  • its all about lightnin hopkins!!! any and everybody else can suck my hairy, sweaty nuts.

  • He certainly had some rhythm.

  • Tryin' to learn 5 languages this year. Better get me a mojo hand.

  • Does anybody know if these are just separate song videos or is there a dvd with the entire show on it somewhere?

  • @bohandd it\s called "american folk blues festival" - it doesn't have the whole show (I think that's willie doss doing the intro and he's not in it, neither is fred mcdowell) still pretty decent - I think the whole thing is on youtube

  • @busessuck1 Thanks for the info =)

  • τοσο απλος ...?

  • may be the coolest man ever.........

  • what's this footage taken from?

  • @buddner the american folk and blues festival - around 1962/63...it toured europe and was very succesful for a few years, then camne back for a stint in the late sixties then again in the seventies. In the early ones, folks like the young rolling stones went to see them. you can get them on dvd, really very worth it!

  • So basically the gyst of the song is that Mr Hopkins is going to go get a pickled monkey's paw that will give him sexual powers that will get his wife to quit acting out of line. 100% win

  • Everyone...!!!

Can someone please tell me what kind of guitar Lightnin is playing??

  • Blues, the way it outta be.............

  • whats a mojo hand?

  • @therunningtap It's a magical charm bag used in voodoo, sometimes called a mojo hand; Mojo, a slang word for self-confidence, self-esteem or sex ......hope that helps......Be well, Surfer Joe

  • WILLIE DIXON IS PLAYING BASS

  • 12 bars is just a guideline.

  • these blues mens women were ALWAYS cheating on them hahahahahahalolo

  • As a very green student of the blues, I find this breathtakingly epic.

  • This dude is cool as shit....love it

  • @jasoncudbill usually operating on one whole or more bottles of Gin....still pulls it off

  • @SmileyGarrish

Aint hard too see at the video.

Just found Lightnin Hopkins, but yes consider me a fan

  • It just doesn't get much better than this.

  • At that time, black men made blues, now they make hiphop shit =/

  • Willie Dixon on bass

  • willie dixon on bass...

  • ブルース♪の帝王ライトニン,痺れます。upされた方に感謝♪

  • i heard this when i was 12 my dad & older bro, told me ab em. hes always been my fav, lighting all the way.

  • Bass Player is Willie Dixon

  • 1 dislike.. you stand alone, fool

  • if that aint a bass player at 1:36, we shit i just dont know.

  • ' I wanna fix my woman so ... can't have no other man' L. Hopkins

  • GREAT! GREAT GREAT! Authentic to the very core!

  • How can he do that alone??? I hear Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, Hubert Sumlin, Willy Dixon (yes, there's no bass player accompanying him) and so many other blues and rock guitarists all at the same time! To say that Lightnin' Hopkins is UNDERRATED is an UNDERSTATEMENT.

  • @pinoyblues69 I stand erected (I mean corrected). Willie Dixon was accompanying him but only sparingly.

  • SIMPLY the BEST !!

  • one of the jazziest of the blues men

  • this is a cool old man, i love my people

  • just simply Great!!!

  • Classic. Beautiful. I haven't heard this for a month of sabbeths. Love it.

  • the top 100 rock guitatists no big suprise #1 was Chuck Berry all the other 99 were giving credit to Chuck and his NEW style at the end Chuck just lowered his head and his his NEW STYLE was STOLEN and the credit for his sucess had to go to Lightnin Hopkins cause thats where he got the licks that made him famous

  • can honestly call him my friend & I miss him, But there's a helluva party going on "somewhere"

  • taking it back for the black man.

  • This music makes me feel better.

  • My ears truly thank you sir!

  • great man...classic

  • That's because you don't know GOD, and have use for the Bible!

  • Words fail me, all that on one guitar - amazing! Clean, crisp, colossally wonderful - finally and forever, absolutely authentic.

  • who's the guy making the introduction?

  • @busessuck1

    that was john lee hooker

  • See, now that's the real deal right there, brutha! Ol' Lightin' was TOO COOL for words...

  • He tuned to HIMSELF, depending on his mood or voice at the time. Priceless. Only true artists and bands do that. He is immortal!! Thanks for the upload!!

  • elvis eat your shorts,, you aint shit,, play on Lightnin

  • No equal.

  • On the 3rd day he must've heard Lightnin ...

  • Is that Willie Dixonon BAss? I didnt know they had any stuff together

  • Bad motherfucker. Thats what he is.

  • Blues music totally transformed the folkloric music from my country in the '30s. who wants to see what i mean just check up Taraf de Haydouks - Ca la roata.

I bow to this monumental performance!

  • He was so characteristic/individualistic and stubborn/strong that he was the same Lightening whether he played acoustic or electric. He was one of the rare musicians who could transcend the instruments.

  • perfect voice for this

  • Damn this is good shit.

  • just great to see some footage of one of my all time Gi tar heroes

  • I bow down before your awesomeness, Mr. Hopkins. It doesn't get any better than this.

  • terribly out of sync!

  • Comment removed

  • @juliansballin

The video is out of sync, Greeneyed is right, it has nothing to do with Lightnin'!

  • Why can't it just be good blues without having to drag God and the rest of the universe into the whole situation, good grief man, grow up...

  • First time I ever seen this video, thanks for it! Love it!

  • 61.269... we 're just a few, but we are strong.....

  • Love his stuff...Thumbs up before I even watched it.

  • Lightnin, you the man!

  • louisanna

then some still newer girl cover it mojo warrior

    got some voodoo

    down there

    lightnin got mojo

    in his hand

  • go lightnin!!!!!!!

  • Why did I waste all of those years listening to the Stones, when Lightnin' had already processed gold like this

  • Who is playin bass. This is the only guy I have ever heard keep up with Lightnins' changes.

  • @briantcurran I know Lightnin and John Lee had such fucked up, rather unique timing

  • @GrisGrisOnUrDoorStep Lightini's timing IS wierd. Try singing this along with him - not too easy to catch his step.

  • @briantcurran I think it's Willie Dixon. He was in other stuff shot on that set.

  • @briantcurran willie dixon, must probably

  • @carlopstar yeah you can see the big man in the backround in some shots

  • @briantcurran I think it's Will Dixon. He was the only up bass player during there tour in Europe.

  • @pierrevanbentum There is no bass player. Although the sync is a bit out, you can see that Lightning is playing all the bass lines on the guitar.

  • @briantcurran He is playing the bass lines himself.

  • @briantcurran The one and only Willie Dixon

  • @briantcurran That looked like Willie Dixon in the shadows behind him!

  • @briantcurran

It might be Willie Dixon. I'm just judging by his giant silhouette.

  • all elvis moves came from here

  • the fantastic thing is that he ain't God, thank God! but a wonderful Master of Blues.

My hat off to you LH.

  • @notbendable damn straight son!

  • @notbendable says you--be wary to mock the one true living GOD! THE GOD OF ISRAEL WILL LAST LONGER THAN ANYONE PICKING BLUES FRIEND

  • @micmoable Oh no he won't.

  • @notbendable SAYS YOU! WATCH WHAT YOU SAY FRIEND, JUDGMENT COMETH SOMEDAY!

  • @micmoable Oh wow!! we are all so scared of your ridiculous prophecies, did your 'god' not say,

"Judge not lest ye be judged"?

You have judged others in your comments, ipso facto, you have gone against god, so you are in the same the boat as any atheist, see you in hell then!

  • @notbendable how anti-christ can you be?

  • @notbendable spoken like a true antichrist of satan

  • @notbendable If he was GOD he wouldn't be dead and lying in the grave

  • @micmoable Your comment just shows how spiteful and "unchristian" some theists can be, full of hate and glorifying in death and destruction which your so called religion preaches. I almost pity you.

  • @lesburst Pity yourself, but it won't help you none!

  • @notbendable GOD DOESN'T DIE THOUGH

  • @micmoable You are absolutely right!!

Because he never existed in the first place.

  • @notbendable fuck that, he is just as human as all of us, but he sure is awesome
