  • O.o I never want to fly again!

  • LIKE A BOSS

  • called a Cross wind airplain noobs

  • This Pilot, although " brazenly attempted the landing "..

Did a great job of piloting and never once made .,

an incorrect response to the condition's of the approach

So , Hooray to the pilot, and all those , helpless ,

passengers..who walked away from that, and now , who have the greatest story to tell people !

    :)

  • The Pilot was she a women :)

  • There's something on the wing, some..thing..

  • It cannot be explained,

    their is..some thing..... there..

    some thing ...

    Fascinating..........

  • What was he, doing

  • I was on tht plane!

  • Oh I know the feeling only too well......been on a couple of landings like this...makes you never want to fly again. but we do...!!

  • Also the plane came in MUCH too fast. If the plane would be little a bit slower, nothing would be happened.

  • What the hell is Ucabituca? Google has never heard of it, so it must be bullshit.

  • Wow

  • he was actually sick ass pilot cause he didn't crash

  • FACT: No crosswinds were recorded that day. The pilot was simply practicing his drifing skills.

  • You know when landing, somewhere in the pilot's mind there's got to be a nagging doubt of...."am I actually going to pull this off this time." We've only been flying for around a hundred years, so I presume our ancient instincts don't mesh so well with the idea.

  • God I hate flying....

  • Thank god. If that gust of wind was a little stronger and the plane rolled a little more to the left the wing would've hit the ground and the outcome would've been disastrous.

  • That is not a crosswind nor is it wind shear. Its a phenomenon called Ucabituca.

  • @ThrogsNck what is a ucabituca?

  • looks like the germans can drift planes

  • This pilot is smart!

  • I don't think I would have even attempted to land during this wind shear. Take-Off-Go-Around Power

  • All 137 passengers shat their pants...

  • @DaveMTL82 No boss , the was plenty of time for the pilot to make decision in this instance and abort landing usually commneced above 500 fts AGL so , he screwed up big time by not Going Around during approach. is he still in the Job ?

  • @mesheditor spot on this pilot made the wrong decision end of lol

  • Bet they had some serious cleaning to do in the cabin after that

  • Thumbs if you dislike the stupid Very Strange Planes vid on the right

  • Ich mochte den Video

  • You cruise along on autopilot getting sucked off by an air hostess and then all of a sudden you're hurtling through the air sideways in a massive metal box powered by screaming jet engines containing hundreds of people that depend on you to survive and you have to make a split decision or they all die and AAARRRGGH boom you fully commit to the abort and you're back in the air. Phew...... it takes EXTRA big balls to be a good pilot

  • @fookfocketyfookfook The pilot had not balls at all. It was a woman :-)

  • don't drink and glide!!

  • Control tower: Lufthansa flight 1356 cleared to land.

    Pilot: Cleared to land, rogger.

Control tower: Oh, by the way, you're wife is waiting at terminal 1.

    Pilot: My wife?!? DAMNIT! *aborts*

  • @ienes2

    Pilot was a woman, honestly.

  • dammmmm hes a goood pilot!!!!

  • We had almost the same thing when we were landing at Amsterdam airport. The winds were so strong that the airplane was shaking heavily. Everyone was scared as hell, it's really tough to experience it. Fortunately we landed safely.

  • I wonder how loud the screaming was on that plane?

  • You people are stupid! Pilot was fighting wind shear. The plane was not all crossed up because of the pilot's ineptitude. He did an excellent job and made the correct decision to ABORT the landing. Otherwise he would have crashed the plane in the trees and killed everyone on board. STFU morons!

  • @diambo4life not a wind shear

  • @diambo4life he should of ABORTED the landing alot sooner though so 95% of pilots say he made an error in even attemptin it you fuckin penis so dont go on as if you no something about flying a plane

  • @diambo4life he had it until he kicked out the crab & let the right wing come up

  • pilot drunk?

  • Ok kids, this is what happens when a blond female becomes a pilot.

  • Of course a german

  • I think that's a sideslip crosswind landing technique. The captain declared to go around and he did the right thing. safety first...

  • Guys thats a very standerd procedure the wind is blowing perpendiclar to the runway so to maintain a striaghtflight path you turn into the wind. Its a crosswind landing

  • Failed crosswinds landing...

  • And people spend money in Six Flags? This is so much better!! Lol!!

  • Iv heard Germans can't fly but wow that pilot sucks

  • Wow. Kudos to the pilots for saving it. I bet there wasn't a dry eye (or underwear) on that plane when it finally did land. Fruit of the Loom made a fortune that evening.

  • the pilot did a great job!!! This plane could have crashed

  • I would have had a heart attack if i was on that plane

  • what a piliot capton

  • Imagine if your were in the planes restroom.....O.o

  • i think you are just a tad off course

  • Fuck being on that plane

  • "sheer"

  • a good captain is never put your passengers and aircraft in this situation.

  • Pictures of the planes left wing. bit . ly / jd89vb

  • This reminds me of how much I stuff up on flight simulator.

  • "Ladies and Gentlemen, we're going around, for obvious reasons. Stewardesses will be handing out clean underwear once we land..."

  • What a great pilot "give that pilot a raise for saving that plane !

  • FFFFUCCCCCKKKKKKK

  • thumps up on this if u love planes<3

  • "Ladies and gentlemen welcome to your new destinati- please enjoy your flight"

  • @LethalSystem asahhd this made me laugh :D

  • Thank god for good pilots.

  • ˙ʇıɥs ʎloɥ ʇıɥs ʎloɥ ʇıɥs ʎloɥ

  • i would of crapped myself

  • Man I would have been wetting myself!

  • There was such a strong crosswind. This was obvisously a unexperianced pilot because most pilots would of went around and either tried to come in at a better angle or stayed in the air untill it calmed down. i think he has the angle for the crosswind fine but he came in a little to fast.

  • Pilot got lucky. He should not of attempted it in the first place !

  • Damn woman.

  • @poohnwinie woman pilot for sure lol jk...

  • @thecuzao it was a woman. but shut up, she did great

  • Plane drift !!!!! XD

  • cross winds... good pilots

  • I could just see the plane powersliding along the runway!

  • That must be hard as takin a shit upside down. LOL

  • 137 separate skid marks found on the aircrafts seats afterwards...

  • That how we get first choice of twin eng aircraft.

Go on the fkg windiest crosswind day.

It's just like that landing with full rudder on one wheel, then flaps off instantly.

Lucky this guy kept his cool factor.

  • Pilot --> Brace for cross wind landing....

Passengers --> Oh shit....God save us

Pilot --> Forget it.....I ain't trained enough to land in such conditions....TAKE OFF !!!

  • he should have aborted the landing right away at 0:28

  • @Confession95 you`re wrong... this kind of cross-winds are very usual... the unusual was the strong wind at the end of the landing...

  • Amazing footage, but the passengers were never really in any danger. Pilots are trained to land in these conditions, they 'crab' the aircraft which is why they approach at an angle. The first officer would not have been flying in those conditions..the captain is trained up to the limits of the aircraft. Just before landing pilots turn the wing into the wind as there's more lift on that side, but being blown so far off the centre line & past the touchdown zone meant a go around was inevitable

  • @andyross37 the wing hit the runway, which should NOT happen ;), you can see footage about that online

just google for a320 lufthansa hamburg incident

  • Scaaaarrrrrryyyy. I dont mind flying normally but I think I would have shit myself in that situation.

  • the passengers should all give the pilot a standing ovation when they land. they owe it to him and the co-pilot

  • @TheMr86stuff When you consider how many accidents had german pilots from 1950-s onward with Lufthansa or any other german airliner, you can pretty much say that they are one of the world's safest pilots and companies. And this is just example that they are skillful.

  • the thing he/she did wrong was letting the wing up when turning back to line up w/ the center line. they should have used less aileron and more rudder to bring it back straight cause then the wind got under the wing and almost flipped it over

  • I bet the people inside were scared out of their minds.

  • Should have gone powersliding! XD

  • the pilot who flew the aircraft was the female co-pilot and she did a great job!

  • some people on here are retarded do you actually think a trained pilot would land like this unless he deemed it absolutely necessary you gulable monkeys, and if you knew anything about flying you would see he did a fabulous job and did you all also notice the comment all passengers arrived safely.

  • thats what i call a drift ^^

  • gr8 timing by ze pilot...most scaring landing i ever seen!

  • Mein Luftkissenfahrzoig ist volle Aalle :D

  • I love flying Lufthansa

  • That's a really failed cross-wind landing... Could have gone worse though.

  • unbelievable thank God he kept those people alive until he crashed at the next approach!

  • Ik had een hartaanval op het internaat!

  • you must hold the hand on the sidestick after a cross wind landing

  • Thanks gawd no one so far posted that 'In soviet russia it happens the other way' it wouldn't even make any sence here.

  • pilot just realised he left his mobile at the airport.

  • That pilot just drifted with a plane!

  • that's why there should be no chicks in the cockpit!

  • If I was on that plane, I would of literally shit my 22 year-old nappies.

  • my god...i've never seen crosswinds that bad. Have to admit the pilot actually did pretty good controlling the plane.

I would have had my head between my legs and kissing my ass goodbye!!

  • That's normal weather in Hamburg.

  • it loosk like the pilot cudve been wasted

  • 0:41 I can imagine every people on the plane is screaming like fuck

  • Actually, the pilot did a great job... He was in the right angle, even if it look strange, but the wind was such that he was not able to tip the plane straight at 0:40 or 0:42... So he push the reactor back and get it the air.

  • @therrydicule actually it was a she ;)

  • @nickoooooooooooooo O.k, maybe, but I did not know that... At least I did not use "it" to refer to her ;)

  • @therrydicule lol ;)

  • @therrydicule I agree- I think I'da panicked if I came in like that, he did good getting it back off the ground in order

  • @therrydicule actually the pilot was an idiot. in hamburg there are two runways. this day almost all planes took the other runway where the wind was coming from the front and not from the side as here. however, this pilot insisted on landing on this runway although the ATC informed him of the better conditions on the other strip (because there was an ILS and he was obviously not willing to do a visual approach for whatever reason), he took an unnecessary higher risk.

  • @vsbfbmusic Look, I don't have access to the conversation or to the technical data (and, even if I did had access, I don't want to check that...), but normally the controller decide where to send the place and the co-pilot communicate where to go... Now, there is some exception for different reasons, and sometime a stupid decision is made... If it is the case, than at least someone had done a great job at saving the asses onboard, even if it follow a major errors.

  • @therrydicule for that point I agree, in the end the decision for going around was very right & carried out correctly. however, if the pilot in control (it was the first officer) had chosen the other runway at first attempt, he would have never gotten in this "uncomfortable" situation. I read a lot about LH 044, the airbus systems also played a (minor) role in this incident as the computer switched to ground mode too early, however the main fault (seen from today) was choosing this runway.

  • @therrydicule and, to be added: after going around the plane landed safely.... on the other runway.

  • @therrydicule I also read that in strong winds sometimes the pilots purposely fly in at an angle because if they were to go in straight they'd get blown off course?

  • @therrydicule if i remember well it was a woman flying this plane, no joke

  • @therrydicule and the problem was, when the plane touched the ground the airbus went into a ground mode where the pilot wasent able to controll the plane as he wanted. i am no expert, its hard to explain. if i remember well airbus fixed this problem after this issue

  • @CARPital That's call "ground effect" and it cannot be fixed at 100% and it's present in every aircraft ;) In fact, it is so strong that some vehicle are made to work only in these condition (example: The Caspian sea monster) and gain an economic advantage for some type of operation... However, for airplane, that's painful, but it could be greatly reduced by the shape of the wing and the side effect by better suspension and stuff (this is so out of my area of expertise, tough).

  • @therrydicule nono thats not what i mean. the airplane really went into a ground mode where the pilot cannot fully controll the flaps and slats.

  • I can land that plane any day....just need to keep restarting first.

  • That bus has rather large wings.

  • Stop sexting while driving!

  • omg, this is the scariest crosswind landing so far......wow.

  • this is kinda funny...the plane cant even land...lmao

  • my friends uncle whas on board there he whas just so scard that day

  • pilot was probably texting...

  • wow...that looks very risky. I would not have tried it in that conditions. But the Pilot tried to land till the last second and made the right choice to go on full throttle. I guess it was a very experienced Pilot like Cpt. Sullenberger :)... thank god he made that choice... who knows how many innocent ppl and children where on board

  • good pilot:)

  • I bet those passengers crapped their pants

  • ---CONCORDE'S SUCCESSOR---

    The Future is Fast...

    See channel for info..

  • WRONG CHOICE !!!

  • stupid pilot. risking people's lives while you got other choices is not courageous.

  • @gusblacksmyth lets see you do better cuntface

  • wow!

  • the pilot has got nerves.real courageous of him.

  • Holy shit! Isn't he using the same maneouver the famous "Gimly Glider" used? Where he's coming in too fast so he flies the plane "sideways" to help slow it down?

Because if so, then this pilot deserves a medal! That's a maneouver intended for gliders - not freakin' huge ass passenger planes.

  • @gb9514 its called crosswind, at least 35kts and yeah that maneuver its to slow down (the one regarding your ginly glider quote), but the position of the airplane is to avoid the wind to push the airplane off the centerline and you always have to land into the wind, this was a pretty heavy crosswind to make the wing even collide with the runway and almost send the airplane out of the runway... a go- around pretty late but effective i could say.

  • @speedierfiber i see. I always wondered what a "crosswind" landing is.

    Thanks for the explanation.

  • @computrain5 No request to abort that landing, pilots too busy attempting to land that plane. Aborting a landing at the last minute is the pilot's decision and his alone and in this particular case there was no request to abort, he just did it ( thank God for that ).

  • Nice recovery from the pilots, that was definately a close call !

  • That is one amazing pilot!

  • Afffffff

  • it looks fake but am not sure

  • After Captain Sully I want these pilots. Talk about a save!

  • Apparantly my other comment didn't post but I was on a plane that was going to land at San Jose International Airport right when the co-pilot was going to set the plane down, a gust of wind tilted the plane to the right bringing the right wing dangerously close to the tarmac. We all thought the landing was gong to be aborted when we heard the engines start to throttle up but at the last minute the pilot slammed the plane down on the runway. Surprised the air mask didn't deploy.

  • I guess the Japanese will turn this into their national sport. Airplane Drifting.

  • they should build a wind shield or something...

  • @Bille994 so that if a plane over-shoots the run way - or needs to abort a landing at the last minute - it will crash right into the "wind shield"?

And a project like that would be too complicated anyways.

Although it seems like a cool idea in our imagination.

    :P

  • Thats actually an airplane man.. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!

  • Hoooollllyyyyyy shit!!!

  • that would hav suked if u had a fear of flying and right when u think its all over u crash due to some stupid wind (now there a tromatized 4 life) lol

  • good pilot...prevented catastrophy

  • Bravo, pilot. But dont forget that youre not on a car, so if the plane goes sideways, it doesnt mean you pulled the handbrake and youre dong a powerslide. It means shit's goin down.

  • Women pilots for ya!

  • @RiiDDiiM not really, it wasnt the pilots fault that the wind almost killed them all.

  • Es el mejor video en lo que se refiere a habilidad de pilotos de aeroplanos con gusto viajaría en esta líne aerea.

  • Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen if you look out of the left windows you'll be able to see the floor.

  • Was this Germany or Al Qaeda?

  • i think my friend was on this plane he was doing an exchange trip

  • fuckin hell!

  • Shit amgine looking out the window seeing the wing scrappig the fucking runway. Damn

  • do you can see the storm??? i think when france or usa fly this plane it will be not better

  • "Ladies & Gentlemen does anyone now how to fucking fly this thing"

  • on a less windy day it will work

  • Crazy attempt a landing. Pilot probably played rocks paper scissors with the co-pilot after hearing the wind report. These guys fly 6 miles above the ground but when they get close they can shit their pants just like the rest of us.

  • surely with the data available from their instruments and from atc, the fucking idiot pilot should not have aattempted it in the first place, or at the very least aborted it earlier

  • i would've been so scared if i was on that plane
