? orrr [by God] he was just implementing his usual [yet AMAZING] belting technique? Truly curious...I can't quite tell, with him, sometimes. O.o

  • @TormentoftheDahaka Sounds to me like he's belting it. And yeah, it sounds amazing. :)

  • Chris is such a good singer.

  • I love 1:54-1:47, but the whole song too!!!:)

  • /watch?v=5fQv6ibM2IY

same riff as this song only used once by led zeppelin in any recording, the intro to the lemon song, interesting

  • @chino9992 that's because Led Zeppelin ripped off everything Howlin Wolf ever did. and this is a Howlin Wolf cover.

  • 3:48 anyone else think that chris has been listening to some king diamond?

  • @sixfeetontop it sounds like carpe diem baby.

  • Chris Cornell = Godlike

Chris Cornell with falsetto = Godlike and orgasmic

  • @SolBadguy314 No falsetto !!!

  • The main riff in this song reminds me of the same riff that was used in a Metallica song, but I can't think of which song it is. I know it's off of either the load or reload album. Can anyone help me out??

  • @sixfeetontop yeah it does... sounds like something off of Load. Probably because of the influence... Right now it makes me think of "Ronnie" but i dont think its the song you are looking for...

  • the lamest cover of a brilliant Howlin' Wolf number EVER!!

  • why does death valley 69 play at the end of this song?

  • bad cover of great song. No emotion or soul coming from Cornell. This should have never made the album I hope they didnt play it live it sucks i hate it

  • WOW!!!! They took on old post war era blues song, and turned it into a grundg song that could fit in the 90's. Thats really genius.

  • 3:45-05:08... GODLIKE

Ive been listening to Louder Than Love' for about million times but just noticed that lately... cool ah?

    cheers!

  • Sonic youth? :o

  • the riff principal es de Led Zeppelin

  • @Juviex no me jodas noob

  • @Kashmir0109 but this riff is from zeppelins cover

  • @Kashmir0109 killing floor is a howlin wolf song jimi hendriz covered it too

  • STILL AN AWESOME TUNE!!!

  • fookin chooown, love that slow riff, no wonder soundgarden thought to cover it...

  • cornell should sell oxy clean

  • As a guitarist inspired by Jimmy Page (which is weird because I play black/thrash metal go figure)

This is a fucking sexy ass riff.

  • i am india's greatest soundgarden fan! LOL. Modesty forbids but I like them far more than all the 'grunge' era bands

  • death vallay 69 !

  • WHEELS GO DRIVING SLLLLOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!

  • This is a cover of Howlin Wolfs Psychedelic version, Led Zeppelin Performed the same riff for their live intro to the Lemon Song!

  • @Facetious11 Wow! I love led zepp and this riff, to think all this time I've been listening to jimmy page. I nearly fell off my chair laughing. Page really must be a God :P

  • @countnerdo Howlin wolf.

  • How can something be so fucking awsome??

  • THIS IS AWSOME!

  • all i have to say is anyone who doesn't like the blues can get the fuck out now

  • Man, that's a godly scream...

  • Gran cover!

    Soundgarden es simplemente epico!

  • soundgarden s debut

  • when he screams at 4:00......you just might cream yourself...i know i did

  • I sure as hell did!!

  • To "lgn414bw ":

I got some newsflash for you boy: Cornell is not dead. Soundgarden is back, better than ever, with Cornell in the lead. So, hop on your horse and ride back to wherever you came from. You're barkin' up the wrong tree now boy

  • Cornell was fucking dead for years.

  • no hes not!

  • The true Cornell is.

  • @DigitalBeesTV I hope this is metaphorically an opinion. However if you're comenting on his solo career's past two releases I can't necesarily hate on this. Still, there are a few really good songs on carry on, just a couple I could pass on...Poison eye.

  • THATS MORE LIKE IT!

  • @CanadaGrunge If you dig this track, our band recorded a version that is a take on the electric version that Howlin Wolf recorded but we made it alot heavier, similar to soundgardens version.

  • cornells not dead!!! infact SG is back together! :D

  • axl is such a whiny bitch all the time yet cornell is just straight baddass

  • And interestingly enough, Axl's the one that tries to act like a hard nut, yet Cornell is just a totally chilled out and cool guy.. GnR could have a go at Nirvana and the grunge scene as much as they wanted.. but they knew they could never say shit about Soundgarden..

  • @venusasaboy1991 oh definitly gnr were huge fans of soundgarden and axl even personally wrote a letter to chris cornell saying how he has one of the best voices ever and how he thinks they are the next big thing

  • @venusasaboy1991 There's actually an interview with Chris Cornell where he talks about Axel Rose. The song Limo Wreck is actually a song written about Axel. Axel Rose snubbed Chris Cornell.

  • @venusasaboy1991 "I enjoy Soundgarden. The singer just blows me away." - Axl Rose

Even that nutjob bows down to Chris Cornell

  • @venusasaboy1991 Guns and Roses weren`t that great in my opinion, a diva and three other pretty chilled out dudes with some good songs, that`s all.

  • ok her´s my fav

  • cornell=god

    axl=sucky shitbag

  • @salmon020 You can't possibly be referring to one of the greatest singers, songwriters, and frontmen in history, Axl Rose, could you?

If so, do us all a favour and go get hit by a bus.

  • @Cyanarchy i think i made it pretty clear chief.

  • @salmon020 Ah, well than you're just an idiot, that'll show me to give others the benefit of the doubt.

  • @Cyanarchy

    I like arrogant people ;)

  • @Cyanarchy exactly what i was gonna say chris cornell is the man but is axl rose is the fucking MAN!!!!

  • @hefra344 Two of the greatest singers and songwriters in history.

  • @Cyanarchy yea

  • @salmon020 If you dig this track, our band recorded a version that is a take on the electric version that Howlin Wolf recorded but we made it alot heavier, similar to soundgardens version.

  • @salmon020 why

  • @salmon020 Axl = god

    Salmon020= sucky fagface shitbag

  • @arnolddrummer not at all

  • AXL ROSE FUCKING SUXS

  • Cornell is god!

  • 2:57 to 3:01 in the background is amazing, one of my favorite Cornell singing moments. Cornell hits 2 completely effortless G5's with trills.

  • Howlin Wolf

  • live version is def better, sounds rawer

  • Hey everybody! What does this word combination mean-smokestack lightning can anybody explain me?I'll be very grateful.I guess it's some slang, isn't it?

  • Here's an answer, apparently from Howlin' Wold himself, quoted on Wikipedia:

Wolf said the song was inspired by watching trains in the night: "We used to sit out in the country and see the trains go by, watch the sparks come out of the smokestack. That was smokestack lightning."[

  • you couldnt figure that out? hahaha

  • @ouygo If you dig this track, our band recorded a version that is a take on the electric version that Howlin Wolf recorded but we made it alot heavier, similar to soundgardens version.

  • @KillinFloorNYC spam much?

  • @omegalen slightly excessive innit.

  • Rob Halford, is that you? :P

  • is cornells highest note in this or beyond the wheel? or another song? ive read somewhere that it was in full on kevs mom but i dont believe that.

  • it's here... holy damn that's a G... my highest note AN ENTIRE OCTAVE UP :O fuuuuuck

beyond the wheel's an F... even that's higher than Axl or the Skid Row guy??? How the hell...

  • I think it's higher than that. I read it somewhere but can't remember the website.

  • he hits a high A, higher than this high G.

    axl rose doesn't go high!

  • axl doesnt go as high as most ppl think, but hes hit an A5 before twice, one time in 2002 and the othr in 2006/7. axl can go lower than chris tho. hes hit a B1 b4, chris can only go to D2.

both of them r still in my top 5 fav singers tho !

  • but besides in range, cornell probably bests axl in every other category

  • skid row guy is sebastian bach. and they both hav exceeded G5 before. ive herd chris hit an A5 before but idr wich song

  • the highest note on a studio recording is in full on kevin's mom, that's right, but it's only one single note. That's isn't that hard to do. The hardest thing, at least for me, was always to keep these high notes, which he does in songs like Loud Love or SMokestack Lightening.

Apparently the highest note Chris ever hit, was during a live concert in 88, the audio is also posted up here on youtube.

Chris probably hit much more high notes, during practicing, but probably coudln't control them.

  • cool, very in depth. thanks man. coudl yo utell me which part of full on kevs mom he hits such a high note? the only high note i can think of in that song is when he says "mommmmmmyyyyyyyy" hahaha. right before the solo. so i guess thats it?

  • yes you are right, it the mommmmy scream, to non-singers it sounds deeper than some other notes like the ones in Say Hello 2 Heaven. The reason for this is, it contains the vocal O which sounds deeper than the A on "Say" from Say Hello to heaven.

In fact the high note isn't the whole word, but only the Y, which is also a high sounding vocal.

  • lol do you post that same comment in every video?

    seriously.

  • I know Cornells vocals are ace like, one of the only good grunge vocalists, but it doesn't do him justice to be covering such a man as Howlin Wolf, nice music though!

  • Coming down

Sadie I love it [Coming down]

    Now now now

    Death Valley '69!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Man, Soundgarden should have recorded more stuff like THIS! Well, except for Kim Thayil's embarrassingly bad guitar solo. Everything else about this song is cool!

  • one of my favorite bands, covering one of my favorite songs....fantastic. :D

  • Then why isn't your user name SndGrdnSSLightn?

  • Cornell's voice in this song is unreal, those high parts blew my mind the first time I heard them. Great song.

  • great song

  • soundgarden 4 life!
