  • the chorus reminds me of line dancing?

  • Great song and great band but not a great mix.

  • @malectric i thought the same, the vocals are too loud.

  • I´m 25 years old, i am a girl I was looking for other band... the first time i listen this band...

    what a powerful bass...

  • Even 17 years old kid like me can love this song.. And I love sound of Burke's bass in every song.

  • @GrungeRay94

    *cough* you're a tool *cough*

  • @TheBoomstickhero

    Hah, why a tool?

  • yea i here that good ears

  • Theres roots of Humble Pie here.

  • this stuff is awesome! reminds me a lot of Rush but far more raw...

  • I always thought of Budgie as Wales answer to early Rush

  • @baldrick98007 I always thought Burke Shelley was a less attractive Gedddy Lee!

  • @baldrick98007 Sucks for them 'cause Rush sucks

  • @70goldtop rush doesnt suck

  • I'm 20 years old and my dad got me into these bad boys, and this tune and 'Napoleon Bonapart' are just immense. What a band. Old school stuff is amazing

  • Andy Low wrote the song, and his version is also good, and also on YT.

  • They are the original metal band.....just sayin

  • @ChasingFlies

Oh, I think Steppenwolf, at least, beat them by a few years. Born to be wild?

  • @nicmart Ahh, you may be right. Breadfan was the first metal sounding song i remember. Born to be wild may beat it out though.

  • @ChasingFlies

I think you have the good fortune to be younger than I am. It's hard to know what defines a "metal" band, but Blue Cheer was not far from the mark, nor was Ten Years After. Blue Oyster Cult's Tyranny and Mutation album predated Budgie's Mountain by 2 years, and few people would say that wasn't a "metal" album. In the end its all just music and the categories don't matter.

  • @nicmart I agree, I could care less about the genre of the music as long as It isn't the synthetic pop/rap that is out now it should usually be listenable...though there is ALOT of crap out there.

  • @ChasingFlies

Would you say that Jimmy Page/Zep was "metal"?

  • @nicmart Zepplin was EVERYTHING and one of my favorite bands because of their versitility, I'm not sure but breadfan seems to be the first.

  • The Welch Geddy Lee!! fuck they rock!

  • @Dragonsbaynn - don't you mean Geddy Lee is the Canadian Burke Shelley?

  • Просто СКАЗКА! Лет 20 "млел" от BUDGIE ,и наконец сегодня УВИДЕЛ. СУПЕР!!!

  • Looks like my accountant with a wig on but who gives a shit. Incredible live voice.

  • Is that Glen Danzig on the drums?

  • @cfrancisco74 haha, just spat food on my screen. Well spotted.

  • @cfrancisco74 LOL! No that's Steve Williams :)

  • some dumb ass autotune rap singers disliked this vid. what dicks. I'm only eleven and i have managed to push myself away from today's sea of bad music. There has been no period with less musical direction than the 2000's. Ever!

  • I love the helium high voice.

  • I'm going to see them on 11.11.10 in my city, and i sure do hope they play this one :D

  • Love this band

  • Understandable they weren't very popular. This is junk 70's rock.

  • @RockSalami WTF !!

Give me "junk rock" like this anyday.

  • @RockSalami

    STFU baby dick :)

  • @RockSalami Dude this is the evolution of heavy metal.

  • @MoOsHw, ok, but I'll go for primal early LedZep n BlackSabbat, - they were the big bang of heavy metal, along with Hendrix. Budgie was an asteroid fragment that strayed into oblivion.

  • @RockSalami Fair enough, good metaphor too.

  • @dontmesswithhardbob what? :p

  • fucking best band in the world

  • hey flatland, yer a douche. Yep i said it and it's gonna stick!

  • Budgie is great! If you like this, check Red Rocket here on you tube.."i´ve got a date", "All by myself" or "Concrete boots"

  • Great Album all around! Good song, but really there are finer tunes in the album. Great stuff!

  • I get frustrated at the confusion between Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. They are not the same but similar. Heavy Metal just has that tone that makes it Heavy Metal, Hard Rock just has that more agressive structure. In fact, Heavy Metal bands (notably black sabbath) were emerging before hard rock even existed.

  • Hard Rock did very much exist when Sabbath came along, 'Satisfaction' and 'My Generation' being the first famous examples, dating to 1965/66. Heavy Metal pre-dates even that, with 'You Really Got Me' out in 1964. This is often glossed over, because the Metal brotherhood doesn't like the idea that the original Britpop band invented Metal- and The Kinks are rather coy about it themselves.

  • @Leberteich Well, most people don't want to realize that Heavy metal evolved from the white blues movement of the mid 60:s.

  • @Leberteich some say that cream played the first heavy rock songs, sunshine of your mind , white room etc. ther were other 60s bands to , tomorow my white bycicle.

  • My Music Really Sux Compared To This

  • one of the original british metal groups

    and one of the best

listen to " in for the kill"

  • I just recently got into Budgie, and wow, these guys are like a gem that i found worth millions..great old rock musi, and real music :-)

  • There is always some anus complaining about spelling

  • These guys rock! I was a roadie for them a few weeks back before they toured Australia, the guys are really nice, though of course it is Craig Goldy (Dio) on guitar now. They played a sweet show!

  • I am 55 years old and I can still remember when I bought this album. This tune really rocks.............can't get it off my mind

  • @tommyau2006 I am 42.... I remember the first time I hear Budgie. I know two other people who actually know them and dig them.

  • yup, when rock was cool, not pretty...

  • im 42 i have been listening to these brillant artists since i was14 they also played a big part of growing up ther words & music will stay with me till i DIE they play real music. I LOVE U BUDGIE FOREVER IN MY HEART PEARL HOUSE

  • I saw them in Allentown, PA. They opened for Judas Priest in a catholic high school auditorium that might have held 2,000. The entrance to the place was a single gym door from an outside walkway. Still have to laugh that JP played in a catholic HS gym.

  • @nmdpa3 I was there also.Sometime around 1980.Was it Agge Hall?

  • I think it was down around 4th street. Believe the school was Sacred Heart. Use to see JP though at Agge Hall. Would always be 1st row with elbows one the stage. Those were the days!

  • @nmdpa3 You're thinkin' about Central Catholic High on 4th street in A-Town, across the street from Sacred Heart Hospital. I was also there. Yeah, it was w/Judas Priest. It was a triple billing, from what I can remember, but the third band canceled and I think it was a local band that filled their spot. I'll probably think of the third/canceled band next week, I know they were somewhat heard of at the time. Possibly "Tough Darts" or something like that.

  • @fishinsox I was also at the Budgie show in Allentown. I DO write things down. Show was at "Rockne Hall" on May 13, 1978 it was Budgie, Judas Priest & locals The Cariger Murphy Band. Hope I was able to put yourmind at rest now.

  • @1976GeorgeMa Thanks, yeah, May "78" puts it into perspective. Funny, how we can forget specifics, but still kinda' repeat the feeling of where or lives were, at that time. Rock On & On & On......

  • Also caught Budgie & JP in the late 70's at, I believe the good ol' Roxy Theater in Northampton, PA. Shit, I knew I should've written all this stuff down back then, cause the 70's were not kind to my mind......Anyway, Budgie was booked to play at the Sterling Hotel in Allentown this past spring, but was cancelled because the band couldn't fly out of the UK due to the Icelandic volcano eruption. It was later rescheduled for May 28 & 29th at the Garfield Hotel in Northampton, PA.

  • Some life-long buddy's of mine offered me tickets, but I couldn't get away from my job, here in South Carolina. Unfortunately, the shows were cancelled again and as far as I know, not rescheduled. I was told that with the passing of Ronnie James Dio, the band members were taking time off to attend memorials. Now, as of Nov. 9th, Budgie's rescheduled European tour has again been canceled, due to Burke's serious illness, requiring emergency surgery. We sincerely wish him a fast, full recovery.

  • The title shows just how bad some people can mess up with spelling... ONE FRIGGIN LETTER, damn it XD

  • these guys are basically a pre-neil peart rush, they r awesome

  • this song is great, grew up listening to these guys, too bad i never got to c them n concert... : (

  • dang ur old! jk im 15 soo yeah

  • lol yah,im 16 and have heard these guys as long as i can remember... got like every cd

  • Man I haven't heard this one in a long time. Saw them a few years ago at the Sunken Garden in SA with Moxie and Michael Schenker. We thought the singer, John Burke Shelley was Geddie Lee until we found out later.

  • wow i always thought the singer was a women...

  • "Ain't nobody you can be"

I am guessing it means....you cant be me.....

    just using logic....lol

    could be saying "beat"

  • Great song with a great groove. I can't make out the second line, though. Ain't nobody you can be?

  • God this band was sooooooooooooo good to see in the 70's especially this song wer r u Burke

  • What an awsome song.. I am new to Budgie, and so far, LOVING it!!

  • Sorry to hear that,I always liked there music,I always liked METAL .They have real feel to there music, extroidinary stuff.

  • Congratulations. Today this video was selected by the NYC Punk Rock Evolution Foundation vlog. Budgie, with defiant lyrics and raw power, paved the way for the next phase of music: punk rock.

  • Great. :) Hail 70's!!

  • Budgie rocks!!!! awsome tune

  • the cult of rock music!!!

  • Gosh, there isn't much left for me to say about this performance by Budgie, because everyone else seemed to say what I was thinking!

This WAS the British song that Ronnie Van Zant WISHED he'd written for Lynyrd Skynyrd. And that chap over on lead guitar DOES look like Andy Kaufman (actually, the whole band looks like a bunch of winners).

  • Montain?

  • lol thats hilarious montain/moutain. mounain motrain

  • ah i just read budgie is a type of bird. it all makes sence now

  • nossa, eu tenho esse dvd oO

  • Tbm tenho aqui, Hinos do Rock nao é? xD

  • isso mesmo, tem Lynyrd Skynyrd, só por isso comprei o dvd, e de quebra descobri budgie que é legal tmb '-'

  • A jutro Lublin bedzie witał:-)

  • jeah!

Poznań już powitał i niestety pożegnał, ale było genialnie. Chętnie bym do Pani dołączył na replay ;)

    Dobrej zabawy!

  • Ladies and gentlemen, Glenn Danzig on drums...

  • hahaha that's funny shit

  • with Andy Kaufman on guitar...

  • I base ALL of my opinions/actions on DLR, that's why I've decided to become bald and washed up.

  • Fuck David Lee Roth :)

  • Holy Moses, who cares about David Lee Roth?? Take a look at the "Yankee Rose" video, and tell me, if you still like this piece of a shit musician ;)

  • Nothing. Just come back home safely.

  • The chorus to this one always reminded me of Status Quo, I love the riffs in this

  • I'm a stupid american and I am enjoying the video.

You dumbass foreigners sure do make some good music!

  • Aint Youtube great!?!?!?!?,,,

  • Fuck Yeah youtube is my internet jukebox and probably my no.1 source of entertainment. Long Live Youtube!!!

  • wicked cool song..so glad I finally found some Budgie on here..new fan of them.

  • This is an Andy Fairweather Low composition I think - it was on the album 'Spider Jiving' - great album.

  • Love it!!! What a beat!!!

    Thanks for posting!!

  • Hey, Godotwatt! Why aren't you in Iraq fighting your president's war? Pussy!

  • i am so what

  • This song always makes me wanna dig out my nazareth albums. But by the time it's over, I can't be bothered.

  • Admittedly this is not good sound quality but this line-up was superb live. The Bandolier tour in 74 was great. This band still has a very loyal following and apparently they are still out there gigging to to continuing interest.

  • uh, no.

  • The republicans are always bitching that the democrats are always bitching. Grow up and get a party. Shut up and listen to the jams.

  • and you sound like a republican because your always bitching about the democrats

  • KEEP YOUR SHIT ASS AMERICAN TALK FOR YOURSELF! on allmost every fuckin video on youtube there are some stupid americans talking politics instead of enjoying the video !

  • Greatest band evah. I was in my teens and played their records over and over, was a great thing then. Long live rock!

  • this tune has everything! sex, drugs and rock and roll!

  • dude!!!! they just walked outta my pub!! haha, man i am so honoured, i just had a cigereet with Burke!!!!!

  • great band, always on the road. and who could come up with a better song title than, "hot as a dockers arm pit"

  • andy fairweather low wrote this i think

  • i bought this album when it came out in 73.

Always rated them and its a shame that they got little critical acclaim.

This riff is excellent, and vocals deserve classic status.

Other song i really rated was " in the grip of the tyre fitters hand" ,liked the vocals.

Still never heard them on planet rock.

  • is it pop?

  • lol

  • No offense to Rush...I like Rush. But gee, Geddy sure looks, sounds, and writes like Burke...coinsedence? I dont think so...

  • Weii,,,Since Budgie STARTed 5 years before Rush, you have it the other way around

  • You've got that right, budgie predate rush. i remember buying fly by night and thinking theyd ripped budgie off!

  • I think the Rush comparisons stem from 2 things.

    1 they are a trio

2 Burke Shelley looks like Geddy Lee

Thats the only things they have in common.

  • Plus the lead singer's sound the same.

  • their tone is heavenly

  • Budgie,Groundhogs got a love nature

  • metallica sucks shit

  • It's "while i'm playing with the rest" But he's Welsh bless him.

  • Great mun!!

  • isn't it, while I'm playing like the rest. Just wondering?

  • supported budgie when Burke Shelley left

    still the bollox

  • Burke Shelly never left. He was the only member to be in the band from the start and still plays with them now! How do I know? My dads the drummer (Steve Williams)

  • my influence

    myspace/gramrye

  • great blues/hardrock hymn!!!!!!

  • you dare call me moutain mf?!

  • wife says im sick playin budgie all the time, she's from Bali so OK. 22 year old son listens now too. 1st is always best. Burke is in my hall of fame.

  • i saw them last year in falmouth, they were good, but quite a small venue.

  • It actually sounds pretty great...but the mix is retarded.

Almost no guitar at all...jeez. What a shame!

  • Must of seen Budgie 20 times in the 70's them and the goundhogs regulars at County Rock Northampton and they still playing live now

  • Budgie do a wicked cover of "Baby Please Don't Go"

  • this is harable

  • Yea they do remind me of early Rush as well.

  • Don't make my bed, for me to lie on while I'm playing <what??>

  • good question. I've tried to figure that one out for a while now, too. I've gotten a few different lyrics online, but none seem to make sense.

  • Since when did Budgie lyrics make much sence anyway :)..... No offence intended, I love this band

  • while i'm playing monterey. considering it is a place he would have potentially played.

  • monterrey it is

  • lol,I'm pretty sure it's not Monterey.

  • Yes I do! But far more rock imo. But that Burke/Geddy sound is there.. still, they are recognizable on their own very, very easily. Burke rocks far more.

  • Budgie, fantastic band and a big influence musicians to come later.

  • Just look at their faces, there is such great passion. You don't see that in bands nowadays. These guys are the BEST. Great son, great band. Love it!

  • mix shit! shame, cos this is great track

  • Where he have a tooth?

  • very similar

    i thought that too

  • This music brings nice memories, why dont we have this kind of "rock-metal" anymore?

  • definitively a great band.

  • Fuck you man this song is awesome, plus Budgie came before Rush so Burke is not ripping off Geddy Lee

  • One of the WORST songs ever by a band who did some really good stuff early on. Hey, is that a very drunk Geddy lee on bass and vocals, AWOL from Rush? Of course not.... then again....

  • idiot

  • you are an idiot

  • the guitar isn't coming off very good... that's why it sounds tame. There should be more stuff from their first '71 album on here.. that shit will melt your ears!!
