Dan uses a meinl cajon with a switch which allows him to decide if he want's snare or not.

Mine is a custom built cajon, Savage Percussion, snare is only in the top corners rather than down the face, and larger size for deeper bass.

  • Seriously please tell that guy on the left from one Christian cajon player to another...... STOP KILLING YOUR BACK!!!

in all honesty there is absolutely zero reason why he should be playing cajon like this... there is neither any benefit to tonal or technical ability of the instrument, in fact it's much more detrimental to both player and instrument.

As a matter of health and safety please get this guy to stop this before he blows out Discs L4 & L5 in his back and can't play anything..... bele

  • @jonnyweston This was posted nearly three years ago, I think he's probably guessed it by now :)

  • i love the words in church music but can't stand that style of church music, makes me want throw up every time i listen to it!

  • I can see why the guy on the left is bending over, he's using the soundhole area to get a variety of different tones from the rear face of the cajon so that he sounds different to the other cajon. I'm guessing he's prepared to have a sore back for a while to do this. More power to your elbow peeps.

  • thanxs for this vid i got a idea for the cajon at my church and the ppl bend to low

  • those guys are bending too much

    nice though

  • Check out Valter Percussion on the web. Valter makes an ergo cajon that in my opinion is one of the best on the market. Witebox/blackbox. The audio on his website is pretty good. The cajon is designed different and has a built in mic system. Sounds great but is expensive. I guess you get what you pay for.

  • the posture

  • Yeah I would think posture needs to be fixed and i noticed the guy on the lefts mic might sound better if you put it by the whole...

    but still good job

  • You are going to get a really soar back by playing the cajon like that. You should play the cajon straight up not bent like that. That technique that you are using is not right and you are only going to hurt yourself by playing it like that.

  • Cool!

I'm gonna try using this new Cajon in Church this Sunday.

Pray for me! I serve God in Singapore.

  • God Bless You!

  • For the guys on the cajons, please if you wanna live to see your "twenties" and still keep your back healthy, for the love of God correct your posture, that position will kill you in no time, whoever taught you forgot to tell you this important bit, also you don't have to reach so far down for the bass tones, sit upright like if you were in a fine restaurant. Overall the song sounds pretty good, keep up the good work

  • Was my first thought, too. You only need the top third of the cajon for you hands. Especially the (viewer-)left guys position looks painfull.

  • well done!!!

  • Excellent!

I just bought a cajon last week and used it in church for the first time on Sunday.

  • good job guys! sounds great.
