  • these dreads are ugly

  • white people with dreads bwwhahahaha

  • That video was my guide to make the dread that wears my gf on her head. Thank you!

  • Do me a favor and zoom in a little fucking more.

  • O.M.G. I've been surching for a real video how to do dreadlocks and this is the best that I found.10X dude

  • I'm trying to see how you avoid jabbing your fingers. I hooked my finger(s) more than once. There is also a pretty nice Portuguese video using a technique like this but with two needles side by side. Looks so quick....

  • you suck

  • Hey, thanks this was very helpful, could you post another video with how to re-touch roots when the hair grows. Cheers!

  • yo ise haci con mi mochila y me salio bien

  • parang gago ung camera man

  • not dreadlocks

  • @patchworkpork stop hating you troll.

  • @patchworkpork i think they are ..

  • -- That dudee look lykee mha cuhhzinn , thnx fo show`nn me now ikan fix his nappy ol` head lol

  • this is so wrong. crocheting ruins your hair. and to the people who think dreading requires never washing your hair, you're wrong. dirty hair won't dread. clean hair dreads best. and this is not the way to do it. neither is wax. you don't need anything. just stop brushing it. that's the natural way.

  • @maplemaroon09 no..i dont remember the last time i brushed my hair and i haqve straight hair. i wash it every days but my hair doesnt just dread by itself

  • @maplemaroon09 whats the best method bro and do you need a thick hair to have dreads? I really want to have dreads but my hair isnt very thick.

  • Baldy.

  • How did I get here?

  • I love it when different cultures exchange customs and ideas......it's beautiful to me, instead of fighting and bickering over who is better or less than. This video is beautiful in more ways than you think! Thank you for making my day!!

ps....a few years ago I was at the beach and saw a very blond beach surfer type guy with dreads down his back. He was very stunning to look at. If dreads are taken care of they look great on anyone!!

  • cool interesting procedure

  • i never got the point of dreadlocks.its basically a rats nest all around ur head.why the eff would u wanna walk around with a bunch of rats nests in ur hair??

  • where can i buy that crochet needle?

  • @amrijys94 maybe sally beauty supply, they should have it.

  • This method looks really effective.. Could've saved me a lot of time and effort with the metal comb. But whatever, my dreads turned out well anyway. Cheers for the demo.

  • Also.... does your teacher know you're hooking dreads in class? Is that allowed?

  • Interesting technique. I have never seen dreads done with a crochet hook like this before, but it looks like it does a lot tighter job than straight backcombing. If I could go back and start mine over, I think this would have saved me a lot of months!

  • Thats cool...I like this...I work in a natural hair shop and this is helpfull I will try this soon.

  • i hate the camera man coz i had a headache while watching.

  • why the hell is this guy getting his hair dreade in a class room??! XP

  • @AJTHEKINGful Because some people go to school to learn how to do hair. :)

  • yeah boo boo chill out

  • @siabroker explain the spiritual part of dread locks

  • I would have stabbed myself 9 seconds in....

  • the way u rounded it does not look like the hair will be growing no longer! lol

  • Dude didn't even backcomb it good enough! What I did was backcomb all the section of my hair, twist, then backcomb near the root of my hair again to make sure that it will stay then I crochet hooked it works great but my grandma HATES my dreads:) But I don't care because she's not my mom

  • Respond to this video... ur gay for lett n a man touch ur hair fag

  • @perezjdesi What about your barber..Im sure your hair is growing past your ass considering you either: never get it cut, or let women cut it.? Fucking ignorant fuckface ass bitch.

  • ok so i just got dreads and im hispanic and have shoulder length hair and it thick and curly....and some black lady did them but they look nothing like the ones in the video mine are think as hell like a black style hair is it posibble for me to get them like the ones in the video?if i dnt wash my hair and try to come these shitty dreads out

  • That's awesome! I would love for you to touch my dreads up sometime! Where are you located and how much do you charge to make them nice??

  • @TokyoDreamer88 Its really got nothing to do with culture, to me it's just a way to not have to deal with your hair when you're surfing and boarding and stuff. Plus it looks good on a lot of people

  • how can you wash the dreadlock?

  • @97GAP97 Like regular hair, more or less. The only differences are: You have to clean them very thoroughly, as if cleaning a sponge, and in the same regard, must let them dry thoroughly. Second, no regular, scented shampoos can be used, and no conditioners (for obvious reasons). The residues from the shampoo could stay in the dread, and cause mildew, dread rot, and bad smell. I wash with 3/4 cup of baking soda to 5 quarts of water, and my hair is cleaner than anybody else' that I know. :)

  • DREADLOCKS STINK LIKE SHIT, NO OFFENCE THEY JUST SMELL BAD!!

  • @Trainwreck1415 CAPS LOCK!!!!!!!!!! .

  • @Trainwreck1415 Tell me about, my friend accidentally spilled soda on my hair, now I have to wait to wash my hair...-_-...

  • @AngryPigFetus ha ha that sucks

  • @Trainwreck1415 I wash my dreads regularly and they don't have any sort of smell to them, they are practically scentless. I don't know who's dreads you've been around, but you might wanna tell them to wash their hair, because if they stink, that's straight-up nasty.

  • @reversededges25 ohhh i thought dreads were when you didnt wash your hair EVER, thats how i thought it got it ruggid look.

  • @Trainwreck1415 Not at all. Dreadlocks are made by not brushing or combing your hair, washing is absolutely necessary. Without washing, hair will get oily and greasy, and the knots won't be able to take form into a dreadlock, and of course, smell like shit, hahah! I clean deep into my dreads at least once a week, and they never smell at all. :)

  • @reversededges25 ha ha true true

  • very well made instructions, thank you

  • are u a teacher

  • Awesome, NICE ASS @3:40 LOL

  • lol....for the about the first5 sec. I thought that was a mannequin head

  • this is neat! im a hairstylist and have loc stright hair by back combing. how long is this process?

  • @mayee80 That's a question I'll ask a "hairstylist" :(

  • 1:12 thats what she said xD

  • I've tried everything and haven't gotten the results I wanted.. I guess I'm lookin for the hippie hair cuz I think they look great and I'm exited to find a new technique, I'll update u guys later and tag a photo of what I come up with

  • so i did this crotche hook technique and something that has been bugging me with dreadlocks is still happening. At the tips of the dreads i notice some hairs kinda popping out getting longer and longer as the days go by. If i pull them they come out as if they were not even attached to my scalp so im guessing these are the hairs that fallen out but kinda got caught in the dreadlock. Is this normal? what should i do? are my dreads not tight enough to hold in fallen hairs?

  • @killlagger468 thats 100% normal. you do nothing about it. except mabey just fix up the ends with back combing and wax or clay

  • @FinkFinx ahh its just iv been seeing peeps on yt with like PERFECT dreads not a single hair poppin out, maybe its cuz their dreas are older?

  • @killlagger468 yup just cuz theyr older and more mature.. ahh and if most of these peeps you see with perfect dreads are black.. well just dont worry about it cuz theres no competin with that shit.. and actually fuck wax just use clay. really good clay that contains zero petrolium

  • @FinkFinx How about we put NOTHING in our dreads? Dreads don't need wax or clay (wtf to that, as well). Wax doesn't hold hair together, hair holds hair together. They're ropes of knots and tangles, not sticky bullshit.

  • @reversededges25 well the "sticky bullshit" washes out in the shower... and all it does is HELP tangle and knot your dreads. im only saying ta use clay on imature dreads for the first 6 months or so, no need to continue after that. somtimes some people with brand new dreads need a more helping hand then the "all natural aproach"

  • @FinkFinx Clay is for firing, and wax is for candles, not for hair. Holding the hair in place with sticky substances restricts hair from moving and knotting, not help it. The reason that dreads "feel" tight with this stuff, is because all the residue builds up and hardens. It's a false tightness. I know people who have had their dreads for 10-20 years with no products, and they're completely healthy and mature. Wax (and clay, or whatever) is a scam by companies who don't know dreadlocks at all.

  • @killlagger468 These hairs will not get locked up and tightened into the locks until you stop crocheting. I'm sorry, but that's the truth. Crocheting is good for maybe the first month, just to help the dreadlocks stay tight while they're so new, but after that, I would cease any sort of maintenance. Dreadlocks form the tightest and healthiest when they're left to do their own thing. Go to dreadlockssite(.)com, it's a forum with everything you need to know about dreadlocks. :)

  • thanks for the info! I'm growing my hair out so I can dread it. It will be sometime next year until it's long enough. I ssooo wish that it was long enough now ;)

  • @1973heaven you could buy human hair and start them immediately if you want look at skillteacher video in thailand ~ good luck

  • cool concept

  • my hairs so short right now but i cant wait for it to grow so i can dread

  • that must've taken hours to finish....

  • lol.. white people trying to make their hair nappy and black people trying to make it str8... funny

  • @mythang03 lol man thats exactly what i was thinking the world is crazy lol

  • @mythang03 not all and black ppl dnt want white ppl nappy shit gota wash dat shit all da time

  • @mythang03 you make no sense... dreadlocked hair is nothing more than matted hair..... how are black people trying to make their hair straight because it happens to drape down.... and i can't speak for white people... but

nappy is just a term we use to describe our hair in it's natural state

  • @OrbitFighter boo boo.. im black i know what nappy means.. and i was referring to how black people- a good majority- used perms to make theie hair str8 and UNNATURAL . whites hair is naturally str8 for most. it was just a cheeky joke - chill oout

  • @mythang03 i'm cool... too bad you thought i was being negative

  • @OrbitFighter haha you didn't get the joke lmbo

  • @mythang03

Yeah man it funny but ppl should do what Dey like :)

  • why does it have to be a black or white thing?

  • @mythang03 lol... judgemental people in the 21st century str8... funny

  • @wushock1991 not being judgemental.. tht would mean i would have to give an opinion.. which i did not..clearly u didnt understand the reference..black people make their hair str8.. perming.. flat ironing from its natural state.. and as in the video white guy is making it kinky.. therefore an unnatrual staate... its called irony not judgement

  • @mythang03 well naturally for a white dude to lock his hair would be straight never washing your hair and thats fucking gross

  • @wushock1991 and THAT is your opinion. I actually know people tht got theirs started that way instead of this technique-which if you are doing the spritual journey is the right way to do it....I sense a little judgement from you dont i??

  • @mythang03 thats not being judgemental thats a fact

  • @wushock1991 lol.. nu uh!! thats YOUR opinion...

  • I was trying this today, but I wasnt successful :D

  • lol i never knew dreads were just knotted hair

  • is that an algebra teacher dreading a student's hair?

  • @floatingseeds What exactly did you expect? Dreads need time to mature and get soft. And how exactly do you manage to get them stuck on stuff?

  • That guy is gonna be sitting in that chair till saint smithens day.

  • for someone who doesnt have hair, you certainly know what your doin

  • If I had to go thru all of that to get locs I wouldn't do it. Stop combing, your hair and section it...youll have locs eventually.

  • hi man ..do u use any wax for this youth man ?? and wa lenght of hair can i start this with my lenght is about 3 inches !! ...thk u ..blessins frm jamica !!!!!!!!

  • @amierdolo thats why u palmroll , mine used to be spikey and now they are all soft :3

  • thanx man! ill do it by myself.. cus a friend of mine does it so bad...

  • hey... awesome tutorial. it was so useful to me. i have like 50 cm dreads now, made all by myself with your hints and tips.

i'd to know if its normal to fell them like a little pinchy, its like some knots are a bit too pointy.

maybe they'll wear off with time.

  • howesome to dreads

  • Bro Where Can i Get this done?

  • How long was your hair to start?

  • how hard is it to crochet hair into dreadlocks? is it like a first time catch on method or does it take lotst of practice to get the hang of it?

  • Ok my thing is I thought that white was post to wash their hair everyday because it gets oily or some sht like that. How would u maintain your roots lol. Hey I'm jus asking ima blk women with dreads and I couldnt wash my hair for 3 months. And it's such a compliment that white people like our dreads.

  • @blkgirlblues5150 I think it's awesome you take it as a compliment that we like your dreads!! Because that's what it is, we love your locks and we're jealous (at least that's my case). In my experience, I washed my hair a couple days after my locks, but I had to use baking soda, or a non-residue shampoo, one that wouldn't put any conditioners in my hair. And then, after having dreads for a couple weeks, my hair stopped producing so much oil! So it isn't necessary for everyday shampoos.

  • Dreads look so weird on straight hair..

  • how big must the needle be??

  • @t0ouan 1mm or so (I think anything between 1mm or 1.75mm will work)

  • i just bout a needle and i just realized its way to big so now i have to go back and get a smaller one tomorrow

  • God, that's so pailful! :)

  • how long is hair???

  • thats how i do it, but i stab myself like all the time

  • good videos

  • What the number f the needle do u use?? thanks

  • whats the size of the nedle your using?

  • "in and out, in and out"

  • dam i hate how white people dreadlocks look. (no racial) its just that since their hair is thinner then nappy hair its comes out fat and its just looks dirty. but its nothing against white people. but any way thats a good method

  • @MrDonSoPicaso you do realize that they have yet to mature right?

  • @MrDonSoPicaso i kno every one has their preferences, but please in the future be considerate of ppls feelings, this statement would easily cause an argument so just don't say it here please. think about it...

  • Hell, I wish I knew that technique back in the days I had dreadlocks

  • Just a question, if my hair is kinda thin, can I still get dreads?

  • great tutorial if you want to do someone elses hair, not so easy if you need to do your own... how many time have you stabbed yourself in the finger? lol

  • thank you baldylocks

  • it looks like hes at school =)

  • is there a special way to sleep or can i just sleep like normal thats what my problem was last time i had dreads.

    ~jrb~

  • @jrbandillneverswitch everyone seems to have their own way of doing it, i used to wear a hat but my dreads are too long for that now so i just sleep with them in a loose ponytail

  • @jackonmsn haha thank i had some before but different style but i got messed up when i slept with them so i had to take them out...

  • damn if you have to do all this ridiculous shit maybe your just isnt meant for dreads...

  • well ive had my dreads for a little over a year now, kinda wished i seen this before lol... back-combed mine think it was a little more maintenance than this one but too late now (my hair was pin straight) any one know if this helps for maintaining the roots??? cause its been a bitch for me soo far just backcombing them

  • @jerseyRJ if u did backcomb and used any kind of wax i would recommend the crochet needle or hook as ive heard it called for ur roots.

    ~jrb~

  • i have started my dreadlocks ive had them for about a week now and i just want to know...can i start washing my hair cause my scalp is starting to smell

  • @ducksinger Yes. Wash your hair regularly with a residue free shampoo. But the pressure of the shower may undo some knots so maybe your best bet is the faucet.

  • @ducksinger you should just wash between the dreads with your fingers and some odor free soap and water, at least thats what they told a friend of mine... also depends if you have waxed or hooked dreads though..

  • @xUxDontxKnowxMex thanks i did that and what size crouchet needle are you using

  • @ducksinger you're welcome, well I don't have dreads myself yet, but that friend uses a 1mm.. (:

  • @ducksinger okay and how close to the scalp should i make my dreads

  • i man tro de comb away fe get me locks, crazy baldheads go barba shop

  • im sorry, WTF is this really? I ju

  • i still say jamaicans know how to do dreads better because everywhere i went to get mines done fucced them up & they kept coming loose. the only places i went & had a great job done on mines was to hair salons owned by jamaicans. the lady did mines perfect & i didn't have to keep coming bacc every week to get them fixed. i only go bacc once a month to get them cleaned & re-twisted

  • its great to use the needle to start the dreadlocks but like drumhazz just said above it can be messy-which makes people want to cut their dread off. Please let people know that if they do get a bit frustrated with the cohesiveness of their locks, just get the Take Down Remover. That way they can comb them out and re-do them with your needle technique

  • Hey can someone come dread my hair in the middle of a school classroom?

    thanks.

    hahahhaa

  • @TheVanityDollx its probably a hair school smart one.:)

  • @DaniiWayy00 Theres algebra books in the background, smart one(:

  • will a 1mm crochet hook work? looked for a .7mm but 1mm is the smallest I could find.

  • i have a question. when the hair grows, do you have to lock the newly grown hair again?

  • @TheOrionCDO The new growth is suppose to locked, but his technique is not done the proper way. the roots should be palm rolled after a locking gel is applied. Using this crochet needle is causing breakage to each strand.

  • Looks like his head got crapped on, tbh. I don't think i dig this method <_<;

  • SMH @ Technique, SMH, Looks a mess, But HEY,,, It's his hair eh ? LMAO

  • caveman had dreads lol

  • this is the most inefficient method of dreading.

  • wow..i wanted to see the finished product!!

    this must take forever too!!

  • great method! just wondering who told these pople that dreds were suppose to be healthy!!!its dead hair ! I dint know a hairstyle could be a black or white thing?? I will b glad when veryone leaves thir trailor park homs and ghettos to come outside to the real world!

  • @charajoyner well said

  • @charajoyner hair is hair is it not-don't matter what colour skin ya got-if everyone in the world ditched their combs n conditioners we'd all end up wi dreadlock

  • @charajoyner If cared for using the proper methods and products dreadlocks are actualy a very heathly hairstyle. Natural dreads do not require the use of any chemical processes making them better for your scalp than any hair style that requires your hair to be chemically permed or straightened. The residue free soaps that dreadlocks are washed in actually increase hair growth and cause hair to grow thicker and faster by removing residue from the hair folicles. So It's not dead.

  • @charajoyner i get what you saying but dude , admit locks don't look natural on most whites ,on some yeah

but on most, no they have that Frizzy look .like it never does quite lock in

  • @free2mention not true i have mad curly hair and i've had locs before they looked just as good as blacks? doesnt matter your color of skin its the hair type because most whites dont have curly hair and it doesnt lock well

  • @jamaldacamel108 ... your so right ,it is the hair type, and like i said, MOST don't look right because of it

but when i do see whites with locks with that type of kinky hair, that shits flesh, but the ones with straight hair with frizzy locks man , it's just wrong ," crampin the style" most bogus my friend .. do they realize it ? i think so

  • This tutorial is not needed for black people hair! THANKS

  • This tutorial is not needed for black people hair!

  • how to remove dreads

  • Do you have locs?

  • Have you ever accidently stabbed the needle thru your finger? I was doing one of my dreads that wer at the back of my head (so i was just going by feel) and next thing oh shit, the crochet needle is standing up out of my finger. Just wondering seen as you do yours like i did mine.

  • wry nice n cool work man

  • whats the minimum length to grow dreadies this way?

  • 0:35 HURRR DERRRP in the back.

  • ya

  • @itzEXE HAHAHAHAHA

  • @itzEXE X<#3

  • Nothing like plane ole no maintenance. No more combing or brushing. The hair will naturally lock on it's own...That's the best technique of all...
