  • thats a very interesting thing to say by mr. ennis. he really has nothing too good to say about the 2000 ad, seems to be one valid reason why they went bankrupt in the early 90s, i guess now its ALOT better than before. loved ennis work on hellblazer and preacher.

  • Isn't it about time they made the sequel to Judge Dredd the movie? I think it is and I can't wait to see Sly Stallone back in the role of Joe Dredd, the charactor he made famous.

  • I doubt anyone can top the body count on JUDGMENT DAY ...ennis had dredd kill 2 billion in one go , anwhoo judge joyce was funny ,

  • All the best Dredd stories were writen in the 1980's.

  • @anvilofcrom mostly yes but Judgement day,America and Total war are not stories to be sniffed at but i will say more recent stories seem to have lost the satirical edge of the earlier stuff.

  • His work with Dredd wasnt that bad. His Dredd stories were brutal and had mean violence. It must be tough writing a comic for a cop who is so morally and ethically straight edge. His Punisher got real close to the bad guy side which makes sense since Punisher is his own man, rather than being owned by a secret government like Dredd.

  • That's what makes Judge Dredd such a locus for dark comedy though, he's so extremely straight edge that the only way to 'enforce' his upstanding morals (don't smoke, don't swear, generally be nice etc.) is with EXTREME prejudice hehe

The Punisher is a straighter story about a man enforcing the law through violence, while Dredd is that notion taken to such an extreme that it becomes almost comical.

  • one mic to another best comic ever

  • I thought it was spelt Mick??

  • Yeah, his work on Dredd is decidedly mixed.

  • Believe me, you don't.

  • I had no idea Ennis did some Judge Dredd work, god I've REALLY gotta find it! lol

  • No way,Man,from 1991 onward is mostly Garth Ennis.I think he began writing Dredd around the time of Emerald Isle.Occasionally wagner and Grant have returned to the strip.Although I haven't read 2000ad a whole lot since that awful movie, you know the one.

I love some of his stuff. He can write great Dredd stories.

I love some of his other work,Preacher is excellent even if the culmination wasn't all that satisfying.

I love the Saint of Killers Origion Story. And the Good Old Boys.,Lol
