@killawaid The earth is certainly not overpopulated. Yes cities are crowded. If the reason there are more people is because of medical and technological breakthroughs that have helped people to live longer. But to state that the world is overpopulated is all a farce. Put it this way, you can fit the whole world into the entire state of Texas.
The issue here is if religious dogma should be enacted into law. Every attempt to mandate sexual morality has failed. The church cannot prove the existence of God, thus it cannot impose its beliefs on non believers. So let those who want abortion do it safely. The decision to have an abortion is between the mother, father, and their physician. The church needs to deal realistically with protection of the environment and overpopulation. That means getting realistic about family planning.
Come on over and visit me, "the Political Preacher," where we poke fun at religion just a little bit, but get serious about the politics. My new video is called, "Health Care Reform: It Ain't Gonna Work!" Shall we pray?
The "seamless garment" argument has been CONDEMNED by Cardinal Ratzinger.
Again, there is such a think as JUST wars and just capital punishment, as the Catholic Church teaches.
PS- There is no such thing as global warming. The world has been cooling since 1998. Stop repeating the nonsense you've been indoctrinated in and think for yourself.
I was not talking about a "seamless garment"--I am talking about consistently applying the gospel and the church's teachings to life and death issues--yes there can be a just war--I am waiting for the US to fight one since maybe WW2; even right wing popes like JP2 and Benedict 16 rejected US claims regarding the Gulf War 1 and the Iraq War. By the way, even in a just war or just cause for a war, there are severe restrictions on what even the USA can do morally.
You know, next time your send me a patronizing email like you did, as if I have not heard of the just war theory, try to think of these names: Dresden, Hamburg, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagasaki all destroyed by terrorists who hijacked planes of the US Army Air Corps and the British Air Force.
Well, you at least replied to the comment that I posted; that is clear from the context of your "answer"; thank you for signing the reply, and yes I already knew you were a Catholic In Name Only even without your use of obscenity.
Father, I know you are a toady of Bush, Cheney and the Republicans, but do you "pro-life" folks ever pray to end war--or cut a video promo maybe about it? You can take your pick of whatever war USA is involved in; by the way, are you happy the President of Hope and Change is expanding the war in Afghanistan? I missed your posting on the anniversary of the atomic attacks by US on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Just because he doesn't do anti-war videos, does not mean Fr. Pavone never prays for the end of war. Green Peace may not make videos criticizing the use of child soldiers in war, but would you send them an email regarding that? Of course not. The issue Fr. Pavone has chosen to tackle primarily is abortion, just like Green Peace has chosen the environment. This does not mean Fr. Pavone is not anti-war, or that Green Peace is not anti-child soldiers.
I wish he would come out publicly against war--including wars the US in involved in--but since Fr. Pavone makes no secret of his sympathy for the Republican Party, he has basicly taken the position that abortion is THE "life issue"--see how Bush ended abortion with a Republican majority in Congress. Let him condemn SOME war the US has been involved in--I'll make it easy--try the war in Vietnam--that one is over.
First of all, abortion is THE life issue- it kills about 4000 babies in the U.S.A. everyday- easily more than daily deaths as a result of the war in Iraq. Second of all, the Democrats aren't angels either: Truman ordered the dropping of 2 atomic bombs on Japanese civilians, Johnson made Vietnam a full-out war, and Clinton bombed that pharmaceutical plant in the Sudan. Oh yes, and Barack Obama has ordered rocket launches into Pakistan
Well, I agree the Democrats have a very bloody history and are adding to it; unfortuately, Truman had and to this day continues to have support especially in the Republican Party for the atomic attacks, the Republicans--Ronald Reagan was the best example-attributed the "loss" in Vietnam to betrayal by the left--so what is your point--that US imperialism and militarism is a bi-partisan venture? I agree. Are you really using a body count argument with me? Sounds like moral utilitarianism.
dude, the earth is overpopulated.

Diary of an Embryo
Day 1: Conception; all human chromosomes are present an unique human life begins
Day 22: Heart begins to beat with the child's own blood
Week 3: Backbone, spinal column & nervous system are forming
Week 7: Human embryo is kicking & swimming
Weeks 9-10: Fetus can turn his head frown & can hiccup & can "breathe" amniotic fluid & urinate
Fetus--Latin word for child
A human abortion kills--- a human being [with a heartbeat of its own].
