maby, but its only because hockey is the most popular sport in canada. less people play hockey in the U.S., so obviously there are less great players. if hockey was the #1 sport in the US, the NHL would be dominated by US players (in my opinion of course). imagine great athletes like kobe bryant learning hockey when he was a kid instead of basketball. id say the US does pretty damn good at sports we dont care much for (hockey, soccer, etc.).

Also, you should keep in mind that hockey is the national sport in Canada. It's a hockey culture.
