Neither bitcoins or silver can take hold as a currency as long as the bankers control the resources - namely oil and gas and other utilities. If people could get power to their homes with bitcoins, now THAT would change things!
@MoneyIsSilver The world is full of people who will tell you what you can´t do, simply because they see no way it could be done themselves. Energy suppliers are private companies too. If they see a ground swell of consumers waving fists full of bitcoin, they will eventually jump to attention.

@maxb8097 Silk Road is already heavily infiltrated. At the moment, law enforcement make up most of the vendors on there and the site is essentially a limited hangout.
The Central Banks will find a way to counterfeit the Bit-Coin and then demonize it publicly...No different than what they did to The Continental in the U.S.
@evoorhees I agree that a PR and smear tactic will be the #1 method to fight the bitcoin, but to say it 'can't be counterfeited is a dangerously ignorant assumption...no offense
we live in a dangerous time where 'they' can create a computer generated Pop-Star that everyone thinks is real, but in reality is a collage of body parts from other chinese girls
@swordsman3000 you cant counterfeit bitcoins because the coins themselves are just tokens, or numbers in a database. The reason you cant just add any amount of bitcoins to your account is that the majority of the network has to accept any and all transactions. This means the only thing to try and fake is a transaction, and the network will reject your fake transaction out of hand. You would have to convince the network to destroy the value of its own currency, or take it over.
It's too bad they only touched on all the good points and fail to mention all it's faults.
The Judge should have been told how Bitocins had just fallen to almost nothing in value & this is after Max Keiser promoted them!
Which I still can't believed he did but I guess all these Yter's & Max have THEIR reasons BUT I do understand current global financial situation, sound money & currency history and I'd have to be a Bitcrazy to buy Bitcoins!
@connectingdots1 By "fallen to almost nothing" do you actually mean up over 100% YoY, even after the recent decline? How did your investments do compared to that?
@coffeetablesex what are you talking about you sound like a damned fool. A) this is Fox Business, not Fox News. B) Napolitano and Brito were excellent - they discussed it very well, without harping on negative issues or sensationalizing anything. Clear, concise, and correct. Did you even watch the video or did you just assume it was wrong because it said Fox? Pretty lame if so.
@coffeetablesex You and I must not have watched the same video because I thought it was an excellent piece, very factual, also very broad audience friendly explained and very positive in tone. You also seem to not have any clue about who the good Judge Napolitano is and how Freedom watch is usually run..
the next step to the bitcoin client is have the market integrated to the software, so, we can have a decentralized digital market with our decentralized digital currency ;D
They were very quick to pull the rug out from wikileaks.
When I went to a technology presentation from Amazon - there was a guy who made the mistake of admitting he worked for a media organisation - despite his protestations that he was interested in the technical info he was quickly escorted out of the room as they have a 'different' presentation for press.
They claimed not being in any single political jurisdiction as an amazon services advantage that protects you from shutdown - yet when I asked about wikileaks they barked a short response about terms of service and wouldn't even discuss it. I wasn't raising it as a criticism at the time - I just wanted to understand the boundaries.
honestly as long as darknets are still using bitcoins as the main currency, the popularity will be shot down

@swordsman3000 They can't counterfeit a Bitcoin. What is far more likely is a PR war and smear campaign against Bitcoin usage.

evoorhees 3 months ago 2
@connectingdots1 Bitcoin is a currency, not an investment, so its rise and fall in comparison to more established currencies is irrelevant.
That said, bitcoin rose over 100% against the dollar over the last year, so go fuck yourself.
MoneyIsSilver 2 months ago
@connectingdots1 It's called volatility. If you don't know when to buy or when to sell then you should be doing it. Looks like its up 200% YoY.
