When the button came up to skip ahead I didn't bother. Very nice playing. It's good to see someone doing clean jazz soloing. You build up a lot of coordination and dexterity when playing complex jazz work clean. When you want to have a bit of fun you can always add a bit of grit and really go for it. : )
fantastic playing. have you got any idea where to find quality backing tracks like this to jam over? this is pretty much perfect in terms of the style im going for
@CurryPho Thank you!!! I can't remember the CD name, it was so long ago and regrettably i have lost it. I Know we sell them at the local store so I'll get back to ya ;)
The first chord is actually D Major. Yeah I know all you guys are saying E dorian is D Major but the fact is that an E minor 7 chord is not actually played in this track so the key is D major.
euhh i think it's mostly in D major.... on the Em7 chords you can play E dorian and A myxolydian on the A13... so the modes in this key are D Ionian, E Dorian, F# Phrygian, G Lydian, A myxolydian, B Eolian and C# Locrian! but really nice playing you sound really cool and smooth!!

I have been playing for a year...I only really know the pentatonic scale. I love this style of music that you are playing and I would like to know what scales do I need to know in order to play it.
@Swiftkillah1300 I should have a Lesson in my vids on this vid with a lesson on what I am playing here.
You need to know the Major scale and it's 7 modes. Then learn the Pentatonic scale and it's 5 modes. Put it all together and you have my playing field on here.
Thanks so much for this video ! I really liked your solo at the beginning and then you let us the possibility to improve our own solos as well....Cool song, Cool jazzy jam!
I think B minor fits more...since the A13 could be seen as the 7th chord of B-minor or the 5th chord of A major...anyway both scales have similar notes, but the C note doesnt sound right over the A13 chord.
Anyhow, great backing and thank you for uploadaing it :)
ha dude i defo want to give this a go, but im not very good at this. i should introduce backing tracks into my playing but for some reason i don't i just play dry. im busy today but im hoping to get a practices in tonight so i9 may give you a response then dude.

What scales are you paying over EM7 and A13? (great sound)
leadimprov 2 years ago
Thank You! I am playing the Major scale. I am playing in the Key of G Major which is E Minor.
I am using the Aeolian Mode at first then using some chord tones for lead lines... Also a Lot of Pentatonic modes.
Check out the Lesson Video Cool Jazzy Jam with Lesson!!!
I talk about technique and some riffs I play.
highintel 2 years ago
Actually no, I don't think E harm would work. I was thinking of E minor.

@highintel g major won't work as well as g lydian if you play lydian then that #4th makes the 7th note of the d major scale.
sheep740 1 year ago
@leadimprov
think of this as chord 2 and chord 5 of d major. so d major and all the modes based from that scale.
sheep740 1 year ago
@leadimprov think of this as chord 2 and 5 of d major. so d major and any of its modes will work.
