I think the question of substance lies with academics. If students excel in their academic education then it matters most. Remember this idiomatic expression ;"Not all that glitters is gold".

ronke or whatever her name is, is not very good at interviews, she fidgets way too much, she wags the microphone around, we can hardly hear her questions before she wags the microphone to the interviewees
Its funny how there arent any poor hungry and western model type skinny african children nrun across the scene. If this was cnn we would have seen them inside the class rooms as well. And then 1 banana woman running past.
even here in the uk british male teaachers sleep with students. A student offered sex to a teacher for exam questions and answers. He gave it to her and she gave it to him, in the end she failed the exam and was angry and so she exposed the man. LOL.
really men are men everywhere and in every color, pussy rules their minds and thats what happens to men like that. He lost his job tho but i dont know what happens in nigeria.
what you said is true. but they get a way with A LOT more things in Nigeria, thats why its so common over there. and often times the student's hands are tied (in Nigeria) but in other countries (western world) probably not so much.
as a former graduate of the university of lagos (1984) i can say that i had a great time on campus then, and brilliant teachers too.. and i was a moremite but not a moremite as in i wasnt into the suger daddy syndrome of the some of those girls ..
But in the world University rating and Africa in particular, one of the poorest and worst Universities, far behind. It is absolutely wrong to say it's one of the most popular in Africa.
The HBUCs [Historically Black Universities and Colleges in the USA] and Caribbean universities should connect with these African Universities in the future for cross-international studies for students who would like to do an apprenticeship program. The only problem I see in that is the difference in educational standards and curriculum. I think it's a good idea though.
WHY DO YOU ASSUME THAT WE HAVE LOWER STANDARDS THAN AMERICAN UNIVERSITIES? i dont like patronage especially coming from black americans who dont know anything about our institutions of lifestyles in west africa but make assumptions anyway..
Why don't you just relax! I never assumed anything-the standards are different even b/t American and European Universites. Try transferring from one country to another, especially another continet for college/university. That's a fact! And BTW I am a Nigerian!
been there done that so thats not the issue, the way you put down your statement was to suggest that nigerian universities somehow had lower standards a lot of my own professors used to work at various american universities as well as lecture at home and this was many yrs ago let alone now..
I'm done with you! You obviously have an issue with me and assumed i;m not Nigerian and that I put down other countries' educational standards.I'm not prolonging this discussion. Take it or leave it-last response.
... on a serious note, glad for the internet, this is good and Africans should be happy that those who are brainwashed about Africa can now see that there is more to Africa than what the global media throw at them. On Unilag, great school & had the highest number of applicants in the whole of Nigeria for several years, so that speaks volume about the popularity of the school.
I spent a year as a student of Unilag and my hall of residence was Moremi Hall, I was in D block, ground floor, sharing a room with at least 10 girls.
My school (columbia university)has list of colleges and universities where they do have exchange programs around the world, guess what only university of ibadan is recorgnized at columbia university people talk about lag pure rubbish,i left nigeria in my second year in ife. much better universities in nigeria than lag remember OAU,ABU,UNIVERSITY OF aBI AKOKITES U NA WON COMPARE U NA SCHOOL WITH COLUMBIA PEPPER HAMMMER U ALL anyway we are all nigerians lag is not even among the best 5 in nigeria
The Universities in South Africa are even respected more than UNILAG. Check worlds best 500 Universities and you will see somewhere on three hundred and something is a University in South Africa....
Unilag should stop claiming reputation that it does not have..
Are you dumb? How are you going to compare South African University thats has had help from its white colonial masters , with UniLag. South Africa and Nigeria two different things if not for the white people in South Africa im pretty sure it would be just as bad so just remove your argument. Yes theres nothing special about it but dont compare with South African Univeristies thats just dumb. End of Discussion meaning dont reply!
There is nothing so special about Unilag. and shut up your mouth there.talking about UNILAG being one of the most popular Universities in the world.(abi only in Nigeria).
1-Unilag is nowhere in the top 5000 (five thousand) Universities in the world.
2-Their admission system is nonsense.
3-Their professors researches arent recognised even in Africa.
4-Their certificates are respected only in Nigeria.
5-Bribery and corruption dont allow them give meritted admissions.
dedi55 or whateveryour name is, what has Congo offered Africa as a whole in terms of advancing the continent? Nigeria has done a whole lot in the continent and virtually,so many africans can attest to that so you better start talking about them too cux i know a whole lot of Congolese do..peace
and this guy/girl is damned right 'bout that. Talk of South Afrika or even your very own Kongo Kinshasha of pre Mobutu Sesesekou when your belgian master with the help of congolese betrayals eliminated the then prime minister (Patrice Lumumba)and things got worse, Nigeria was there. Talk of Angola, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Liberia, Sierra Leone etc. As a Congolese, you should really be crying 'bout what those bastards made of your huge country with probably the greatest potential in Afrika.
Nice. This an African perspective, most in the western world never get to see. No starving children, no forests and wild animals etc. Thanks for posting!

but in most nigerian universities, NOT ALL, but some the professors sleep with their women students or else they threaten to fail them in the class.
i read stories about that online.
professors asking their students to sleep with them. that is corruption! and there is nothing being done to stop it...
but aside from that, this is great to see good things happening in Nigeria.
