My mother was adopted in the Orphans court in Media. Delaware county. She was born "Joan Farley "at St.Vincent's Maternity hospital in Philadelphia on January 25,1946. We know it is most likely that her mother is dead... but we just want to know WHO SHE WAS!!! This search is driving me crazy! All we know is her birthday... MAY,1907
It took my daughter 17 yrs. to find me. I had been looking for her too. There has to be an easier way. Her adoptive mom & I had to sign for her to finally get her birth certificate. Great job!
Equal Access and No Falsified Birth Certificates! Adoptees have the same right to their own birth certificates as all other citizens. I am a first mother and only wish the child that I had taken (and I do mean taken) from me would have had her original birth certificate instead of us having to go through ten miles of red tape to obtain it AFTER we were reunited.
We will get bigger, louder, stronger and more forceful. We will keep fighting until all 44 sealed states release our OBC's. We will fight until EVERY adoptee has in their hand their TRUE Birth Certificate!!
i watched this video with sincere thot and fascination...anyone in their right or left mind, KNOWS that everyone has a legal right to their OBC.........ladies and gentlemen,,,,go! go! go!!!
that video is one of the most fascinating things i have seen. when i see and hear the word "hope" i think of someone who finally gets whatever everyone else takes for granted...their OBC..............AMEN!!!!
Kudos to all who attended this year's demonstration! This may be the "Adoptee Rights Protest" but the cause of open records should be the concern of all whose lives have been touched by adoption in any way. Every person deserves to have their original birth certificate, and every person who has ever been adopted should have a constitutionally-protect right to their own truth. That America still legalizes the falsification of birth records for those who were once adopted is egregious & wrong!
I am so honored to know everyone in this, as apart of this, and know that i'll be seeing you next year and what great powerful people are making an impact for the better of adoptees.
I'm a 45 yr old adoptee reunited w/ some birth family. My birth mother & 2 sisters were dead before I was able to find them. I searched for more than 10 yrs. I learned from her husband & sister that she wanted to be reunited. Adoptees should be covered by the Freedom of Info Act the same as everyone else. After all, we pay taxes, too!
I am a 49 year old adult adoptee. I reunited with my birthmother, Margaret Bruns in 1984. I reunited with my birthfather in 1989. Both are now deceased. Who needs to be protected?? The State of Illinois does not have the right to withhold my Original Birth Certificate.
We have 6 States with Open Access.....only 44 more to go!! With determination, education, perserverence, love and truth....we will get there!!
Great job and an important message. I was never promised confidentiality from my own child and want it known that I support adopted people's right to their original birth certificate.
Still riding the high from Philly! It felt so good to have people listen! Hopefully.. we will see a state or two restore the rights of adoptees in the coming year.. and will be even STRONGER in Kentucky!
This is an awesome video. I missed the demonstration in New Orleans, but went to Philly, now it is on to Louisville. We will be the squeaky wheel that gets the grease!! We will be heard and have our rights restored!!
Bout time..Keep up the good work, I was lucky and found mine....

my sister was denied when she searched for her birthmother. I'm just beginning my search.
There should be NO need for such an undertaking just to get a $12 document that anyone else can get by just asking!!!!

As a 25 year old reunited adoptee, I still can't access my Original Birth Certificate, even with my first (birth) parent's blessing.
I'm 25. I am legally an adult. I have met both my first parents. And the government STILL wont trust me with my own piece of paper.

After 35 freaking years, I finally have my OBC, but I will attend the protests until EVERYONE has theirs.

Original Birth Certificates for ALL adoptees! Why hold someone to a contract in which they had no say? Original Identity = The Truth.
