  • is it just me or THERES A HORSE SITTING IN MY LAP!!!!!!

  • Hi I wish you success

  • This is plain good.

  • ghost ride the whip!

  • the shift to riders in the storm is fanntasticccchhhh

  • heard this song on NPR's world cafe tonight. this rules.

  • Keep up the great work guys!

  • TABS!??@??!??!

  • Hermanos Vasquez xD

  • great trio ! i wonder if they use any other tuning except for Robert Fripp's NEW STANDARD TUNING...

I see they have more guitars in the backround.

  • the first song "Ghsot Riders" by Johnny Cash inspired the parody "Ghost Chickens" which in turn inspired the Doors song "Riders on the Storm" (the 2nd song here)

  • @QueenBeatlesWings Actually, "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky: a Cowboy Legend" (as is its full title,) was acctually writen in 1948, and sung by Burl Ives before Jhonny Cash

  • @Shmook1 Peggy Lee recorded it in 1949.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings I think you mean it has been recorded by johnny cash, frankie laine and vaughn monroe were the originators of this.

  • That was pretty cool. I'd like to see these guys live next time they play a show in Norhtern California

  • the emmanuel brothers can do this by them selves :/ but still way beyond my skill

  • yea right, Bobby Goldsborough hasn't aged a day in 35 years.

  • greath. thanks. I googled to find these guys.

  • Sin palabras.............. exelente agrupacion

  • OOOOh snap no they didnt.gotta lve the doors

  • Excellent :D

Reminded me of the Corries song 'Portree Kid'. Search for it here on youtube and you'll understand.

  • Absoluter überPr0n! 5/5

  • i wonder why they have microphones by there mouth:S

  • just in case

  • lol yippie yahyee...in to this house we're

    born....Jim Morrison

  • This an instrumental combination of ghost riders in the sky and riders on the storm. The first part is riders in the sky and and then some riders on the storm and then back to finish with riders in the sky. The rendition is pretty good, with short bits of brilliance, particularly in the riders on the storm portion in the middle. Recommended listening! Good job, California Guitar Trio!

  • Except they've done a medley of "Ghost Riders in the Sky" and "Riders on the Storm." Ghost Riders on the Storm. QED.

  • if you watch the entire vid, you would know why it's called "Ghost Riders on the Storm".

  • guess that one flew over ye ole head.

  • hmm, seems to me like your a little late on the upkeep there pal. maybe next time, before you correct someone, do it sometime CLOSE to when they posted it. i posted my comment due to the fact that this vid did not say "a medley, or a combination, or anything else in that matter", it simply put the song titles together.

  • OK.. i was being funny/nice.. now i see you really ARE a potential moron. GHOST... RIDERS... ON THE ... STORM

kinda self explanatory ... EVEN IF I DIDNT HEAR THE SONG i'd know wtf it may just be with a title like that.

  • Oh, yeah... that felt good.

  • NICE!!!!!!

  • well done

  • these guys are amazing!! Thanks for coming to Cosmo Music, Richmond hIll.

  • Oh shit! Kickass!

  • WOW, THIS IS AWSOME

  • i didn't get the title at first, but the second they hit the change, i epiphanied all over my keyboard

check my channel "two black guys"

  • just discovered this video. these guys are amazing. where are they based and are they still performing.

  • cgt is a giveaway i think

  • they are amazing

  • check out the best ghost rider on guitar

  • That kicked ass. Made me appreciate The Doors again, too. Nice work!

  • Yes, the song, Ghost Riders In The Sky, was on Blues Brothers 2000, and was a pretty darn good version. Also, The CGT did another version of this song that was a lot cleaner, and a little longer. Possibly an album version? It was played on Deep Tracks.

  • I apologize. The song is Ghost Riders. With an S.

  • Hell yea. For those of you that still don't get it. This is a great combination of two songs. The song Ghost Rider In The Sky by Vaughn Monroe and The song Riders On The Storm by The Doors. This is wonderful. Did they play Ghost Rider In The Sky in Blues Brother's 2000, or was that another Raw Hide? Someone refresh my somewhat glazed memory.

  • good playing THE DOORS!!!! BEST!!

  • it's the outlaws

  • they play a doors song called riders on the storm after ghost riders

  • and in parts play the two simultaneously... they are way cool.

  • Should be noted as Ghost Riders > on the Storm > in the Sky

  • Hey they're gonna be in Lincoln NE this wednesday if you live around here! They'll be at the Rococo Theater downtown March 11 starting at 8! I believe tickets are only sold at the door though!

  • It's actually called "Ghostriders", I have a version by Johnny Cash, I'm not sure if he did it originally, though. Yeah for those of you who didn't listen to the whole thing, it's a medley.

  • original is by vaughn monroe, johnny cash did it late in his career, i think it first appeared on an 80s album by him.

  • Written by June 5, 1948 by Stan Jones. Recorded by Johnny Cash, Gene Autrey 1949 movie and even Bing Crosby.

  • so cool

  • Pretty f+ing sweet. Bad ass. What a couple songs to pair up. Never would have ocurred the Doors and country

  • eeeehm, what do you think inspired the doors to write riders on the storm?

  • I wouldn't hazard a guess what made Jim and Ray tick. I just know they ticked pretty loud. Yeah, I'm sure they were big into C&W. Listened to Hank Sr. while reading Oedipus. I can see it.

  • Flawless

  • spettacolo

  • It's the combination of "Ghost riders in the sky" and "Riders on the storm" of The Doors

  • the correct name of the song is "ghost riders in the sky" not "ghost riders on the storm".

  • great vid! maybe add "ghost riders in the sky" aswell as a search tag. i know the song with this titel..

  • This video is great!!! I loved this song since I was a little girl!!!*****

    Peexxx

  • What a clean sound, it is perfect..

  • they're playing the song too fast.

  • interesting mix....at first I thought you made a mistake, but I do appreciate your work!

  • Awesome

  • Sono icredibili questi musicisti! e sono pure venuti a suonare a Morena!!! A Stazione Birra... e me li sono persi :(

  • kwel!!!!

  • xDDD

    Nice...

    Riders on the storm....

  • the're great.

  • Amazing

  • zimplemente fantasticoooooooooooooooz!!!!!!!!!

i ray erez un genio al crear eza musica

jim zolamente un poeta aciendo zu trabajo

  • Just perfect. You are amazing! Wow 5 stars!

  • Way to fast

  • tempo changes like that are very hard to execute - well done and bravo

  • tony levin speaks highly of the CGT during his lecture at BassPlayerLive...obviosly for good reason

  • Love it!

  • its ghost riders in the sky n spiderbit plays its better

  • Watch the whole video. It is both songs.

  • I must say that I was unfamiliar with this re-working of these two standards. I'm profoundly impressed! The tempo change was dramatic and strikingly so. It served to emphasize the distinctions between the tunes. Against the grain of some others, I feel that, if anything, the "Ghost Riders" part might have been a tad faster, but by no mean am I complaining. The warmth and intimacy of three splendidly played acoustic guitars speaks volumes. Please, gentlemen, keep 'em coming! True artistry!

  • Too fast. Too tinny.

    It's basso, boys, not soprano.

  • you guys are amazing

  • To Danny Desperate-unfortunately, you are not gettin it. CGTrio is not out to shred like Di Meola or to demostrate perfect classical technique, although I am sure they are perfectly capable of doing both. Watch/listen to their Circulation Prelude (keep in mind they are alternating each and every note between the 3 of them-amazing!) or "The Marsh," or listen to a cd, or better yet see them live, and you will see three guys playing together to create a unique singular musical soul. Pure magic.

  • Yeah! the only thing both songs have in common is the word 'riders' . I concur about the beat, slower it's better!

  • Thanks for the song , simply beautiful!

  • I really enjoy the memories brought back by both songs being played this way. I thank the band for 3:12 minutes of absolute bliss as I walked down memory lane.

  • It is very wonderful.

  • well done

  • great vid, i don't what you guys are talking about, CGT is awesome good cover

  • uhmm, nice...But if you like, search for Bermuda Acustic Trio

  • GHOST RIDE THE WHIP!!!

    NIGGA!!!

  • So, folks, if ever you wondered why electric guitars were invented, now you know. If purgatory is listening to one strummed flat top in a folk club, watching three of them jangling away politely on two harmonically challenged modern standards is surely eternal damnation... Walk Don't Run should be in your face, not up it's own ***.

Tepid, toneless, tuneless and tedious. It's not funny and it's not clever.

Now where's that Django CD (for real acoustic SOUL)??

  • Django Rocks! - Paul Richards, California Guitar Trio

  • Actually, Django SWINGS; thankfully for us all! And as for swing, well in the words of Louis Armstrong:

'Man, if you gotta' ask you'll never know...'

  • lol, try and stop sounding so pompous for a second would ya? i'm no particular fans of these guys either, but i also don't act all superior :P .. i'm sure i've found much better acoustic masters than django and all, but meh, you'll probably never get past your gypsy jazz stuff

  • No you haven't found 'much better acoustic masters' than Django, you are being silly. I'm not stuck on the past, but Django (like Bach, Mozart, Duke, Monk) set a gold standard that this stuff fails to even approach.

I do agree there is excellent more recent contemporary ac. guitar music - try String Trio of New York or Shakti. However, it is probably too 'far out' for most youtubers who prefer their music bland - and, jeez, there's plenty bland to go round here!

  • While you make some good points, your attitude is just too muc to bear. You insult this piece of music, but then one of the guitarists signs-on and agrees that Django is a master. So my question to you is this: Instead of trying to be so cultured in guitars and guitar music, why not just enjoy the track?

  • This message is to Danny Desperate.

  • You ask, why not enjoy the track? For the same reason I don't enjoy scampi - nomatter how technically well prepared it may be it remains BLAND!

IMHO music needs to take risks, challenge, entertain and move yer feet (preferably all at the same time); this does none of these things.

Besides, Whitley Bay's own legendary teenage sensations 'Bicycle Clips' did this kind of light and poppy guitar trio thing much better back in '75 - and Master Halton even doubled on sax to mix it up a bit.

  • Shep79, it is useless to argue with Danny Desparate as it is obvious he is an "expert" and has formed his opinion of our playing based on this extremely low quality video upload of one of the silliest songs we play. And without ever actually hearing us play live, he passes judgment on our tone and musicality. It is interesting how these comments in general posted on youtube say much more about the person commenting than the thing they are commenting about. Paul - CGT

  • Well said. Keep playing brother, you're doing what so many people on YouTube only dream about.

  • I have to agree with Paul, my fellow guitarist on this point. It is easy to pass judgement on us without hearing the clarity and acoustics live, rather than a relatively poor 1 dimensional recorded version of it. We don't claim to be the greatest players in the world, although we're definitely up there, we're just having some harmless fun, so leave us alone god damn it. Jeremy - CGT

  • Of course theyre good, but it's too fast IMHO. This classic is starting to get some feeling when played slower.

  • these guys are really good!!

but for the master acoustics "Al Di Meola, John Mc Laughlin & Paco De Lucia" are god!

  • what about joe pass? he was pretty good back in his day...

  • This is really good. With Ghost Riders In The Sky and Riders On The Storm, I guess it's like a 1 - 2 punch right there with two great songs.

  • Acoustic! Now that is real guitar!!! No "fuzz",no trippler, no electronics. Just (in this case) a man and a REAL guitar. I thought the art was lost. Thank you for restoring my faith!! =Stefan=

  • lol i mariachi

  • I love these guys...but I would have liked a better transition between the two songs instead of just abruptly changing songs twice.

  • I like it, it think it fit it well

  • I like it, it think it fit it well

  • the are verry good

  • i see where you get the name from... riders on the storm and ghost riders in the sky.. nice... everyone should know riders on the storm

  • thats ghost riders in the sky not storm

  • it turns to storm at about 1:14

  • FUCK!!!

  • damn..theres no way thast tom cruise.

  • o wow ghost riders in the sky, to riders on the storm ...

    that's pretty amazing

  • They are great!!! Going to see them tonight at World Cafe Live. Special guest is Tony Levin.

  • Great version, nice harmany.

  • Ghost Riders in the Sky.....a GREAT SONG!

    you done it well.

  • Great job on one of my favorite songs -- but let's re-title it correctly: Ghost Riders in the Sky ... bridging into Riders on the Storm ... and back again.

They're great pieces & deserve their real names.

    But I liked it anyhow.

  • That's Tom Cruise in the middle

  • yeah, his scientology powers allow him shapeshifting and kickass guitar playing

  • Played too fast for the right sound.

  • It's Ghost Riders in the sky.

  • nice!!!

  • the are very good fine guitar jobs, great

  • Very nice, thankyou.

  • AWESOME! THis is my favorite song EVER~ and you did a fantastic job at it... I will share this for sure~

  • funny haha.

  • thanx for commenting, they play it on 3 guitars, I'm working the same piece out for one guitar, I hope it works...see ya

  • first part and last tabs are from "Ghost riders in the sky" played by Johnny Cash, the rest of the Highwaymen and many others.

The part in the middle ist "Riders on the storm" from "The Doors"

  • does anybody knows the original composer for this song? it's a great tune

  • Stan Jones composed it in 1948.

  • Exquisite amalgamation

  • Is there a Guitar PRo tab for this?

  • Might be New Standard Tuning, that's the one Fripp teaches the Guitar Craft guys.

  • Robert Fripp is a crazy dude, and his tunings are nothing short of bizarre.

Also, he's married to Toyah Willcox.

  • two great songs in one... amazing!

  • This is OUTSTANDING!!! Ilove the seque with "Riders of the Storm". It seems to fit. =Stefan=

  • I have seen these guys live three times, now I can finally direct people to see and hear what I experienced... STILL nothing beats seeing them live... THEY are nothing short of INCREDIBLE.. They exchange notes on an entire peice... very "circular" very cool... Catch em if you can EVER get the chance.

  • Yeah! Must see them live! I've seen them 1.5 times and I still don't understand what happened to me...

  • schweet!

  • omg, can i have this tab!?

  • The tab wouldn't do you much good. California Guitar Trio is known for using a totally different tuning that Robert Fripp taught them.

  • very good, thanks for this.

  • v good but check out david paul, see what u think

  • Why would this be under Science & Technology??? I've seen these guys SEVERAL times. I suppose it fits.

  • these guys rock i wonder if they do weddings

  • It is called Ghost Riders of the Storm.

  • No, this is Ghost riders in the sky. Riders of the storm was a Doors song.

  • As soon as I posted that, they started Riders of the storm, I appologize.

  • Nice!

  • great job!

  • Mea Culpa. Shoulda watched it all of the way through, then I would have know why it's titled the way it is.

  • The correct name for this is "Ghost Riders In The Sky".
