Its a EMD High Nose "SD9", they were built in the 1950's. Used first as main line road power, then used (1970's to 1990's) as industry switch runs, branch lines and yard switching.

no. but we've talked about a signal and detection system.. perhaps in a few years. We have also toyed with the idea of computer controlled operation.

They are real sounds. They have been recorded trackside ourselves, or dubbed from a DVD or VHS video.

Membership dues fund the construction and maintenance of the layout. I don't know what the layout is worth, but we put much less than a thousand bucks per year into it...
