  • Whats the name on the overclocking software ?

  • @christuz040 AMD overdrive

  • is phenom ii x4 965 better than phenom ii x4 960t? please anwser

  • @TheUltimateEnergy111 yes it better.the phenom 960t its an energy saver

  • i have had one of these since mid 2010 and it is a BEAST for the money. overclocks like a dream, and will run almost anything maxed with the paired 6950 frozr 3

  • -guys, can someone help me? my phenom is running only at 800mhz and i dont know why. i already tried turning off the cool n quiet mode and i already updated my bios but its still like that. my mobo is Asrock N68-S UCC. ill appreciate any help..

  • @MyNameIsMikko

it's only running at 800 because of windows 7 power settings..when the cpu isn't being used extensively, windows clocks it down..you can turn that setting off, though. you can also turn off cool 'n quiet too.

  • @stok3d99 but why is that when i check my bench mark like what he did here in 1:22, i still got the same result? 800mhz. did he changed the power setting? thanks for your help.

  • @MyNameIsMikko Dude that's totally normal,u have a athlon II x2 and it goes down to 800mhz for 2.8ghz all the time when it isnt being utilized.

  • @MyNameIsMikko

It seams that your motherboard do not supprot this CPU (it needs to support CPU up to 140W).Check your motherboard manual

  • will this run bf3 at high to ultra settings with 1280x768 with a gtx 550 ti and 4gb ram windows 7 64 bit?

  • @paololat125 It sohuld. I Get 60 FPS on 1920x1080, All Maxed. Using a Phenom II X4 955, 8GB DDR2, Radeon HD 5770

  • @paololat125 no your graphics card not enough good to run on ultra but you can play on high settings

  • someone know if this can run heavy games like battlefield 3 on ultra?

  • @buzz9961 yeah im running this cpu with my radeon5850 maxed out 4x aa

  • @SApcGUY how much fps you get?

  • @buzz9961 about 45-55fps with no dips whatsoever, performance is even better if i overclock my vapor-x edition 5850 to 900mhz

  • A KILLER CPU for the next 6 years!! Save money and get this-more than enough to run crysis I/II and anything else!! Overclockable to 3.7 Ghz!!

  • How can i check if my AM2 motherboard has a BIOS update for AM3?

  • @hellninja25 use cpu-z

  • Thanks for the info..i just orderd one yesterday...

  • multiplier works like this (and no, I'm not being smart)

    18*200 = 3600

    19*200 = 3800

    20*200 = 4000

200 is just a reference, if you are unsure about what speed you are going to get USE A CALCULATOR!

  • does it fit in an AM3+?

  • what is the multiplier ?what does that to the cpu ? plz some one awnser me @

  • @exoticg9 18x

  • @Skash2006 what ? no...I whant to know what mean a multiplier on a cpu and what is needed on overclocking

  • lolzz

yahh sure it will run BATTLEFIELD 3

  • Comment removed

  • Will this be able to run Battlefield 3? Please reply ASAP!

  • @matt10matt10matt10 Haha runs bf3 easily :) I have this. great cpu.

  • @matt10matt10matt10 no, nothing will run Battlefield 3, not even your supercomputer.

LOLz, of course it will, the minimum requirements of Battlefield 3 is very low on the CPU front

  • I can't believe that AMD did not make their AM3's a pinless design. why not I wonder. It worked so well for Intel LGA 775 Socket Intel Core 2 Duo and Quad series.

  • Do you prefer Intel over AMD or vice versa. I prefer Intel still even though AMD is clearly starting to give them a run for their money. I don't particularly like Asus boards. I had bad experiences with Asus in the past. I prefer MSI, Intel, and Gigabyte.

  • the C2 goes up to 140W the C3 however only has a 125W TDP not 140

  • Comment removed

  • Just turn this into a six core processor :D

  • @EnzoG4MING lol six core,yah im sure

  • @joecobra1234 lol this is a high end quad core which can be unlocked with about an 70-80% chance just like the abilty to unlock the phenom ii x2 555 BE into a B73 or just a triple core processor

  • @EnzoG4MING actually the x2, x3 and x4 are all initially made as quad cores, therefore the x2 and x3 are binned x4s,

  • what shuld I use to cool it , I don't wanna spend much money

  • @TheNitFace Noctua NH D14.

  • @hrbear allready got one this COOLER MASTER Hyper TX3

  • will this setup play dx 11 games

    Phenom II X4 965 BE 3.4 ghz

    sapphire radeon 6870

    8 gb 1600

    ASUS M5A97 mobo

  • @lizardlicker5000 ummmmm yeah of course it will.....

  • Comment removed

  • @lizardlicker5000 That is actually the same build as me.

It will be able to play any game on max settings.

    Duh...

  • @koenigsegg1000 550 watts

  • Does this CPU have hyper-threading?

  • @WhiteSugarFive no only the intel 17's support hyperthreading. amd dosent offer that

  • @IgotGreens101 So, would it be that and the fact that AMD does not have great stock-coolers that make AMD the worse brand between them both?

  • @WhiteSugarFive no they both have there +'s and -'s. honestly i think amd is better for gaming and intel is great for like multitasking a bunch of stuff like media and things. but not saying intel isint good for gaming either or vice versa on amd. but in the end if your looking for gaming anything that has more than 4 cores is pointless becuase no game requires more than 4 cores so all the extra cores are just sitting there doing nothing.

  • @WhiteSugarFive so really it just depends on your preference in the end some people have good and bad luck with intel and some people have good and bad luck with amd.

  • was $245 2 years ago? :O

now its like 140 or sumthing...

    and a x4 955 for 100...

but sandy bridge is here and is 20 cheaper as the quad-core from that age!! :D

  • If i get this, 8gb of corsair ram, and dual sapphire radeon 6870's, could i get max settings on cod4 and black ops with 80fps or above?

  • @WuzzuTube easily

  • @WuzzuTube with that setup, you will get over 500fps on cod 4. max settings, and way over 130 fps on cod bo.

  • @WuzzuTube Very easy..

  • @WuzzuTube well if you have 2 video card you have to have the right motherboard or other wise its a compleate wast of time because the first pci slot is working aT x16 but if you put another videocard in the second pci slot then they both go down to x8 and vyou have 2 card working at the same speed and one card by it self, so if you have a board that x16 on two or more pci slots then go for it, but you should get more then 80 fps that is if your cod4 isnt fps locked.

  • @GwadLyke not many gpu's today max out x8. I have two rigs one with an x8 set up with 4890 cf and another with 5850 cf with x16 and when i swapped them over the x16 had on average 3-4fps more

  • YEAH! Thats my CPU right there ;D Awesome PCWizKid

  • Hi if i get this CPU and a ATI Radeon Sapphire 5770 with 4GB of ram will it be able to play WOW with reasonably high setting and COD 4 also reasonably high.

    thanks

  • @bammargeraskate96 that depends on what resolution you're intending to play at. 1680x1050 youll be amazed how well they run, 1920x1200 you may see some slowdowns at the highest settings. turn down settings you dont notice much (in WoW, sunshafts, shadows and particles can be lowered a bit with little quality loss) and you can compensate for any performance loss. but yes youll be able to play at least on high settings, if not ultra!

  • @bammargeraskate96 WOW can be played on the shittiest computers without problems so a 5770 is a big yes, same goes for COD.

  • @bammargeraskate96 lol I have a 5770 and 4gb ram and you can play any game on High settings easily.

Starcraft 2 singleplayer everything on Ultra I get 60fps. COD 4, MW2, TF2, BO, and F1 2010 all on highest settings and I get a very high fps 60-40( with an Athlon x4). Resolution 1600x900.

  • @mourajini Thanks i now have my computer and you are completely right.

  • Does AMD Phenom II x4 965 only come in Black Edition , plz reply , it will help a lot

  • @gazzxr i think it does, its great in combination with a 5850 sapphire :)black ops at 220fps maxed out without AA on 1920x1080 its really good, but the sound is....JESUS!!!!

  • @ScavangerHDvideo uhhh , i play Bad Company 2 :)

  • @gazzxr me 2 :) never drops bellow 60fps,it goes up to 120,its really good maxed out 1920x1080 on windows 7 meaning it runs with dx11...its beautiful :) :) :)

  • @ bammer that's the type of ram it supports as long as you have pci express 2.0 and a good CPU ur good :)

  • please can someone explain something to me? I have been making my own pc build up and the motherboard i was looking at is a ddr3 but the graphics card i was looking at is a ddr5 how does that work?

  • @bammargeraskate96 It doesn't matter, the GDDR3 memory needs a AM3 processor, but the video card has nothing to do with that so you're good to go.

  • is it compatible with nvidia gtx series?

  • @ycchne Sure is doesnt matter what brand video card you use it will work as long as you have a PCI-E slot on your motherboard to fit the card

  • OMG the spec u sue to test this out is exactly same as mine besides me having an extra 2GB ram the mobo and the graphic card are the same, and I was thinking about getting this processor too

  • Great review. I picked up one of these when building a gamer rig when I found multiple sources show that it in fact kept up with, and even beat a number of i7's in extreme HD resolutions. Since I'm driving multiple displays, it's great. I find it strange that these AMD Cpu's do so well at extreme resolutions, but it's all good. So far at it's stock 3.4Ghz it's driving a 6970 OC card no problem. I feared possible bottleneck.

I hope you review the upcoming Bulldozer Zambezi 8000 series chips also.

  • xD bioSOCK :D

  • @jaguarjay13

hehheh, inTEL, well, at lease it's right when he says aSUS.

  • I have this CPU, not a bad gaming CPU that will pull it's weight but is loosing it edge in some odd Pc only games. Going to wait and see what AMD pull out with the Bulldozer line and if it's too much money i may settle for a i7 :)

  • Any body have advice or a new build and a first time build? I haven't built a computer since single core processors and the tech has changed completely. I'm so so with computers 27 year old male. Looking to be able to play high end games with out breaking the bank on a system. I've so far decided on a quad core. I'm staying away from intel do to the fact they are so expensively retarded. Amd vs Intel oh what to do? thanks people. Going with an Amd with alot of success on my amd laptop. Thanks!

  • This or a i5?

  • @Lazertag44 i7 > X4 965 > i5

  • @Lazertag44 wichever suits your pocket,i5>phenom II when it comes to preformance but, the phenom II is much cheaper and brings preety decent preformances,so as i've said, wichever suits your pocket.

  • @Lazertag44 this

  • Do you have an Review Of the amd phenom ii x6 1055t ?

  • damn, i hate the face of the kid at 0:00-0:02 >=(

  • my set up is old but still runs well

    amd phenom 2 ( 4 x 2.5GHz)

    8Gb ram (4 x 2 gb at 800mhz)

    ATI hd 5770 (1gb ddr 5)

    2000GB hdd's (1 x 1tb and 2 x 500gb)

    HD 3D tv screen 1050 x 1980

its running well lol nothing i have can max out that cpu lol

  • @danielsayles are you retarted????? that system is great you know, anybody would kill for that system LOL

  • @daniel9711

i have started having problems thou.

i updated windows 7 and from then my graphics card drivers not working properly

the screen gose black i then have to restart the system then windows displys a message saying

you video driver has stopped responding >.<

  • @danielsayles my gtx 460 did it!

  • @TheXtremeGamer90

i found a fix i went back to an erlier driver which has stopped that error

  • @danielsayles ha! mine is longer :D

  • im a noob, but is it quad or dual?

  • @wieran35000vr Dual = x2 Quad = x4 (y)

  • @Niwcke lol sry im a stupid CANADIAN.

  • @wieran35000vr quad

  • @wieran35000vr quad core

  • Isn't 1.46V a little high? i thought the voltage shouldn't be over 1.4V?

  • @JamesNade For some reason i got 1.704 V. ?!

  • @Niwcke are u going to burn it ??

  • My 1055T is running at about 12c idle, 14 while playing cod7. You recommend great CPU's PCwizkid!

  • @gokill96 It will go fine for high end gaming, but may get outdated in 3-4 years

  • @gokill96 It all looks good to me :D

  • to be totall honest, AMD are the same as intel, yet, amd cheeper, would go for amd on a gaming rig.

  • window 7 Ultimate only supports maximum of 2 cores which Im still wondering why ppl go for quad cores or 6 cores...because the maximum quantity of physical processors of a PC that Windows supports is: 2.. So pls do explain this, pls tell me quad core or 6cores works if it only supports 2.. Im using the AMD quad 965 BE myself

  • is the Phenom X6 1090T Black better?

  • @wmjs2andfriends

Yes, but the performance difference is not at all worth the extra amount of money.

  • i have this processor and the temps rise dramatically when playing games... in a couple of minutes it reaches 55-60 C... it also makes a lot of noise... i use it with the stock cooler... is it normal?

  • @sebiandrei2008

If you use the cooler and fan that came in the CPU box, then the answer is very likely "yes".

Invest in a quality aftermarket cooler (with fan included) from companies like Scythe or Xigmatek. It will cost you from $30-40, but noise and temperature under load will be definitely less.

  • @Eibelsfeld yep i use the stock cooler... i got used with the noise but i find it quite odd lol

  • Anyone here.. need help

i have a litle bit confusing bout this proccessor.. Its 3.4Ghz processor but why when im install to my PC ,its just show 800mhz&not 3.4Ghz? could any pro give me hints or solution plz..

  • @AbeNicxs

If a modern CPU has nothing to do, it will reduce its clock speed. That's perfectly normal and actually a feature technology, AMD calls it "Cool'n Quiet", Intel calls theirs "Speedstep".

Give your CPU something to do, then check its speed again.

  • @Eibelsfeld oh Yea? Thanks anyway pal..

  • Comment removed

  • @AbeNicxs

Im not an uber pro computer guy. But the 800mhz is what something else runs at. It should stilll be 3.4Ghz though

  • @PreciseArrow1

    AMD (TM) Cool N' Quiet...

  • @AbeNicxs

Disable Cool N Quiet in the bios and the CPU will remain at 3.4Ghz at all times. With Cool N Quiet enabled, the CPU runs at 800Mhz while the computer is idling. Once you put some load on it (like for example when you fire up a game), the CPU will run at its full 3.4Ghz.

  • @ndogg360 Really? Thanks anyway pal..

  • @AbeNicxs

yeah, really. did you even do what i told you to do? If disabling cool n quiet fails to fix the problem, update your motherboards bios to the latest version. Doesnt matter if you motherboard supports Phenom II CPU's, if the bios revision doesnt, it wont work.

  • Biosock lol. 5:21

  • your reveiws and unboxings are awesome!!!!!!!!!!! I have a question though! I bought a xion 800 watt powerreal PSU and had read really good reveiws prior to buying it, then i saw a few bad reveiws. i am building a gaming rig with 2 GTX 460 768mb videocards, 8gbs of corsair xms ddr3 1333 memory, amd phenom 2 965 black edition processor, 1 dvd rw drive, one 2 tb harddrive! will this power supply be sufficient??? My mobo is MSI nf750-G55. Please answer me! pls! once again your reveiws are AWESOME

  • @GTechQuest

    extreme.outervision (dot) com/psucalculatorlite (dot) jsp

Make sure the wattage on your PSU is "continuous" not "peak power".

  • @PyroPortrayal Hey thanks alot!!! l still havnt found out if my PSU is continuous or not but the website u sent me to said that i only need a 650 watt PSU! i have another question! Do u think based on the specs i gave that this will be a good rig for gaming????? and thanks again for answering!

  • @GTechQuest

I do believe you are going to fun have a fun time! Based on those specs it compares nicely with mine, which is doing an amazing job. WoW at ultra 55-60fps in raids, mw2 at 90+ fps maxed out at 1680x1050 etc..

However, watch your bottlenecks, you may want to consider 2 hard drives in raid 0 or something similar to that, but really, that built should eat up anything you throw at it.

  • @PyroPortrayal You are correct!!!! Finished building my system a week and a half ago and so far theres nothing i cant run at maximum settings with smooth frames! Thanks!

  • @GTechQuest

    Glad to hear it :)

  • box cooler is shitest what i ever see lol

  • God, I hate being poor.

    That's it, I'm on a saving role.

    I WILL SAVE, FROM NOW.

  • great work man !!!

  • I am upgrading, would you choose this over an intel i5-760, 2.8GHz. I want to mainly use it for photoshop, Adobe light room, Sony Vegas and general stuff. im not a hardcore gamer, so it is not too important. just want it to be fast and be able to handle anything I throw at it. What would you recommend?

  • @MrSuperFly86 buy the 965 Be ( but the cooler is loud as fuck)

  • @MrSuperFly86 Well.... I could say to actually get the Phenom II 1090T or another one of the hexa-cores if you wanna future-proof your system.

  • @DeltaPhi79 If you wanna future proof your system just wait 5 months for the bulldozer beast come ;)

  • I'm seriously thinking about getting this CPU but I'm not sure that it will work well with my graphic card. Someone at the store told me that my graphic card is not good enough to support this CPU and i wont be able to use the CPU to it's max. is this true?? my graphic card is an radeon hd 3800, its 512mb, the core runs at 680MHz, it has a bandwidth of 53GB/s and a texture/pixel fill rate of 10.7GB/s.

Plz respond to this as soon as possible, i really need some advice. Thanks!

  • @GenieInAFantaBottle ur bottlenecking ur cpu. try to get 5800 series cards or the new 6870.

  • wow 15 gays dislike this !!!

  • what happens when it gets to hot..

  • @PLxbxz pfft thats how i cook all my meals.

  • Which possessor is better Core I3-530 or Phenom II X4 965 BE for games like Team fortress 2 and starcraft 2 with a HD 5770?

  • @TheMrMeff

very few games use all 4 cores efficiently, one of the best bang for buck options would be a phenom II x2 black eddition with a massive overclock

i3-530 is really not a good gaming cpu considering value / performance

  • @M4nimal more and more games are optimised for quad core. Dragon age: origins benefits from a 75% performance increase from "comparible" dual core models. Bad co. 2 also benefitted greatly (100% increase). I was considering a phenom II x2 550 BE, but with more and more games optimised I'd rather go for an OC'ed phenom ii Quad.

  • Hi PCWizKid, I'm just wondering if you were running the CPU on a stock cooling fan and heatsink or did you apply the CPU with an aftermarket cooler? Thanks.

  • PCWIZKID I AM GONNA BUY A ASUS AM3 slot BOARD WHICH IS THE BEST CPU FOR AM3??? PLLEEEEASE ANSWER!!!!!!!!!! PLLLEEEASE!!!!

  • @Jaschar60 Phenom II 965 x4 runs at 3.4 Ghz stock. The new 970 came out, but all it does is run at 3.5 Ghz stock. A bit of a waste esepcially when you can overclock the 965 to 3.5 Ghz with no trouble.

  • @Jaschar60 Its not to hard to go to the amd website :( and the best of wat energy saving? game? programa? casual? bechmarks? So many things you need to answer your self before you buy any cpu if it is a amd or intel. The best cpu can be crap if you don`t know what you need.

  • Why cant u have ddr3 1600 mhz with this??

  • where can i download 3dmark pro ?i cant seem to find a proper link!..pls.. i need help

  • never gna but intel yea my first pc was fast as hell it was p3 800mhz but now the prices are wtf not worth it im just gns buy amd plus iv herd amd is better for gameing

  • @BassPounderX AMD USE to be better for gaming people seem to over use that phrase. back in the day AMD was better because it would take the load for the weak GPUS of back in the day. Now Intel pumps better power but for some reason they are charging ridiculous prices although for gaming the AMD and intel cpus you should get are about the same.

  • btw .... can some one pls tell me about this.... i dont have any specialised fan for the processor just the normal AMD...my pros is 3.4black edition.. and have a m4a88td EVO ASUS mboard...i tried to overclock to 3.74 and it works... but now i cant go back to os default... i always have to adjust when the com is on.... does any body know how to reset back to normal...cause im afraid overcloking my proocessor will pretty much reduce lifespan

  • @KHONObakayaro What did you use to Overclock? Did you use AMD Overdrive, or did you do it in the BIOS? Also did you simply crank up the multiplier, and/or the system bus?

  • @HypnoticSuggestion

im using turboV EVO which i think is in the BIOS... AND I CHOSE AUTO TUNING... I SELECT FAST TUNING...just wondering how to get back to normal

  • @KHONObakayaro Just leave it at 3.74Ghz, that's awesome by auto over clocking, just get water cooling and OC it even more lol. As long as it doesn't go over 60 degrees on high, you should be fine.

  • @Awayze

any recommended cpu cooler? instead of water cooling

  • @KHONObakayaro Why not water cooling? I'm getting 965BE and going to water cool it xD

I was looking at the Cooler Master V8 or V10

  • @KHONObakayaro

    Thermaltake Frio :)

  • Hey PCWizKid

Can you overclock the 955 BE version without adjusting the HT ref clock? All i've done with mine is adjust the voltage to roughly 1.488 volts and changed the cpu multiplier to 19x to get 3.8ghz from 3.2.

Whats the disadvantage of not changing the HT ref clock or ht speed for that matter?

  • So that means im not getting a PC with crap on it?

  • The 965 and the 955 are better at benchmarks than the Phenom X6! I'm not sure what to buy... I want to buy a better CPU than my Athlon II 620 before Christmas. I heard that AMD will bring out before October two new 6 Cores CPU! The Phenom II X6 1035T 2,6 GHz and the Phenom II X6 1045T 2,7 GHz! I'm between 3: Phenom 955, Phenom 965 and Phenom 1045T! What should I buy? I know much for computers but I'm confused now... Better gaming or faster applications?

  • @WolvesDominationGR If you're gaming, get the quad. The hexacore is only good for multi threading.

  • @crxgun Now I'm between 2: 955 and 1045T! I read that 955 can be more Overclocked than 965 and it can be better!

  • @WolvesDominationGR I have the 955 and I have it overclocked it to 3.7Ghz (only increased the voltage by 0.025) being cooled by a Noctua NH-D14 (one of the best air coolers).

  • @WolvesDominationGR Just get a 965BE, it's pretty cheap and as good as an i5 which cost a bit more. Most games still use 2 cores so quad core is the best option

  • @Awayze just dont waste money on those stupid 6 cores LOL my friend went out bought the new intel 6 c0re and was braggin to me i was like bro you bought 6 your using 2-3 tops by time your even able to use the 6 cores for anything theyll be at like 12 cores and youll have ran out and bought that like a moron.
