A380. Wings are cracking, and not the minor cracks they tell you about. Airbus wing composite construction is a secret proprietary process, and now they are fucked. How long before the first horror. Wing disintegrates as an engine explodes?
@thelegodude04 I can't. But i really, really Boeing for some reason. Maybe that has something to do with a fact that Boeing is an American company and i am proud of it.
"Their baby is flying", this speaker is idiot, of course its flying, its a fucking airplane... Test is not moment when engineers wonder will it fly...
the plane boeing wishes it build in the first place! instead of its ugly piece of shit they call the 747 thats in the skie. A380 is queen of the sky, Rock on Airbus you are the best!
@oo6gepuka except, Boeing outclass airbus in most departments & has been around for nearly a century.Think about all the technological innovations Boeing brought to the market over the decades that airbus has taken for granted... and yes, the A380 is one hideous looking plane.. 747 intercontinental FTW
More passengers means more waiting to get on and off, checking in and out, and most importantly, more waiting for your luggage which is ALWAYS last out of everyone elses!, the 747 fills the roll of the big commercial jet perfectly and has 40 plus years of perfecting its design into a proven and reliable bird, this A380 was not needed, waste of money, full of issues and built for a big spending economy that has since died spectacularly.. EPIC FAIL
When making a new Concorde? Spend billions of euros in upgrades for combat aircraft and no one can make an airplane that takes two hours from Paris to New York?
@doormagic it can be made, but the fuel costs involved are still too high to sell any ticket at an economic price. supersonic flights will always be expensive. Power required = Force x speed, no matter how small the resistance force is, the high supersonic speeds soars the power required.
@doormagic because airlines want less planes moving more people at less cost. Supersonic airliners are too expensive and carry too few people to be economic at this time.
@windows7rocks1 I disagree. If there are thousands of supersonic military aircraft flying ,civilians also can may exist. It's all a matter of will, the Russian concorde was made for the transportation of troops, if it was only for civilians would never have existed. The war money is stronger than the rest of the world, unfortunately.
@doormagic I agree with you about war money, but look at all those military supersonic aircraft. They are almost all one or two seater planes that cost $5bn (ish) each to purchase, need maintainance after every sortie, cost a heck of a lot in fuel and are otherwise rather hard to adapt/redesign into a passenger plane. Oh, and by the way, the russian concorde never worked. Neither did the passenger one (not properly) anyway, which is a pity as they are nice aircraft.
@windows7rocks1 they worked, BUT i think its more of how many passengers can they carry for the cost . theres what 400+ on a loaded 747 and even more on the 380 cost per person is far lower.
@doormagic correct we can even make a safer plane than concorde but the problem with it was that cost per person was greatly high and people were hardly around 100-120 in high density.......and then came country politics the reason why conc was allowed to land only in NYC.....Countries saw it as a symbol of arrogance otherwise still a great plane....
@davfadri in fact, a double bubble concept has proved to be way more efficient, but as the engineers tell you, the materials nowadays are way too heavy for that. I believe it will come in the future.
for the VERY first time? BULLSHIIIIT!!!!! they were test flying this thing for 15 months!!! and saying the people are relieved their baby flies is bullshit either? during a test flight the engineering staff doesn't just sit in a crowd outside.. they all sit in a closed surveillance room chec king every last bit of data this plane passes on to them!
@alSation81 The A380 was 4 years in service not 1 year and a half and the 747-8 is not wanted by airlines because they choose the Boeing 77W which is very similar in size. and if they want something larger they go for the A380.
Only way the Concorde 2 is going to happen is if future technology manages to fix all of the problems that haunted the orignal Corde, at the end. You would need to make sure it can hold a lot more passengers than the orignal. Don't forget that there would need to be demand for the successor, in order for it to sell. Only private companies seem interested in super sonic flight, at the current moment.
The 747 is still being used and the frieghter version of the 747-8 is selling better than its passenger version. Granted, some day, the 747 won't be able to sell, anymore; no matter how hard Boeing tries. The 707, 717, and 727 were eventunally retired, for reasons. The 767 has been replaced by the newer 787. The same will eventunally happen to the 737 in the far future (which will probably be replaced by a 797).
AIrbus should leave the Bigger Planes to Boeing...heres the latest news Cracks found on A380 wing parts called 'non-critical' Singapore Airlines and Qantas Airways said this morning that they have discovered cracks on the wing ribs of some of their A380s, Reuters reports. However, both airlines -- along with Airbus -- insist that the cracks pose no safety threat and that repairs have been made
I have been and always will be a Boeing; but I will give this Airbus some respect, but all others I wouldn't even spit on.
Though one thing I find wierd is that my father went on a business trip to Australia working for Boeing, and they booked him a flight on one of Qantas's A380's
Don't get me wrong, this plane is spectacular but I personally find the AN-225 more impressive. A bunch of engineers throw together the largest plane in the world (still) in 3 years from start to finish in Soviet Russia/Ukraine and its still in use today. Something special about that!
LOL sorry what?! its 7 stories tall? i mean i knew about foor and inches and all but ive never heard about stories.... guess one of you has to tell me a little... STORY about that hahahahahaha -.- xD
Yes the A380 is quite impressive, but it is ugly. It will problaby go the same way as the Concord, last for a little while and then get phased out because airline companies realize that this is too expensive. The Boeing 747 has and still will be in service for quite a long time.
I wouldn't fly on 747 or A380. Simple reason, it's takes too long to board or gets off. Ticket price isn't any cheaper then flying on 777 or A330, so why bother flying on a big plane ?? For instance, an 18 hours non stop flight between LAX to BKK on A380 and you think the ticket would be cheaper since airlines cramp in so much passengers ?? Thinks again
The video narration is astonishing. First he presents and sustains an absolutely ridiculous "will it fly - moment of truth" perspective, as though it was all a big gamble. Then, when it flies, he does it over again with "will anybody buy it?" as though Airbus had no idea at all. Such a potentially interesting video was certainly wasted on such a feeble-brained writer; he basically sabotages the concept.
@Grroocx A lot of documentaries do this. Just about every documentary I've watched about building a tower or bridge creates "drama" by over exaggerating the problems the team faces. How else would they generate suspense and keep people watching?
@gobipill, possibly by walking softly, and carrying a big stick. Understatement works beautifully, leaving room for people to feel their own emotions; to sense their own wonder. When we teach, and when we share, we must always do so with great respect for those with whom we seek to communicate. It is always the moment, or the gesture, that matters. The best memories rest on authenticity, always.
@Grroocx that's the problem of popular documentaries: they're made for the most retarded of retards that are imaginable watching anything informational.
@Grroocx Thank you! You organized my thoughts perfectly! I couldn't think of a way to phrase my irritation with the narration and you did it perfectly. I agree 100%.
@Grroocx Thank you! You organized my thoughts perfectly! I couldn't think of a way to phrase my irritation with the narration and you did it perfectly. I agree 100%.
@Grroocx Thank you! You organized my thoughts perfectly! I couldn't think of a way to phrase my irritation with the narration and you did it perfectly. I agree 100%.
@Grroocx I noticed that too. What, is the Airbus going to defy the laws of physics upon take-off during its maiden voyage and fall out of the sky after rigorous planning and testing?
Well, I like this documentary, but I find two things stupid... 1. You don't need to go to a big airport (like Paris CDG) and board the A380 to go to the other side of the planet. There are a lot of very long haul flights, from a lot of airports using other aircraft types... 2. 9:17 - The A380 is not a history making concept. Boeing wanted to extend the upper deck of the 747 in the 90s, just like the a380, but then dropped the project.
I bet your Airbus next plane, like the 360 or 370, one or both will be a trijet like the MD-11, you heard it hear frist. Bombadier has taken the MD-90 like planes, Airbus has taken the MD-12 and soon, the trijets.
This is what MDC was going to do with the MD-12, imho MDC was the best in civil aircraft, they made very good original planes like the MD-90 and tri jets like the MD-11. Too bad MDC bad rep prevented the company for been more sucessful.
To all Böing fanboys, Böing isn't american, they're SAUERLÄNDER (ze germans), so is Airbus, sorry frenchies... So it doesn't matter, you root for Böing, you're rooting for ze germans, you're rooting for Airbus, you're rooting for the germans.
Y'know, if we clipped the wings and moved the engines (and built wide enough roads with high enough bridges), the A380 might've made an okay LAND vehicle (but watch out for tire changing...)
It's important people remember that flying machines that only carry a small family could be built that fly long distances yet would be so much smaller than this a380. I think the way forward is for people to fly themselves in smaller aircraft rather than a big massive machine for hundreds of people. We could have special lanes built in public for takeoff and landing.
@psougeorgia You can probably gather prohelipilot is ignorant & Boeing fanboy. He spends his sad existence trolling A380 vids trying to "prove" how bad the aircraft is. Not to be taken seriously in any way as his misinformed comment testifies. Several people on here have made him look the fool, because when you ask him to prove his remarks, he just cannot and tries to divert attention away. He's clearly an unemployed fool with nothing better in his sad life.
@psougeorgia No the 5 dislikes are from the airlines that have already bought the plane and wish they hadn't, Have you not noticed since they got the planes the airlines have not ordered any more. The sales to date are 236 aircraft sold, nowhere near the 1,000+ they need to sell to make a profit off the Titanic of the skies. But the plane is inefficient and is nowhere near as efficient as the new Boeings or even the other new Airbus aircraft.

Why would they build a plane and then call the public in for the first launch? This commentator is stuid because noone would build a plane and then show its first take off to the public
Technická data – A380: Délka: 73 m Rozpětí: 79,8 m Výška: 24,1 m Průměr trupu: 6,95 m Kapacita: 853 pasažérů Maximální kapacita: 880 pasažérů Maximální rychlost: 1 062 km/h Maximální množství paliva: 388 000 litrů Dolet: 14 450 km Optimalizovaný dolet: 15 100 km
DreamLiner 787 - Most fuel-efficient, most environmentally-friendly [least CO2 emission], most passenger-friendly [best cabin air O2 purification] airliner ever made. Looking forwards to fly on both!''
Ughh. This piece talks like nobody had ever conceived of a double-deck jumbo before the A380. The 747 early design considered a full-length double deck, as did the never-built McDonnell-Douglas MD-12.
And they don't mention that Boeing & Airbus collaborated on this plane before Boeing smelled the coffee & got out.
Concorde was a great plane, but a PanAm study showed the business case for the SST to be flawed even when jet fuel was 25 cents a gallon.
@hibob418 They seemed to bet on the right horse when it came to the re-engining of their single aisle A320. Boeing only followed by re-engineing their 737 to try and put a halt to Airbus' orders whitewash. However Southwest and Ryanair have both said they would have preferred Boeing to produce a new aircraft altogether.
Oh and BTW Concorde was profitable, in 1978 British Airways' fleet of 7 Concordes made up 25% of their annual profit! Now ain't that a shocker?
@cheesemaster1000 My airline would make a profit, too, if I didn't have to pay for its equipment. The British & French governments ended up eating the billions in development costs for Concorde, and after no orders were forthcoming they divvied up the 14 production models up between Air France and British Airways. BA got theirs essentially for 1 pound each after it went private in, I believe, 1982.
I would've given anything to push the throttles forward on that beautiful, incredible machine.
@hibob418 According to the British Airways website, BA paid more than £155 million for its concorde fleet (and that was in 1977)! The £1 figure is an old myth.
When I said profit, I meant net profit. The amount BA paid is irrelevant, the Concorde fleet still made up 25% of their net profit.
@hibob418 Well no one has ever had the balls to make such a big airliner except the Europeans. If Europe betted on 'the wrong horse' then why did they implement Fly-By-Wire into an airliner (copied by Boeing) and family commonality into an aircraft? Why has that aircraft sold faster than ANY other airliner?
@ACDsRandomness if u want to talk about boeing pleases proceed on and type that in the search bar no need to advertise it here, we are talking about airbus massive leap not boeing's pathetic upgrade

And why are there more orders for the A380 than the 747-8... Dude the A380 is more popular than the 747 now.

I prefer my private jet better>>>>
007RockNroll 3 months ago
Yes the A380 is quite impressive, but it is ugly. It will problaby go the same way as the Concord, last for a little while and then get phased out because airline companies realize that this is too expensive. The Boeing 747 has and still will be in service for quite a long time.
rock853okg 3 months ago
the 747-8 is the best
MrToaster747 3 months ago
I wouldn't fly on 747 or A380. Simple reason, it's takes too long to board or gets off. Ticket price isn't any cheaper then flying on 777 or A330, so why bother flying on a big plane ?? For instance, an 18 hours non stop flight between LAX to BKK on A380 and you think the ticket would be cheaper since airlines cramp in so much passengers ?? Thinks again

still prefer the triple 7
but hey cool plane

747-400 and 747-8 is junk in front of this beauty.
fachy1981 3 months ago
@fachy1981 How can you say that? Airbus and Boeing both rule! And infact, the 747-400 is my favourite airplane ever.
arjennovic 3 months ago
The video narration is astonishing. First he presents and sustains an absolutely ridiculous "will it fly - moment of truth" perspective, as though it was all a big gamble. Then, when it flies, he does it over again with "will anybody buy it?" as though Airbus had no idea at all. Such a potentially interesting video was certainly wasted on such a feeble-brained writer; he basically sabotages the concept.
Grroocx 3 months ago 26
@Grroocx A lot of documentaries do this. Just about every documentary I've watched about building a tower or bridge creates "drama" by over exaggerating the problems the team faces. How else would they generate suspense and keep people watching?
gobipill 2 months ago
@gobipill, possibly by walking softly, and carrying a big stick. Understatement works beautifully, leaving room for people to feel their own emotions; to sense their own wonder. When we teach, and when we share, we must always do so with great respect for those with whom we seek to communicate. It is always the moment, or the gesture, that matters. The best memories rest on authenticity, always.

@Grroocx that's the problem of popular documentaries: they're made for the most retarded of retards that are imaginable watching anything informational.

@Grroocx I noticed that too. What, is the Airbus going to defy the laws of physics upon take-off during its maiden voyage and fall out of the sky after rigorous planning and testing?
Linguistador 1 month ago
Well, I like this documentary, but I find two things stupid... 1. You don't need to go to a big airport (like Paris CDG) and board the A380 to go to the other side of the planet. There are a lot of very long haul flights, from a lot of airports using other aircraft types... 2. 9:17 - The A380 is not a history making concept. Boeing wanted to extend the upper deck of the 747 in the 90s, just like the a380, but then dropped the project.
Guilland23 3 months ago
I bet your Airbus next plane, like the 360 or 370, one or both will be a trijet like the MD-11, you heard it hear frist. Bombadier has taken the MD-90 like planes, Airbus has taken the MD-12 and soon, the trijets.
KangaKucha 3 months ago
This is what MDC was going to do with the MD-12, imho MDC was the best in civil aircraft, they made very good original planes like the MD-90 and tri jets like the MD-11. Too bad MDC bad rep prevented the company for been more sucessful.
KangaKucha 3 months ago
To all Böing fanboys, Böing isn't american, they're SAUERLÄNDER (ze germans), so is Airbus, sorry frenchies... So it doesn't matter, you root for Böing, you're rooting for ze germans, you're rooting for Airbus, you're rooting for the germans.

Y'know, if we clipped the wings and moved the engines (and built wide enough roads with high enough bridges), the A380 might've made an okay LAND vehicle (but watch out for tire changing...)
Rickyrab 4 months ago
It's important people remember that flying machines that only carry a small family could be built that fly long distances yet would be so much smaller than this a380. I think the way forward is for people to fly themselves in smaller aircraft rather than a big massive machine for hundreds of people. We could have special lanes built in public for takeoff and landing.

@210482fmj Which also means, more flying movement, and more chance for accidents.

A380 - Biggest passenger airliner ever made.

Europe continues to bet on the wrong horse.
hibob418 5 months ago
@hibob418 They seemed to bet on the right horse when it came to the re-engining of their single aisle A320. Boeing only followed by re-engineing their 737 to try and put a halt to Airbus' orders whitewash. However Southwest and Ryanair have both said they would have preferred Boeing to produce a new aircraft altogether.
Oh and BTW Concorde was profitable, in 1978 British Airways' fleet of 7 Concordes made up 25% of their annual profit! Now ain't that a shocker?
cheesemaster1000 5 months ago
@cheesemaster1000 *1987 not 1978
cheesemaster1000 5 months ago
@cheesemaster1000 My airline would make a profit, too, if I didn't have to pay for its equipment. The British & French governments ended up eating the billions in development costs for Concorde, and after no orders were forthcoming they divvied up the 14 production models up between Air France and British Airways. BA got theirs essentially for 1 pound each after it went private in, I believe, 1982.
I would've given anything to push the throttles forward on that beautiful, incredible machine.
hibob418 5 months ago
@hibob418 According to the British Airways website, BA paid more than £155 million for its concorde fleet (and that was in 1977)! The £1 figure is an old myth.
When I said profit, I meant net profit. The amount BA paid is irrelevant, the Concorde fleet still made up 25% of their net profit.
cheesemaster1000 5 months ago
@hibob418 Well no one has ever had the balls to make such a big airliner except the Europeans. If Europe betted on 'the wrong horse' then why did they implement Fly-By-Wire into an airliner (copied by Boeing) and family commonality into an aircraft? Why has that aircraft sold faster than ANY other airliner?
