The screwed up thing is the they're going to be extinct in all likelihood. On one side people don't care. Close to that is a lot of cultural issues leading to the Bushmeat trade. Most of the people fighting the threats to them are zealots concerned more with ideological purity than getting results. The world fiddles while these incredible animals go extinct.

We should fix the wrong things we've done. Hunting an animal to make an ashtray out of it's hand is wrong. It goes beyond caring, we must respect the natural world in its entirety. We, us, them, humans are nothing in the grand scheme of the universe and yet there is some poignancy in the fact that we are the first species thus far and on earth to have come across the path of advanced technology. If used wisely and conscientiously, it can give us the heavens....
