  • This is my absolute favorite church song ever.

  • Great!

  • The commercial in this place is obscene !!!!

  • i like this version. who performs it? please tell me.

  • A beutiful hymn, do not disrespect anothers way of coming to Christ, i am not a Catholic, but many Catholics are my Brothers and sisters,on that Great day when Jesus returns it will not be about being a Protestant, Catholic, or Baptist, but whether we have surrendered our lives to Jesus Christ, and done the will of the Father, let us all enjoy this beutiful hymn

  • Why do some feel compelled to bash the Catholic religion? Before you criticize and make judgments, go back and do some serious theological research about the roots of Christianity. Read the bible and pray for understanding and enlightenment. Then you can make an educated, non-biased statement about beliefs, practices, and rituals of not just the Catholic church, but every Christian church. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion....but seek wisdom and understanding in all things first.

  • anyway i like this song very much !

  • If u confuse pray and ask god the thruth.Sure jesus will answer u and show the thruth.don follow ur family or friends but follow jesus.Ask jesus to lead u and of course read the whole bible with some prayers. The lord is coming soon..so pls be prepared and do not falls in world temptations. No poin arguing n fighting among Christians but show the world and spread the gospels.May god bless all of u and lead u to the thruth.Praise the lord jesus Christ!

  • Every year the mass for saints and mary is more than jesus.Almost every month there will celebration for the feast day for saints and apostles..So pls ..saints have died but jesus is living god and still alive! I don wan condemn catholics or protetstant..but the thruth.SO ask and will be given,,seek and u will know.thas what jesus said.

  • For ur information if we ask family or friends to pray for us is different cause they are still alive..i got to know that people who are dead have no more things in this world and they won,t even know whats happening in world cause there are in another world.U can find in bible but I couldn,t remember what book ..so is not right to ask saints to pray for us cause they are not alive and only jesus raise frm dead and alive still .if u believe and u have to believe this!

  • Not the saints and mother mary.Of course we can respect them .But I can clearly see that most catholics give more importants to saints n mary.Even my famly instead always tell me pray to mother mary and ur problem will be solved. How many catholic especially who follow traditions will pray to jesus? In my case is very rare.

  • We are only temperory in this world but jesus have prepare a permanent place that is heaven for us yet there is hell too! The choice is yours wheter u chose the world or Jesus. If u chose jesus you are saved..no matter u are catholic or protestant. One more thing to catholics pls give more more and more importants to JESUS cause he is the one died for us and for our sins .

  • Hi guys, I have read most your comments and I remember the bible verse 1 Cor 1:10 “Divisions in the church” So Paul plead that there should not have divisions among u but must be united through Christ.I want say that I too a catholic almost for 30 years since I born till now but in this 2 years back I notice some thruths that something is missing in catholic churches..What I know Jesus the only way to heaven and many catholics still not believed that there is heaven and hell.

  • There are some really bad renditions of this song on YouTube. Fortunately, this one is not. Very well done. Stacked up against the others, it sounds even better.

  • Love this hymn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ten people don't have a best friend named Jesus, or don't appreciate what this song means.

This is one of my favorite hymns, and I have many.

    Great job!

  • Regardless of the denomination of Christianity you're a part of, you can't help but listen to this song.

  • love this song, thank you

  • @liltinycutie2 we will see Him again :DDDDDDD

  • awesome song and im a Catholic and happy The Holy Spirit is working in me!!

  • I'm a converted Protestant to catholic....I just love our saviour Jesus he saved me and my children I knw this to be true

  • @Ickypoo0904 why do you call yourself something other than a follower of jesus.?

  • @999Thip Catholics are Christians we do follow Jesus and the church he founded and the bible that that church put together and the teachings that the apostles taught by word of mouth untold in the bible as well as the apprentices of the apostles that some of which are talked about in the bible. If you believe otherwise then search for the apprentices(church fathers). I am sorry for many catholics are luke warm & God will spit them out but I am a bible believing catholic & I love you brother

  • @laffiteaumusic thanks for the offer, but ill rather serch the bible .

the dogma the the catholic church teaches does not set well with me..

its always something else, then jesus.

    or jesus and ,

i believe jesus is all we need, he is the one who took our sins away,

not our church fathers, or the pope or mary-

the road to heaven is narrow bro..

  • @999Thip it is a narrow road if you want to know where catholics reference their stuff you can go to scripturecatholic . com for every small doctorine they give about 15 verses in the bible that support it. please take pity on us catholics because with how many things we believe we would need to have 400 verses memorized so go here instead. I am Glad you believe in Jesus but the please remember that the Holy Spirit is important too. Pray to the Holy Spirit to guide you in all His ways.

  • @laffiteaumusic brother, i too was a catholic from childhood. but durning the late teen yrs, the holy sprit was leading me to the cross.

i did something i never did before, i open a bible up.

lets say the catholic church does not like that.,

my questions were return back to me with anger. this help me with my walk to seek the jesus, the son of the living god.,

i pray god will bless you in all your ways.

  • @999Thip oddly in my late teens I was questioned & I retreated to the bible as I gave you a website were catholicism is referenced in the bible. It pleases me to know you retreated to the Word of God for is it good for teaching and reproof. Peace be with You My Brother in Christ. May God Bless you Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • @laffiteaumusic jesus is lord

  • @999Thip Jesus is Lord, All christians believe this. I hope you are not angered by my responses and I usually find reading hard sometimes if you want something a bit better for you I would suggest Tim Staples. He was a Protestant minister but upon going into his Bible by his own free will came to the Catholic Church and he is the best person to listen to if you only want scripture from the Bible, I have others if you are interested in history, theology, or the apostles. Peace Brother

  • @999Thip Damn the fools who turned you away from the Bible. By God, we read it every day at Mass! Why not in your spare time?

I dunno. But DO NOT BLAME THE PRIESTS. they are imperfect. Read the Catechism of the Catholic Church if you really want the lowdown on what the Church believes in matters of Scripture. CCC 131 would beg to differ with whomever drove you away from reading the Bible.

    Quote:

...Hence "access to Sacred Scripture ought to be open wide to the Christian faithful." (CCC 131)

  • @SorokChyetirye i study the bible daily,

i dont need other documents other then the bible,

    read revelation 22:18

  • @999Thip Realise this applies to the Book itself. We are not to add or subtract to the Bible itself. At the same time, however, people have to interpret the Bible in some way or another. Sceptics interpret it in the light of their own fancies and whims, believing the Bible must challenge their own POV in order for it to be true. Christians are supposed to read it obediently and faithfully in line with God Almighty and His will. Catholics do this, too. We've been doing it for 2000 years.

  • @SorokChyetirye where is it the will of god to worship anyone else but him,

talk about a person interpreting the bible too their own fancies and whims,

you see brother, its for this very reason the sprit led me away fron the catholic church and to the truth that jesus is the only way to the father., its through him we are saved.

we are not to worship anybody else,,this means to pray too. we can pray for others, but not to them.

    god bless bro

  • @999Thip So you mean, you do not ask anyone to pray for you when you need prayers?

That is one thing prayers to the saints and angels is; it is a request for them to pray for you. Since the body of Christ cannot be dead (not any part; it is always alive), our brothers and sisters in Heaven are alive in Christ and can pray for us.

And all the power any Saint has comes from God. Without God, they could do nothing. When we pray to the saints, we ask them to help with the power God's given them.

  • @SorokChyetirye why would you fool around and go to the saints, when you can directly to jesus himself._

jesus said come to me, ask anything in my name and shall be given to you-

you see, this was my point early on, many think they are on the right path,

but the evil one sways people away into thinking that we cant have this relationship with jesus.

the road to hell is far and wide friend.

  • @999Thip Of course we're supposed to have a relationship with Christ! But the saved also had one, and they can provide many keen insights into what the life of a slave of Christ is like.

Tell you what, instead of assuming we worship Saints or that Catholics must be wrong, why not educate yourself in what is true about the Church so that you might understand what you are giving up?

There is a website called "Catholic Answers" that teaches what Catholics ACTUALLY believe. Go there and learn.

  • @SorokChyetirye please dont assume that i have not been there,.

    and then kicked off.

  • Just as you might ask a smart man to help you with your homework, or a strong man to help you with a heavy burden. So we ask the saints, who have perfect communion with Christ, to help us with our spiritual burdens. It is not worship; it is asking for help as if they were alive. And when any person dies in Christ, they are more alive than they were on Earth, and certainly they should be able to help us more so than before!

  • Not to mention, you guys are missing several books and parts of books from your Bible. Sirach, Wisdom, Tobit, Judith, parts of Esther, Daniel, Maccabees and other stuff... These were thrown out my Martin Luther, who by his own pride decided that since they were not found in Hebrew they must not be Scriptural. I am not saying Luther was always wrong, but let's be serious. For 1000 years or more, the only Bible any Christian had available was the Vulgate. And it included the deuterocanon.

  • @SorokChyetirye as long as we agree that jesus is the only way to the father, and one must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven.,

and we are saved by grace,

  • @999Thip I agree completely. But that is not the whole story.

  • @SorokChyetirye which is ??

  • In the second century we had the primordial seeds of Christian teaching presented to the people in the Didache - the first Christian catechism in history. This was an interpretation of the Bible of the first Christians during the lives of the Apostles, or shortly after they'd died. While the Didache is not Scripture, it provides insight into how the first Christians interpreted Scripture - as do the writings of many apologists like Ignatius of Antioch and Justin Martyr.

  • Should not their obedient and God-fearing understanding of the evangelist's words, no more than a century or so after Christ's death, have more weight than your own? You do not need to reinvent the wheel! The first Christians already did what you and other Protestants and non-denoms are trying to do! The only difference between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches and the Protestants are that the Protestants are starting from square one. We've figured out square one already! Move on!

  • @999Thip Besides this, what good does it do you to criticise that which you do not know about? You know only part of the Catholic Church if you read the Bible - just as you only eat part of an apple pie if you only eat the crust. The Bible was the beginning. All Catholic theology is built on the oral and written Traditions of the Early, Apostolic Church, and nothing more or less. You can read the Bible, but when read faithfully, it will always lead you back to the Church which first believed it.

  • @SorokChyetirye you say i should follow the catholic church for its traditions, yet jesus christ himself said

that the traditions of men are like dirty rags..

you see, i shall follow jesus rather then men.

jesus is the one we shall all answer too.

  • @999Thip There's a difference between the traditions of men and those Traditions of God. The priesthood, for example, is a Tradition of God. Christ ordained Peter His first bishop and priest, giving Peter "the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven" in Matthew 16:19. (Cross reference Isaiah 22:22, and you will see that giving Peter "the Keys" is like giving him second-in-command-ship.) Bishops have been around from the beginning.

  • @SorokChyetiry its clear you dont know the traditions that man has made in the catholic church.

  • @999Thip Tell you what: for a good 18, 19 years of my life, I spent in relative ignorance of Catholic doctrine, teaching, and of the Saints and Mary and of so many other things in this Church. But in the past year or two, I've been learning. Researching. Seeing what my faith is actually about. And I can rest assure you, sir, this past year has taught me more about Christ than any of those previous 18. I may not feel the love, but now more than ever am I convinced He is our Lord and saviour.

  • @SorokChyetirye then why add on all this other stuff?

are you saying jesus is not enough?

are you telling me that jesus really did not mean what he said, when he said, I AM THE WAY,THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, NO MAN COMES TO THE FATHER BUT THROUGH ME.

if you trust in jesus, why do all the traditions of man.

  • @999Thip Do not forget that the Saints have no power on their own. Christ acts through them - through all things, in fact. Without Christ, and God, no life. No existence. No nothing.

To deny that Christ is able to work through His saints and angels - through those whom have died in Him and now live a more real life than we do now - is to call Christ weak and feeble and stupid. Christ can work any way He pleases - including through the Church Victorious.

  • @SorokChyetirye you do understand that saints are people still living too, dont you.

and we pray for them, and not to them.

we dont pray for any passed saints,, only to jesus, who is the only person who can lead us to the father.

  • @999Thip Yes. We do pray for the Saints. But like people down here, we also ask them to help us. Because when they are in the afterlife, if they are Victorious, they have the power to help us, as they did before. Indeed, they have EVEN MORE power since they are not restricted by their bodies.

We ask the saints just as we ask our friends, neighbours, and workers. We pray for them as we would our friends, neighbours and workers. For the Saints are our friends, neighbours, and workers in Heaven.

  • However, clerical celibacy, that is a manmade tradition. It is not a bad or pointless one. in fact, it is based very much in Scripture. Christ taught (and rightly so) that unmarried men think on pleasing the Lord; married men are focused of pleasing their wives and on earthly things. Celibate men, therefore, are probably better candidates for the burden of priesthood.

All the same, clerical celibacy could change; Peter himself was married, after all. And some Eastern priests can be married.

  • @laffiteaumusic Well said. Without the Catholic church, the protestants wouldn't even have a Bible. May the peace and the love of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

  • @Ickypoo0904 you see i was a catholic going to church every sunday, going to CCD on wednesdays, and the whole 9 yards.,

and never knew the truth about jesus christ, i now trust in him,and he is my friend.-

i also knpow tht he is not still a baby , growing up it was drilled into my head, but now my eyes are open.

  • @999Thip I am confused I don't know what message the person that was trying to drill in your head that Jesus is a child still. I will say he was human so at a young age he had to learn the torah and prophets like we should in CCD with the Bible.

I will say & most catholic reverts say CCD has been weak since Vatican 2 council. I learned what catholicism taught while in college (eventhough I went to CCD)& I found it very profound. I might not have gotten it at that age. I am happy you love Him

  • @999Thip Christ can take on whatever form He pleases. At one time, He was a helpless infant. At one time, He was a helpless criminal on a cross. And at one time, He was able to amaze people with wounds in His hands and fish at His fingertips.

Do not oversimplify what the Catholic Church teaches about Christ. You wanna know what the Church really teaches? We got a handy little book called "The Catechism of the Catholic Church", and a plethora of websites with good info.

  • @SorokChyetirye again using other documents other them the word of god.-

    friend, be careful,

many will say on that day, lord lord, did we not cast out demons in your name,

but jesus said, begone from me, i never knew you..

just stick to the simple teachings of jesus, a child can understand it..

turn to jesus, ask him for forgivness, and turn from your evil ways..

pride is something most of us overlook.,

    god bless the tea party.

    and god bless AMERICA

  • @999Thip Then why are there so many divergent "churches" with different interpretations of the Scriptures, not one conceding the others' truth? I agree pride is a big problem. It is the cause of the thousands of Protestant sects and churches that are in discord with each other. The Catholic Church is ONE - no part is in disagreement with the other on important points of doctrine. We are unified and obedient. I would not call the Protestant churches unified, and often not obedient, either.

  • @SorokChyetirye please dont forget that i spent 33 yrs in this religion, so i know first hand that a catholic can drink, have sex with other women, think bad thoughts, etc, and on a sunday go to confession say a few our fathers, and hail marys, etc,and all is well--

not anymore, i know now that i need jesus 100% in my life., not just on a sunday morning mass at 1100.

only jesus han change a heart of a person, no church, friend.

  • @999Thip Hypocrisy is universal. Westboro and Jeremiah Wright are testimony to that.

Jesus is the only one who can change a heart. But He can change it through other people (someone gave you your Bible), through writings (the Bible, while divinely inspired, is written by other men after all), and through experiences (like Paul on the Road to Damascus). It's not like Jesus visits you in your home one night and asks you to love Him. He works THROUGH others, including the Church Victorious.

  • @SorokChyetirye i notice with concern that you did not mention the sprit in anyway,

    why

  • @999Thip I am a Trinitarian Christian, if that's what you are implying. When I refer to God or Christ, I also mean the Holy Spirit, for they are one and the same.

*God the Trinity (Father, Son, HS) is the Creator of the universe.

*The Father is the God the Jews know and knew before Jesus came.

*The Son is Jesus, who is the Saviour of the World and also God.

*The Holy Spirit is God with us in Spirit. He protects the Church so it may not fall into error, and leads all souls to God the Trinity.

  • @SorokChyetirye I AGREE WITH ALMOST EVERYTHING YOU SAID,

BUT I STILL BELIEVE YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THE CHURCH MEANS, BROTHER.

  • @999Thip In other words, when I say Christ acts on someone, or God acts in the world, I mean God, whether the Son, the Father, or the Holy Spirit, acts in the World.

NOTE: If at any time i am at odds with official Catholic teaching, please, ignore me and listen to the Church. I mean to defend the Church, but I can only speak for myself on this subject.

  • @SorokChyetirye I WILL TAKE THE WORDS FROM THE BIBLE, RATHER THE WORDS OF MEN IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

MY SOUL IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THIS WORLD..

HELL IS A PLACE OF WEEPING AND GNASHING OF TEETH.,

AND MANY WHO THINK THEY ARE SAVED ,ARE NOT..

JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN.

  • @999Thip Yes, and Jesus works through His Victorious. And His Victorious have proven they are powerful IN HIM by answering our petitions.

All our words, whether to the man on the street or to God almighty ultimately go to God. Whether compliment, penance, thanks, or petition, all our words, whether to a beggar, a butler, or Saint Bridget, GO TO GOD. FOR WITHOUT GOD, NO THING CAN HEAR OR RESPOND TO OUR WORDS.

But God gives us people do take and use certain words we have.

  • @999Thip When we say "thank you", the person who we thank says "You're welcome". When we ask for something, either we are denied, or someone gives to us.

But all the time it is not just them giving. it is ultimately God giving to us. And they cooperate in His giving.

We are saved by God alone. But other people - living and dead - are His instruments. And the Saints are His instruments to show us what humans who follow Christ may endure.

  • @999Thip You can spend 33 years in a certain place and never learn a thing about it.

  • @999Thip And in part, I owe that to my friends on Earth, to seminars and apologists from all walks of life, and definitely to Saint John Vianney (and the moving play I saw about him, "Vianney"). The Saints, you see, give their entire lives to God. He is all they care about. Me? Christ is all I want to care about, too.

But I owe a great debt to the Church Victorious, who Christ works through. Without them, I may be languishing in nihilism, in base, cruel atheism. The Saints led me to Christ.

  • @SorokChyetirye how do you know it was the saints and not the sprit..

    please prove this

  • @999Thip Christ works through the saints. they are, willingly, His puppets. His instruments. All of creation, from the humblest soul to the mightiest asteroid, is an instrument for God to proclaim His Glory, Splendour, and might. So it might have been the asteroids. It might have been the Bible. it might have been my struggling family. But it was learning about the Saints, the Eucharist, and the History of the Church that moved me to Christ and His Church - to have faith and act in faith.

  • @SorokChyetirye do you understand what the eucharist is all about.

#2 and what history of the church, , read the bible, yourself.

#3why do you catholics seldom say the name of jesus.

ive noted this on many catholics ,

jesus is the only way to the father god.,

jesus died for all of mankind.

    jesus is alive today,

jesus is my friend and savior..

    jesus is lord

  • @999Thip

The history of the church means roughly the first 300 years before there was a bible, and yet spoken tradition from Jesus through the apostles is what created the bible. The catholic/orthodox church created the vulgate(bible) before it sadly split, but the bible version you read is missing the deuteronomical canon, because it did not suit the reformation. Catholics usually say Jesus Christ or Christ, and you are right Jesus is alive in heaven with all the Saints and Mary his mother.

  • @cmhmp10sd his father joseph is not in heaven? what about his other brothers mary had.

    - who are you to say whos in heaven,.

now i guess my brother that you will say mary did not have other children, i hope you understand this is how the devil swayed people to believe that mary was more then human,

and this is why catholics pray and worship her..

my friend, i pray your eyes can open before its too late.

  • @999Thip Since his father joseph is a saint, and the saints are in heaven, then yes he is. This is not my understanding, this is apostolic tradition that started with Jesus who made st peter the first pope. Have i said anything untrue? Is the mother of God not in heaven? Would you not have your mother with you after dying on a cross? We do not worship mary we simply ask her to pray for us, just as if I ask you to pray for me. It's called intercession. Read Luke

  • @999Thip I know this much: Saint Joseph is much revered by many Catholic men to this day. He is as much a saint as Mary. But we don't think he was without sin. (He didn't need to be; Mary had to be so Christ could be born without sin. Maybe he was.) But Joseph certainly made it to Heaven.

Mary had no other children. Joseph was a widower (much, much older than Mary, and well off).

She is no more than human. A creature. But God made her without sin. That's the only difference she has.

  • @999Thip Yes, read the Bible. You will see a number of things that the Protestants forgot, such as that "through the Law, we die to the Law (wait for it) to LIVE IN GOD" according to Paul. Or John 6:25 on: "I am the Bread of life... unless you eat (in the Greek: gnaw, literally eat) of this bread and drink this blood you shall not have life within you".

I agree completely with you on Jesus. But He also gave us a special gift: Himself in flesh and blood for all to worship - better yet, to eat.

  • @SorokChyetirye Read the entire passage friend. There are many references in the Holy Scriptures of Spiritual hunger or thirst for Christ. This passage is entirlely Spiritual, not literal. In fact, the people listening DID NOT understand... they continually thought He was speaking of PHYSICAL BREAD... as you are claiming He was. This is a mistake. Eat = come to me, Drink = believe in me (v35)... that is explained in context. Please read the chapter again and let me know what you think.

  • @uswestons The Apostles and their disciples would have vehemently disagreed. Take Ignatius of Antioch, for example. He was a disciple of John, and a bishop. In 110 AD he wrote a letter. In it one thing he said is that heretics " abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, flesh which suffered for our sins and which the Father, in his goodness, raised up again".(6:2, 7:1).

  • @uswestons In 150 AD, Justin Martyr wrote in his Apologies: "Not as common bread or common drink do we receive these; but since Jesus Christ our Savior was made incarnate by the word of God and had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so too, as we have been taught, the food which has been made into the Eucharist by the Eucharistic prayer set down by him, and by the change of which our blood and flesh is nourished, . . . is both the flesh and the blood of that incarnated Jesus."

  • @uswestons Origen (225 AD), Cyril of Jerusalem (the 300s), and Theodore of Mopsuestia (400s) also wrote in terms making it clear that the Eucharist is Christ's REAL body and blood. Now, you can feel free to "reform" the Bible as much as you and your "Reformer" buddies want to. But I prefer to interpret the Scriptures as the Apostles and their spiritual descendants did. And if you want to "reform" THEIR teachings, I will not listen to you. Period.

  • @SorokChyetirye Furthermore, It is important to point out that the Catholic Position is NOT that eating the Bread or drinking the Wine saves a sinner, so then, when He says "whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life" He cannot be speaking of the Eucharist... He has to be talking about faith.

  • @uswestons It is true that the Eucharist is not the WHOLE saving of a person. But, along with God's grace, and our response to it in faith, it is necessary to do good works - that is, it is necessary to BELIEVE and to OBEY Our Lord if we wish to respond to His grace effectively. If we OBEY, but do not BELIEVE, or vice versa, we do not accept Christ. So I believe Our Lord when He says "This is My Body... This is My Blood" at the Consecration. And I obey when he says "take and eat".

  • @uswestons Why do you interpret Genesis so literally, then? I am not saying it is bad to do so. But why do you trust the words of the writers of Genesis, and not the words of Our Lord, to be literal? Especially in a practical manner, where your belief or disbelief, your obedience or disobedience could mean the difference between your salvation and damnation? Genesis is not so important a matter; so long as God made us and gave the Earth to us to subdue, that is what is important.

  • @uswestons But Christ told us "Unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man and Drink of His blood, you shall not have life within you.". And later He said, at the Seder meal, "Take and eat; this is my Body. ... Take and drink, this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant it will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven." And Paul affirmed that those who drink the blood unworthily "drink condemnation onto themselves". Think on it.

  • @SorokChyetirye Listen, I do understand the Catholic position... and I admire your zeal for the faith, I do. But, it is important to realize Christ used allegorical/figurative language often. When Moses wrote Genesis he was creating a History book... that is not what Christ was doing when He spoke. If you read John 6, it begins with the miraculous feeding. These people whom He fed pursued Him for MORE FOOD, that is why He used the symbol of food to represent salvation.

  • @uswestons He did, He did. But He also explained His figurative language when He was not understood. But the people asked for food. And He gave them food: His body and blood, the fruit on the Cross, which is the tree of life. He did not have to explain it. They wished to eat. This is the food which feeds and satisfies the soul: the Body and Blood, which Christ gave on Calvary, and which He gave in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

  • @SorokChyetirye I also agree with obediance in our works, however I acknowledge it is not I who performs it, but the Spirit of God with in me causes me to walk in the good works He laid out for me ahead of time. Eze 36.27 "I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes" and Eph 2.10 "[we are] His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them".

  • @uswestons Indeed, the grace of Christ is the meaning of our salvation. If God did not give us grace in baptism, nor in the Sacraments, we would be incapable of salvation. But God's grace is not given to those who refuse it. And you can refuse the Spirit. The Apostles were told it was possible the Holy Spirit could come back to them when offering it. Therefore, we must first by our obedience welcome the Spirit, then we must collaborate willingly thereafter, or reject the Spirit (sin).

  • @SorokChyetirye grace in "baptism" "sacraments" ... there is no grace there. You are doing the same thing the Jews whom He fed did... they asked Him "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?” --- what was His response...? "Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” --- thats not a work at all! thats FAITH ALONE... Christ taught this, so why do you not believe it?

  • @uswestons The Apocalypse of John states differently. See Rev 20:12-13. Also see the Epistle of Saint James (2:24 and 14-26 come to mind), not to mention the Sermon on the Mount in chapters 5-7 of Matthew, where Christ exhorts His followers to DO many things, not merely BELIEVE many things.

FAITH (i.e, belief) is not enough. ACTION is necessary, too. Faith may birth action, but it is NOT alone.

PS: I see you still have not addressed the issue of Apostolic Tradition. Why?

  • @SorokChyetirye Faith is certanily not alone. That was a big theme of the reformation... Faith alone, but not faith that is alone. Sort of confusing, right? What it means is this... the initial faith in Christ is what saves (Romans 10:9 - "if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved") but in order for this confession to be just, good works must follow - but they will by the HS's power, not our own.

  • @SorokChyetirye It all really begins with a proper understanding of salvation... I feel that is where the Catholic Church has strayed.

  • @uswestons How? We are saved by God's grace. But for it to be a saving grace, we must accept it. Otherwise, everyone, even Satanists, would be in a state of grace...

  • @999Thip Speaking of the Bible: do you know the history of the Bible? Before the Council of Nicaea, there was no established canon of Scripture. Dozens and dozens of books floated around, including the canon we currently have. But it was through prayer, discernment, discussion, and more than a few heated arguments that the canon of Scripture, from Genesis through Relevation (including the deuterocanonical books) was established. It was through the church that the Bible was compiled. By God.

  • @SorokChyetirye No. Jerome listed the books of Scripture in the late 300's (ps he did not include the Apocrypha)

  • @999Thip And while we're on the subject, how about the Eucharist? The Real Presence of Christ in flesh and blood. How much greater a gift can there be than to have Christ RIGHT THERE, in flesh and blood, in front of you? The Eucharist is perhaps the greatest treasure we have. Almost as great as the Bible, from whence we derive the practise. John 6:26-69; Matthew 26:26-7; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19-20. He gave us His Body and Blood so we might become His body and blood to others. O_o

  • @999Thip One orthodoxly Catholic website I highly recommend is Catholic Answers. You want to know what the Catholic Church really is? Go there. You will see there that even we do not subscribe to such ridiculous ideas as worshipping the Saints, believing Jesus is ONLY a baby, believing we are saved by works only (or works plus faith) etc etc etc Jack Chick tracts that have been stuffed into your poor head over the years.

  • I'm a catholic who like Jewish and Muslim. I think one of the greatest steps in the history of mankind towards true world peace will be achieved when all Jewish people accept the fact that YAHWEH they love is Jesus and when all Muslims accept Alah they admire is Jesus. To me, YAHWEH is Jesus and Alah, Jesus.

  • Most of the protestants do not know that this hymn, probably one of the greatest of all, was made by a catholic sister/nun named Suzanne Tulan about 80 years ago. As a catholic, I feel greatly proud that this catholic hymn is being played in all around the protestant churches and having the protestants get closer and closer to our God, Jesus, our lord.

  • So happy to hear this classic Catholic hymn is played. Holy catholic, Glory for Jesus forever!

  • Truly, He is risen! And truly He will raise us up!

  • Hate never comes from God.

  • And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake: but he that shall persevere unto the end, he shall be saved. Mathew 10:22

I see people everywhere (not just here on youtube) attacking and criticizing the church and its followers. Whenever that happens I always rember this quote.

Remeber members of the Catholic church have done bad things but we have also done many good things but yet we are never given credit for the good we have done.

Because people will hate you for my name's sake.

  • The list of atrocities Is much longer that I can fit in one paragraph. Your knowledge of scholarship on the historic Jesus as opposed to the medieval Christ of faith is rather limited. You have a funny view of tolerance. I support the free exchange of ideas and do not assume those who pose opinions different from mine are intolerant. I just assume they have reached different conclusions. You can't defend the faith of the Popes, so criticism is deemed intolerance.

  • :]]] Favorite church song!

  • yes he will raise us up on the last day.....surely! God be with you!

  • From Constantine onward the religion attributed to Jesus of Nazareth is perverted into an exercise in power, subtle and grotesque. From the slaughter of "heretics" to the Crusades, to the support of regimes from Nazi Germany to Argentina, religion of Jesus bears little resemblance to the religion about Jesus.

  • @EdMDiv Could you have a more simple mided view of 2000 years of Christianity?. Do you repeat pat slogans on everything- or just ideas you don't tolerate?

  • This hymn's always had a powerful effect on me. For example, I heard this song at the funeral for a class-mate I met in middle school.; He died in February of 2011 & when we were getting ready to walk out to the cemetery while taking his casket out of the Church, this song was playing & I cried.

  • Such a beautiful hymn from the teachings of great love. It boogles my mind that from this comes a religion that is capable of such amazing brutality and violence. Christianity is a great idea, someone ought to try it sometime.

  • @EdMDiv

Try saying "You ought to try it, sometime." to the 7 people who hit the 'I dislike button'.

  • Wow! That was rousing! My soul is on fire!

  • Beautiful and inspiring

  • At least this version has the original words as composed by Sr. Toolan instead of the PC, neutered version so many on YouTube seem to prefer.

  • correction: ESTABLISHED at the price of His blood. There is but One Church, not 50K

  • @deercreek7 I agree, I gope you are talking about the Catholic Church haha

  • God bless the One, the Only CHURCH Jesus establishes at the price of His precious blood. God bless Bishop Pope Benedikt, the successor to the apostle Peter and slave of Jesus Christ, to whom Christ has given His authority and KEYS!! God bless "THE CHURCH", tended by the successor to the apostle Peter -- THE ONE & ONLY CHURCH that is 2K yrs old!

  • lol! 'jesus' will fall to the ground when Lord Satan comes to this world. Fellow Satanist will rise against you and your WEAK and PATHETIC religion! Hail Satan!

  • @FallenToxicBoy your name says it all, you will fall and you will regret every thing that you did in your life once you reach hell. it is only a matter of time until you reach there. remember Jesus said "im coming soon."

  • After communion today the choir was singing this hymn. Literally brough tears to my eyes and I am not embarassed to admit that either. lol Hoping every day to become a better person through my Christian faith.

  • i love you lord god bless them all who sing gods praise amen

  • I had the very fortunate experience of meeting Sister Suzanne Toolan when I went to a retreat in Burlingame, CA a few years back. She wrote this song (and many others) and hearing her sing in person was extaordinary. She has a song "Jesus Christ Yesterday Today and Forever," which is simply and profoundly beautiful. It's on a CD of hers with the same title. I would check it out if you have a chance!

    Peace~
