This is the same concept Honda uses in their shocks.

The rubber bellows offer no protection to the rod plunger. Like a CPU, a shock should have a dual or quad core, etc. This would allow extremely heavy loads.
We'll leave it to Ron Jeremy to decide which shock is better. Bilstein or Monroe.

my WV golf has bilstein high performance shocks and i would never change for anything else . great stuff!

@bcatz454 most people (especially americans) say it that way.
Bilstein is a German company though, so to follow in the german language ei=ie in english and ie=ei respectively.
Thus, "die" in german is pronounced "dee", or (more relative to the subject matter) "stein" is pronounced as "stine".
