  • When do I add the cheese?

  • burn motha-sucka burn!

  • amazing. i sat thru the whole video twice just to watch fire in a cup. LOL

  • @NateN34 Never heard of a Recession?

  • @JFarmer2011 Ever heard of $12?

  • Hmmm, never heard of a heat gun?

  • @NateN34 Ever heard of human ingenuity?

  • lamo "hunny, the mac is done!!"

  • can i say heat gun???

  • jajaja asi arregle el GPU de mi tarjeta grafica que tenia corupcion de imagen.. saludos

  • @MrTraumata : En serio? Me estás jodiendo!!!

  • hot foil rework station?

  • There is nothing to lose by trying this. When the chip comes detached from the board, its done for. So you minds well try this.

Al though id recommend covering the rest of the laptop and motherboard with tin foil first.

  • what is the name of the song its good!!

  • @luisromerohdz youtube the lyrics you will find it I'm sure...

  • @luisromerohdz

"Fire" by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.

The guy's a living legend - check out Arthur Brown (musician) on Wikipedia - " two bystanders doused the flames by pouring beer on Brown’s head, preventing any serious injury."

  • ok i dont like this way

  • @adrs2 The chips packages are ceramic and offer a great deal of protection. Have you even seen a circuit board assembly plant? They bake the entire board to get the solder paste to flow. It's fine, it works, so what if it's a bit crude. It makes a cleaner joint than a soldering iron ever could.

  • @mshekleton

What's even funnier is that while this person complains and complains and calls the uploader stupid...

    The laptop works perfectly now.

    Who's stupid now?

  • that's stupid. Temperature to melt tin is bigger than to destroy most chips 85-135 celsius. Tin melts in 180celsius. When You solder with high power u put about 200celsius for less than 1 second on spare legs, then the temperature spread and chip don't get more than 50, so it's safe. It's so easy to resolder chips just some resin powder or fluid and you move the soldering tip straight trough all traces.

  • he's reflowing the solder joints, it's only a temp fix that works for 1-3months

  • what exactly does this suppose to fix?

  • lol use thermite

  • cool now you can cook in your laptop

  • @mohabiraq1

    We'll call it the iCook!

  • wtf. weird

  • This is voodoo style.

  • Don't do stupid things like this. You're going to ruin your motherboard/logic board. There's a lot of really bad advice on youtube - it's scary.

Read the Q & A at PrecisionDivision . com to learn more about why you shouldn't do things like this.

At least he's honest at the end of the video and says "Don't try this at home"

  • @geeksarenotcool You are right, he did this wrong. He sould've put tin-foil over all the other components ^^

  • @geeksarenotcool are you shure this wont work? i was thinkin on use this voodoo technik after 2 months without having my macbook pro repaired

  • So, did the trick work?

  • lol this is a better use for ibook

  • Just burn the whole thing ffs.

  • go figure another piece of shit mac.

  • lol cheap alternative to an already cheap hot air station

  • just buy a hot air station ...

  • putting heat extreme heat on a chip is a surfire way to damage it. I hope you have a few hundred bucks to buy another mother board.

  • @tangnatalaga it wont i did this with out any protective pan thingy i used a blow torch in my neighbors garage and they onley thing i half to say is i'v sent back my macbook pro to apple and im still using my ibook g4

  • It's the profanation of repairing art. This method will permanently damage the computer.

  • @vogelek23 .... You people are stupid. It's to re-flow the solder that's placed underneath the video chip. This is almost exactly what Apple did if you send in your iBook with a video problem.

  • this is sad .

  • hahahahahahaahhahaha very nice form to reapir a lap top :3

  • dude get a heat gun!!!!!!!

  • Its for people who don't want to waste money, and just get on with it

  • you are sucks !

  • no you are sucks!!

  • You cant type!

  • what was the problem?

  • @insectism this is used on the bad video probloem

  • whats the song?

  • fire - arthur brown....

  • sounds more like a ozzy osbourne thing?

  • sure..... or beatles...... u_U'

  • Fire - The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown

  • can this fix a ps3 YLOD

  • If you honestly try and reflow your solder connections this way, then you are really, really stupid.

Either use a professional BGA reflow machine, or use a heatgun.

  • i was being sarcastic i fixed my 40gb with a heatgun and it held up for 3 yrs.

  • for people who dont know what this is. it is basically the same exact thing as what happend to the first xbox 360's. solder gets soft then it it just soft enough to re connect.

  • yea i just gave it back to bestbuy and got a new one, same with replacement a couple months after...

  • so 2 broke?

  • actually the 3rd one is actually pretty messed up right now, it does the rrod thing periodically just waiting on it to permenantly rrod then calling up microsoft

  • what is that fixing

  • It is called the Soldeirng reflow technique, basically I guess you can say heating it up would reconnect the solder joints, etc. It really works.

  • how much alchohol did you use?

can i use this to remove an xbox cpu?

  • to remove see a youtube video called BGA rework with Hot Air ! ima try this on my gpu and nan chip! and it should work !

  • its odd because it makes alot of sense xD its almost as wierd as the virtual boy repair The virtual boy repair for the visual units require you to put the pieces in oven And it works o.o lol. Anywho I havn't had a problem with my ibook I think im lucky. I have a PC, Im a gamer so I need a PC lol. Macs are great for school or basic work :D amazing for video editing etc I only got a g3 ibook so yea i use it for school :)
  • holy-terorist:> mamaque

  • holy-terrorist:> ! is the pc portable nuked ?!?

  • its a mac

  • all these vids are about apple notebooks

  • i hate apples os windows is better

  • It was a hardware problem. :\

  • no i hate mac os x

  • Ah I see, so you were just making a random point. I gotcha.

  • uhh no

  • uhh yes

  • neverming i stll hate mac but i like windows better

  • so how long does this fix it for?

  • This worked for me! I did it with the computer running too. i had the lcd open and when the temp got hot enough, the solder re-melts and my screen magically came back to life. I couldn't friggin believe it.

  • how the hell is that going to fix it

  • This was a common problem with iBooks. The graphics chip had a faulty solder, so if you put a heat source (like a fire) on the chip, it would melt the solder, which would cause it to "reflow" into a working position.

Check the link in the video description.

  • did it work???

  • i got the same problem

    i got quoted 600$

    it sucks

    i still like mac though

  • holy crud! Thank god I didnt get an ibook....

  • 50/50 chance of it working. adding a shim worked for me...for a little while. I can't get it going again and I'll never buy apple hardware again after being quoted $1100 to get a replacement board.

  • What was the problem?

  • The classic dodgy logic/graphics board,

  • @sammyjohnson:

for me, it did work ^^

  • did it work... !?
