Black Americans seem very frustrated with us Latinos (I am latina) I feel like they are trying to force us choose white or black in our latin countries. We accept our mixtures something that is not as common in the U.S.
Another thing we must stop is beginning our history at the Trans Atlantic. Again, we have a long storied history not only on the Mother continent but on various parts of the planet. We have to stop seeing ourselves as victims.
Lets also not overlook the fact that the black man circumnavigated the world first and had inhabited areas on the western hemisphere long before someone enslaved him. For those who question this, be mindful to research first. You will find irrefutable evidence.
Doesn't matter if you're from the United States, Cuba, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, or any country. If you're black or of African descent, you're black or of African descent. Torii Hunter should have made his points clearer.
@tolldoll100 Torii Hunter is an ignorant self centered selfish asshole! His ignorance was insulting and furthermore shows the rabid ignorance that exists furthermore on so many levels!!
In the US people have used Black and African American interchangeably so much, that many don't use Black to describe Afro-Latinos, but will use the Spanish word negros.
little black american boys are shunned in preference to black latinos that only claim black when convient, yeah we know their as black as us but we don;t need people that stand in our faces on jobs, in military, in discussion around whites saying they are not black then when stats are convenient they roll with the ink, being black is also a state of mind, yt surpremacy has got u calling black ppl a hair do centered, history started in Africa so its the worlds center
@nothinelse2seehere1 There is NOT necessarily a preference in Black Latinos! And also why do you say they "claim black when convienent"? If they don't identify as black then perhaps that is NOT the identity they choose! You have to understand that if Hispanic/Latino is used as a mutually exclusive term in the states and if Afrodescent Latinos choose just the label Hispanic/Latino over others why don't you do the same by criticizing lighter skinned or mestizo looking Hispanic/Latinos!
@nothinelse2seehere1 Also, you said you don't need people standing in our faces on jobs, in military, and in discussions etc and saying they are NOT black! I mean you say they are as black as us, but we are all black! We should NOT be dividing ourselves up! If people just choose to identify as one thing they should be able to but it does NOT mean they are denying something!
Great video! Torii Hunter seems a bit ignorant and could have clarified himself better in his points! Ignorance is a bliss! Greetings to you Mark Wells and great job at speaking on this matter because I actually was waiting for you to have done this video regarding this matter!
