  • oh yah.

  • God DAMN! I wish this song was longer, it's so epic, dramatic and amazing that it needs an extended version!

  • Awesome movie. its a real movie not today's bullshit.

  • Με το που ακούς τη μουσική, όταν αρχίζει το Φάργκο, καταλαβαίνεις ότι θα γαμηθεί ο Δίας!

  • I wish this was on iTunes

  • @MrWhod me too

  • Yah?

  • oh yah?

  • Aw jeez!

  • It's really a shame that It has to be so damn short.

  • The first time i watched this movie i was like : what the hell is this and how come the movie actually won an oscar?...i just did not understand it......BUT.....after watching several Coen Brother movies i understood their kind of filmmaking...and then i watched this movie again and WOW !...i really enjoyed it ! This is a type of film which gets better every time you watch it.

  • You Fucking little Weasel

  • Riktigt bra, på gränsen till gåshud.

  • It's amazing, most of the time I think of great soundtracks, Carter Burwell is at the helm of them.

  • Is it me or does this sound similar to Lawrence of Arabia?

  • This makes me weep!

  • in the all seriousness of this movie, there is some very bold humor Asian Canadian guy....WIN

  • @puremysteryman He's not Canadian he's American

  • i always loved this song, dontcha know

  • There's more to life than a little money, you know. Don'tcha know that? And here ya are, and it's a beautiful day. Well. I just don't understand it.

  • it's a pretty haunting score

  • Is it just me or is this song kinda depressing?

  • @kimpeater1 Kinda the point.

  • This is originally a Norwegian folk song called "Den bortkomne sauen" (the lost sheep).

  • @KapteinOpel That's very interesting! Carter Burwell has been known to "reference" or just plain use other songs in his scores! Khachaturian's Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia in The Hudsucker Proxy and Prokofiev's Kije's Wedding for Doc Hollywood...Just to name two! Some may say he's ripping them off, but I happen to love what he does with them! He's opened me up to some new classical music! And well, in some instances I think he does it better! ;)

  • @safariben1 when a loser uses someone else's music, it's a rip off. When a genius does it, it's a tribute.

  • This is the perfect movie to show to an elderly group of church ladies. lol

  • Shivers

  • The movie was a masterpiece as well as the music

  • a female sherlock holmes'film. perfect score.

  • Definitely one of the best films ever made, Macy's best role ever. A true classic.

  • "Blood has been shed, Jerry."

"What the heck do ya mean?"

  • 8 people got true coat on there car

  • Great music!

  • @puukkaproductions You betcha, yah!

  • This was the perfect music score for Fargo. It evokes the open, snowy, desolate place where the violence happened. It evokes the pure white snow, and the blood spilled on it. So haunting. So beautiful.

  • This might be a bit of a stretch, but I've always thought this song is similar to Ravel's Bolero. It begins with a simple note arrangement, repeating it and building on it with each step.

  • Beautiful song to show the horrible human nature

  • No deubt, outstanding soundtrack. Also masterpiece film.

  • This song is so haunting!

  • "I liked you, Marge." "Well I always liked you." "I always liked you so much! You are such a super lady!"

  • this song builds up so much. Damn, It's good.

  • hahhahhahahahaha wher i live.....the middle of nowhere

  • I love the Swedish folk tones this song have.

  • @Mythification Actually it's a Norwegian folk song, not Swedish.

  • @Jemimia Same-o same-o :)

  • @Mythification Not really.

  • @Jemimia Be the bore then.

  • @Mythification How about you stop being ignorant of other people's cultures and labeling them for something they're not, and then insulting them when your confronted with your mistake.

  • @Jemimia Get over yourself already. If you can't hear similarities between swedish/norwegian folk music then fine, be that way.

  • @Mythification Sorry to be pedantic, but the folk tones are Norwegian, due to the use of the Hardranger (aka Devil's) violin. The strings are set so that all 4 can be played at once, instead of the two on a standard violin.

  • @ridjam Hahaha it's ok to be pedantic at times :)

Although I have read an interesting article about the debate if the Hardranger is an actual Norwegian instrument that was mainly derived from the medieval times. The Norwegian Olav Sæta don't think so and have written and very interesting article about it. However I don't know if it's translated to english :/

  • The music adds so much to the film.

  • Beautiful score and a beautiful film. Period.

  • The whole story about a man hiring men to kidnap his wife to obtain ransom money from his rich father-in-law which spirals down to a tragic disaster is just pure brilliance on the Coen Brothers part.

  • The heck do ya mean?

    THEHECKUMEEN!!!

  • I reckon seven folks didn't get a brand-new, burnt-umber Ciera.

  • @Waffenbaum Sorry, but I'm Pretty sure it's a Ford Sierra

  • @AgentMcgeek No, it's not.

  • @BloodyVillain If you look up "Ford Sierra" on Wikipedia it'll show you that there was a car called a Ford Sierra, and that It looks like the one seen in the film. I would love to see the evidence that it was another car.

  • @AgentMcgeek I know that there was (and still is)) a car called Ford Sierra. And indeed, it looks similar to the one shown in the film. But there is also Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera and plenty of it's photos on google. I'd like to post one here but it's sadly impossible. I'm sure you can find it by yourself ;] I'm not some kind of car expert, but I'm pretty sure that it's Ciera.

  • @BloodyVillain I've checked it out, and it appears you are right, so well done!

  • @Waffenbaum Oh yah?

  • @scraps992 Yah, you betcha !

  • i fuckin' love shep

  • ..."and it's a beautiful day!"...

  • very sad and lonely movie..i love watching it again and again alone..

  • This movie done my head in with the "yah" every 2 seconds but I watched it all. Money is a motherfucker.

  • This movie is the battle of goodness and evil

  • @mgf001

And why did good have to win!

  • This song is so awesome and sad

P.S It was a great movie

  • I'm cooperatin' here!!!

  • @diswazyoozed there's no need to get snappy with me, I'm only doing my job here.

  • 'Shep said Eight-Thirty. Uh, it was a mix-up, I guess.'

    'Alright, sit down.'

    (and it begins...)

  • i think accent's kinda kool

  • @lildancechick015

Yeah you guys are in the middle of nowhere, you just dont see it.

  • @lildancechick015 movie's making fun of people who THINK we talk like that

  • @lildancechick015 Yeah? And we English don't all speak the Queen's English and drive black cabs over Tower Bridge every day eating fish and chips whilst listening to recordings of Shakespeare, Wordsworth and The Beatles. Deal with it.

  • @lildancechick015 So does that mean you found the suitcase full of money?

  • @lildancechick015

    LIAR!!!!

  • @lildancechick015 I just moved to Minnesota from another state.

A & B) To people who speak without an accent, you do.

    C) A lot of people would consider Minneapolis to be the middle of nowhere. Where does that leave Fargo? Located within the approximate vicinity of practically nowhere?

  • @lildancechick015

    A.) I live in Wahpeton

B.) NO one sounds like this

    C.) you are so right

D.) we are rich not like the other states

  • @lildancechick015 Go suck somewhere else then.

  • @ClanHalo001 Wedding, funeral, bat mitzvahm, 21st birthday party! Comes out of the earth.

  • geez !! its a nice sound track..yeah..kinda bright sunny day reminds me...yeah u got that right..

  • I want this song playing on the most important event of my life, so when I play the song, it will have a meaning and will bring those memories back.

  • why is it always so bright and sunny and warm there

  • this music reminds me of death and war

  • best movie & best theme. What more can i ask for?! <3 itt.

  • Quit worrying about heritage and enjoy the song.

  • It's mostly Norwegians here in Minnesota that form our stereotypes, not Swedes, though I'm sure there's plenty of Swedes too. Our Norwegian heritage comes with the blonde hair, the accent (somewhat, though exaggerated in the film), our lutefisk, our lefsa, etc.

  • so deep + 10

  • My grandmother has a Swedish heritage, and I have relatives in MN, so hearing the way the people talked made me enjoy this movie even more. This song fits so perfectly, especially at the end. :)

  • Heh...you should see the other guy...

and you can tell your friend Shep Proudfoot I'm gonna mess him up when I see him too, ya F'in mute!

  • it's a great movie....great great great

  • Makes me think of my country.

  • @KimInChains We have lots of Swedes here. :-P

  • @biry0501 Oh jaaa? :)

  • @KimInChains Ja, you betcha.

  • @ncjunior23 "...all for a little bit of money"

  • That is a great piece of music, added to an awesome, no epic Movie!

  • impresionante

  • "I just don't understand it."

  • Lol best scene is the wood chipper...

  • @merobots boy you can say that again

  • 5 deaf people have watched this video.

  • this is music you listen to when your beyond fucked

  • @colinMN1860 I must be insane in this case

  • @colinMN1860 yes!

  • @colinMN1860

  • This track was used amazingly in The Shock Doctrine

  • Tried to finf this in the iTunes Store with zero results. Unhappy!!!!

  • @grannyfairy2007 use a youtube converter

  • I'm a filmmaker, and I can tell u one thing. There is no good movie without brilliant soundtrack(music).Music wakes feelings inside humans body wicth make people wanna look the movie and compare with their own life and emotions. When I hear some good instrumental,I got an idea to write a story.Music make my story. This one here is brilliant!

  • This soundtrack is fantastic. You listen to it and you just feel like you're alone in that bleak winter landscape with nothing for miles except blowing snow and freezing cold.

  • YEAH!

  • this song does feel like North Dakota!

  • Sort of like Greensleeves huh?

  • @BoundaryShift no not really

  • Wow , I think wouldn't have love that movie that much without that introducing song

  • One of the biggest and most underrated movies ever. Right after the first scene I knew it was good :-)

    K.C.

  • @killercroc89 ... 7 Oscar Noms... 2 Wins.... Underrated?!

  • @hermit73

Sorry, I wanted to say underrated here in Germany. People here don't really care for movies like The Big Lebowski, Fargo or No Country For Old Men. If you ask Germans about Fargo only few even know the name. That's what I wanted to say.

    K.C.

  • @hermit73

    Yes,only two wins!

  • I love how it sounds so soft in the beginning but by 2 mins it reaches a beautiful crescendo!

  • 3 people missed the like button.

  • I saw this movie months ago, and I liked it, i thought it was original, it's also funny (in a sort of twisted way) how everything went wrong in Jerry's kidnapping scheme and got even worse.

  • i actually think this is my all time favorite theme song.

i love grindhouse, the godfather, vertigo, and the pulp fiction one and all

but there's just something about this one...

oh yeah, btw this movie is amazing

  • God, i was with this music in my head, trying to remenber from where. Then Fargo came to my head, o.o awesome music

  • i just start to feel cold listening to this..

  • What is the instrument at the begining of this, is it a guitar?

  • @DaveHealey1 A classical guitar most likely.

  • @Pignoah Harp?

  • @DaveHealey1 It's a harp :)

  • simply put one of the best films I have ever seen...

  • OH YEA!

  • Anyone have the sheet music?

  • this perfectly sums up the plot: a simple tune that just keeps feeling more and more epic

  • "Mr. Lundegarrd...there's no need to get snippy with me ya know...."

  • Neptunesbounty,

It is some type of violin with sympathetic strings. They are strings that don't get struck with the bow, but they are tuned and vibrate in the resonator to create that droning sound. It's sort of like the drone of a bagpipes.

  • what instrument is playing the main melody here?

  • @neptunesbounty its called a hardranger (or devils fiddle) which is a scandinavian instrument mainly used in folk music

  • @yozfavs thanks friend. amazing sound.

  • @neptunesbounty:

As stated earlier, it's a hardanger fiddle ('haring fele' in norwegian), the national instrument of Norway. It is related to the violin in its modern form, but is surprisingly of a different origin originally.

Interestingly, the theme played here is also an old Norwegian folk melody called "Den bortkomne sauen" (the lost sheep). It i think it reflects well the Scandinavian origins of the people of North Dakota and Minnesota.

  • @ncjunior23 ''And for what? For a little bit of money. There's more to life than a little money, you know. Don'tcha know that?''

  • This is very nice...
