@Adiantor You've been watching too many Hollywood movies. When things are shot they just don't stop moving. The nerves and muscles will continue to fire for a while and the body will twitch after death has occurred. If he was alive you would know it these pigs scream bloody murder.
@Adiantor a good hunter waits a few minutes after hitting the animal in a vital spot. It is lawful and ethical. Blasting away at it until it stops moving is un lawful and unethical and brutal. Most animals will kick and twitch for a few minutes after they are dead , nerves quiver. Another reason not to keep shooting it is so it lays down and dies , if it is being shot multiple times it could get a burst of adrenaline and run and possibly not be found. That would be a bigger shame.

@cjhunterfisher Hey dumbass, unless you 've never been hunting, you should know that you don't just shoot a hog in any spot. You need to make sure you have a good clean head shot, behind the ear, or directly in the heart/lungs area right behind the shoulder. If you rush the shot, you could miss, or hit them in the gut. A gutshot will not fatally wound it. It will run off and if you keep looking, you'll eventually find the body, about 2 days later. You need to take your time to have a clean kill.

@jarheadkauai You're right. Hogs are tough to hunt without dogs because they are so nomadic. I found tons of hog sign (rooting and rubs) that were less than 24 hours old. I went back out and looked until 4am Saturday morning and didn't see a single one. Feeders improve the odds of eliminating them. Some people argue that you're just feeding the population with a feeder. That's bogus. If they weren't eating corn from the feeder, they'd be eating the forage that other native species need.

@cjhunterfisher Hey dumbass, unless you 've never been hunting, you should know that you don't just shoot a hog in any spot. You need to make sure you have a good clean head shot, behind the ear, or directly in the heart/lungs area right behind the shoulder. If you rush the shot, you could miss, or hit them in the gut. A gutshot will not fatally wound it. It will run off and if you keep looking, you'll eventually find the body, about 2 days later. You need to take your time to have a clean kill.

@jarheadkauai You're right. Hogs are tough to hunt without dogs because they are so nomadic. I found tons of hog sign (rooting and rubs) that were less than 24 hours old. I went back out and looked until 4am Saturday morning and didn't see a single one. Feeders improve the odds of eliminating them. Some people argue that you're just feeding the population with a feeder. That's bogus. If they weren't eating corn from the feeder, they'd be eating the forage that other native species need.
