I just watched this with my pet bird sitting on my shoulder. He nearly broke my eardrum chirping (more like screaming, on his part) back at the bird. He did not seem to care for the content, though - he ain't no dope. I love him, and Alfie here isn't too bad, either.
The models were modeled in Autodesk's Maya and Luxology's Modo and the animation was done in Maya. These are not free and very expensive software (well, at least Maya is expensive). If you would like to get involved with animation, I would suggest looking into Animation Mentor.
I have to agree with Caroleanne, this is fantastic. Well executed for sure, but more than that, it's just fun to watch. You hit the right beats and maintained the flavor of the original while injecting your own spin on it. Really well done.
I like the way Al looks at the bird. You're getting better and better with these hardly noticeale nuances that really breed life into animation. Remember me when you win the Oscar - I like chocolate doughnuts.
How did you divide the shots among different artists? Did you get a ready-made model and setting and "just" animated the motion?
@slilov, There was so much that went into the making of this short. I plan on creating a video that shows how this short came to be and the process for producing it. I'm hope people find the story interesting.

This is fantastic. Not only is the animation great but it's very humorous and I love the way the bird looks like Hitchcock. More, please.
