  • FIRST in 3 months lol

  • I feel like I'm there. The audio is so awesome.

  • Dawn Treader is my favorite book in that series--and I loooove that series.

  • you could have got sued over that, not too smart Liz...

  • where is the monster

  • this has got to be the nerdiest prank I've ever seen.

  • Your grad-school friends are amazing. So approve of the Chronicles of Narnia reading party. I need dorkier friends.

  • i thought it was going be a good prank

  • Nice. Aha. That prank was classic.

  • so wait. You tricked your neighbors by saying you'd give them 3,000$ and then you had a book club meeting? and none of your neighbors received any money?

NO WONDER PEOPLE DO NOT READ. It's going to trick them out of 3,000 dollars. DO not read. ONce again, DO NOT READ PEOPLE. DON'T EVEN READ THIS COMMENT IT COULD TRICK YOU OUT OF MONEY TOOO! STOP READING BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!! you're still reading this aren't you. AREN'T YOU?!!

  • noooooooooo I coudnt stop reading sry XD read till the very end! pls dont trick me out of money! cause I already have none!

  • what if I or someone gives you money and then you in turn keep it- but instead of keeping it for a chance to win more money upwards of 3,000$ you could instead give it to me. Who will in turn change your moneys into millions of internetsgold.

  • I would reply in a very polite way:

"no thank you "^^ internetgolds=not sounding like good investment!

  • Internetsgolds™ is not a scam! Internetsgolds™is like real money only it's like real money that you give to me and I then facilitate the investment and create: Internetsgolds™

  • that's an insane ammount of reading

  • such an awesome prank - most definitely a nerdfighter take on practical jokes.

  • You should have had a real sea monster waiting to spring out at an opportune moment. But, I'm not sure where you get those...

  • Apparently from Jane Austen (who luckily lives on my bookshelf). Search "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters" on YT. Amazing.

  • (The video you're looking for is entitled "Quirk Classics #2: Book Trailer," and it will change your life.)

  • Do you have a tiny house for her? A tchotchke chalet, perhaps? Of course, it would have to be an A-Frame.

SSS was great! Dashwood looks like Seymour. And, as I watched, I was shocked at the classic horror film faux pas - standing near the water!

But, in all fairness, the Victorians didn't know any better. They wouldn't even conceive of scary novels such as "Night Terrors on Chalmsworthy Avenue," with Frederick Krueger as the blood-soaked antagonist until long after the Queen's death.

  • I'm still debating on if that was funny what you did to your neighbors, or just cruel....

  • hmm... Interesting

  • Although I did ger what was being said in the video, most of the time I was mesmerized with how you looked and carried yourself.

It's a guy thing. Usually, guys can't hang on this long.

  • oh wow grad school. what major are you in it for? or what profession are you pursuing?

  • I'm studying Cultural Anthropology.

  • Bahahahaha! and Dawn Treader is my favorite!

  • Naaw, I was so confident my guess was the closest, since you seem to have to read, pardon my French, shitloads of books for the classes you take. That number is closer to my tally.. Well, congratulations Culwin!

Oh, and thank you for another great video, they stop me from devolving into a complete cynic. Keep 'em coming! Cheers from Sweden.

  • Thats a lot of reading! good work! keep it up!

  • The boys you go to graduate school with REALLY look like they go to graduate school.

  • That's the University of Heliopolis for you... :-)

  • Glad to see Marx & Englels in the center of the book pile!!

  • I can't really explain how much respect I give to you for doing a prank that's actually clever. Most people would do something that's futile and a waste of time. Like, whoopie cushions, saran wrap over the toilet seat, spraying the house phone buttons with hair spray, etc.

  • To LadyReginaSmiles:

I try to say this with no offense, but I find it a bit rude that you would post a comment like that on a video. It could really hurt someone by posting something like that. I'm not trying to tell you that you shouldn't think like that, I'm just saying broadcasting hurtful feelings like that isn't cool. I'm a lot younger than you and Lizz are, but I know better than to post something cruel to someone else on YouTube. Sorry if I wasted your time! :-) -loislover4000

  • So don't watch her. It ain't rocket science to figure out the answer there!

We, however, find Lizz, Alexandra, and Invisisis to be very cool'n interesting. It's why we watch them.

  • Maybe you haven't made a contest out of it because you don't have a cool T-Shirt to give away, just a thought. You know, one of those things that pops into your head every once in a while that may or may not (in your case, probably the latter) branch out and become an idea or maybe even a theory of sorts.

Lizz, I find your videos scintillating&I find YOU quite adorable.I'm glad you're a woman of great confidence&1 that would not dignify naysayers with responses that take up your valuable time.

  • Thanks so much! Your awesome... is indeed something quite clever.

  • Second =)

  • ahh poor flat mates :p you got them all excited! Awesome prank though ^_^

The narnia thing is also pretty awesome, although I didn't really like the voyage of the dawn trader, the first few books of the series are just much more exciting!

  • I loved the prank, and I fell sorry for you poor brain!

  • What other books are on that stack? I see the Marx-Engel reader and that's all I could really see clearly.

  • this is a very important question:

as a homosexual male, do i still get to be a sister?

    <3

  • Anyone can be a part of the salad, regardless of their gender and/or sexuality! :-)

  • I didnt know fogell aka Mclovin and Aldous Snow were your roommates?

  • I wasn't even paying attention to this video, when I heard my name!!! All that reading I did in college finally served some sort of purpose!

    A WINNER IS ME!!!

  • congrats to you and the reading being done *whew*

that was an awesome prank but I would have been so sad to find out I wasn't getting the cash!

  • Congratulations!!! Did you see the banner Alexandra put on the main sister salad channel page?

  • Whoa, too awesome!!!

    I'm famous now! WHEEEEEE

  • blah blah blah culwin blah blah blah blah

    :-D

  • Wow that is the best prank ever.

But I would have been very sad to find out it wasn't true..

And how long did it wake for yall to read that entire book? That would be uncomfortable sitting in that chair for so long. lol

  • It took about seven hours, with a dinner break.

  • Wow, that's dedication! haha

  • Oh man! I need to pull a prank again soon

  • such dedication to your prank!

  • hehe, that sounded pretty elaborate....so cute, so mischievous! ;)

  • The mere fact that you put so much thought & energy into staging such an elaborate prank should be irrefutable proof to your friends that you care about them a lot!

  • That is brilliant!

  • oh grow up, you should never spend your money unless you recieved the three thousand dollars, it's your fault. Lizz you rock!

  • I participated in some great pranks in college, but this one tops all of 'em. wtg!

  • Prank Oh no- now I'll have to see if Royal Norwegian cruise will refund my $2,600, yeah real freaken funny, that was hilarious I hope you find my law suit as funny.

  • I love your intro slogan "I'm sorry its been a while since I posted a video" you say that every video AWSOME!!!!

  • Ha! True...

  • So nerdy! A party where you sit around reading to each other? Hilarious and wonderful.

  • What happened when you told them it was all a prank?

That is a well thought out prank very official and so crazy it wouldn't be Impossible but most likely! And you had every one of them fooled. I'm glad your powers are for good and not evil or I think mankind would be in trouble :)

  • I love Voyage of The Dawn Treader!

  • 1) Amazing prank!!!

    2) I want to attend a party like that - I would vote Silver Chair for reading aloud

  • Well, Kristine has one of these parties every year, and she's going through the series in order. So, SIlver Chair will be next year!

  • woah, Lizz.

    that alot of pages.

and i love the chronicals of narnia. but with me being the oh-so-organized person i am, i lost my huge book of all of the chronicals of narnia before i could read every chronical. D:

which basically means, after i finish the harry potter series, i'm going to have to start the chronicals of narnia over again AND THEN i have like two other books that i randomly bought that i need to read too. I'M SO OVERWHELMED. D:

  • i just realized i spelled chronicles wrong about a gizzilion times haha sry.

  • Im not your sister im your brother. o_O

  • Thats freakin amazing! I wish I could have been there to see it!

  • "realityfree" brilliant name and concept - plus you were FIRST!

Quite the elaborate prank, Lizzy. Do you have too much time on your hands now? Always good to see and hear you and find out what craziness goes on in your world these days. Love you!

  • 6th nubs

  • Hee, the Narnia party! Voyage of the Dawn Treader is my favorite of the Narnia books.

  • that was such an intense prank!

    hah.

  • The only thing is that, given the amount of deception, I doubt this experiment could ever truly be approved as even in common areas there is an expectation of privacy. Certainly so in the case where cameras are involved.

It's neat, but I think I would've seen through it. I doubt the ethical challenges would allow the review board to approve it.

The compensation would've clinched knowing it for me. ;-)

I do like how everyone seemed tickled more than ticked, though. =)

  • Here's how we addressed that issue:

First of all, we claimed that video had been recorded but not watched, and that if consent was not given it would be destroyed without anyone ever looking at it. Also, we included these comments under the Risks and Benefits section:

"Risks of participation in this research are considered to be minimal, and are restricted to the sorts of risks likely to be faced by any resident of university-organized communal housing..."

  • "...As strict confidentiality will be maintained for those who consent to participate in the study, no risks are expected with respect to the public dissemination of personal information, habits, or proclivities. Mild emotional distress upon learning that ones activities have been videotaped is anticipated, but previous studies in a similar vein have found no long-term detrimental ramifications."

  • One of our neighbors expressed some skepticism that the experiment would be ethically approved, but another, who himself does psychological research, insisted that it could be given the precautions listed, and named off a collection of similarly dubious experiments, such as performing fake knee and heart surgeries, that other review boards had approved.

  • Well, it does give an opt-out, and clearly informing people beforehand would've changed their behavior. Dunno if I buy the risk/benefit part, but I'm a skeptic at heart for well or ill.

The truly neat thing is that it brought people together who normally would have much more limited social interaction. Very good for a get-to-know. I like the end-effect. =)

  • Nice
