He's so cute!! This is really close to the sounds my Husky+Chow+? makes with the grunting and grumbling! The shelter listed him as a German Shepherd mix originally, but the more I looked into Huskies, the more I realized that's what he was. They're such wonderful dogs, even if they have "selective hearing" LOL Well, and the blowing out of coat, which is unlike anything I've ever seen before! The furminator brush is a godsend...!

This made me laugh. My sweet Bela (a red & white) passed away 4 months ago. She was so feisty & talked alot. She ran away when she was young to hunt like everyone warned but ALWAYS came back. I am told a rare trait. Once I gave her an electric fence (shaved her neck for it) she never got out. But they HAVE to run. We had 25 acres fenced in. When we lived in the burbs she acted out more (out of frustration). They do need discipline but more than that they need attention & a way to let our energy.

Discipline for a dog is ok but you never hit them. Especially a husky. They are a pack animal so they are touchy when it comes to hitting. All you have to do is grab the scruff of their neck (the back of their neck) and hold them there. You never hit dogs

Never ever get a Siberian unless you have the time and energy to give them. This isn't a leave him in the back yard 10 hr a day by himself dog. Without enough attention, they tear stuff up, run away, howl 'til the neighbors want to kill you, and a ton of other creative stuff. They like to work or play. My When he was happy, you could almost hear him giggle. If he was upset about something, I could totally hear him scolding me.

Hey there. I was just wondering (because I want a Husky myself). How do they behave? For example... I read in a lot of articles that they like to dig holes in the yard, and even escape and run away. I read that they should NEVER be trusted off the leash (which I wasn't going to do, but I don't want him running away as soon as somebody opens a door). How big do the males get? Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

The males get from 50-60 pounds, females from 40-50 pounds. All you've read is true. They WILL run away at the drop of a hat, so be wary of that. also they get very lonely without companionship. I would recommend having 2 dogs. They are beautiful, smart and willful and need a firm hand. If you don't set limits they will totally walk all over you.

But they are awesome.
