that sucked glad he left or they got rid of him that wasnt event couture that was more ready to wear john knows the real defenition of haute couture fantasy, innovation and ulitamet luxury
This is when models had curves to their bodies as well. Yasmin is my inspiration, I will become a model because of her, and I will try and make it without only eating 3 leafs of lettuce a day.
snmkytkn-THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENT; THE ENTIRE FASHION INDUSTRY IS AFTER SKIPPY MONEY AND SO EVERYTHING IS NOW MADE TO APPEAL TO TEENS, NOT MATURE WOMEN. YES, DIOR USED TO STAND FOR GROWNUP SOPHISTICATION, THE "EXQUISITE CREATURE", THE FEMME DU MONDE WORE DIOR. And Yves Saint Laurent's retirement also marked the end of that era. (skippy is an acronym for school kids -with-independent purchasing power)
This was what Dior was all about. Chic, elegant, noble and dignified. I am sorry for today's Dior. Especially a few years ago all their ads were full of girls looking like sluts, lesbians or drug addicts...
i agree, like 2004 when it was all about junkie/whore/slut, but Galliano's latest Jazz Club Collection and the latest haute couture collections have been truly Dior. But Galliano tends do everything too gaudy.
I must disagree, John still keeps Dior at its elegance, with the execption of the 2001 Haute Couture Collection. John does GREAT things with dior. This collection is not even Couture by the stabdards of the 1980's. John is the best thing to happen to Dior since Christian Dior himself!
and umm yeah I guess that 2004 ready to wear collection was not ok lol. It was to closly realated to his Egyptian inspired Haute Couture collection he showed that season (Which was great) but other than that John is A FASHION GOD!
Yes I agree. I think he's a genious! I just meant that in comparision with the old spirit of Dior, his designs can sometimes be indecent. But we live in another time now, and fashion changes. If I could afford it I would purchase a CD haute couture creation.
Me encanta.
i hate how the runways are elevated and the photographers lay all over it its so ugly

@brianb3000 It didn't suck, it was a different time, and not ready-to-wear. Besides, learn to spell.

no, it was Marc Bohan - Ferre didn't start designing for Dior until 1989 or thereabouts.

and besides, they never show the clothes like this. They just walk out and walk back. I love turns and twists like this!^^

I love Yasmin's and the others' walk! It's so graceful to watch, and they had expression on their face. Those girls are high fashion models!

I prefer my haute couture patently unwearable.
