  • What is the name of the first song?

  • @TXsharon this piece just proves that you don't have a clue about the natural gas industry. I think you are complaining about pipeline right-of-ways, how about the roads and highways across the country? Besides some land owner got paid for that ROW and they still can use the land for farming or ranching. Can't do that with a highway. Some mineral owner got paid for the land to drill the wells and get a protion of the income derives from that production. Again sounds like a pretty good deal.

  • @sharon Also how about the thousands of jobs created with this drilling. Got any suggestions about how you would replace those jobs?

I am all in for alternative energy but they ALL have major limitations. Can not power an airplane with a windmill, can not power a city at night with solar power, They are very expensive supplements. We will be using fossil fuels fro a very long time. Natural Gas happens to be the cheapest to find and the cleanest.

  • I love to see those gas wells being drilled and produced. Drill baby drill!

  • IDK how I feel about this.My BF works @ oil rig,so it's our livelyhood, but so is the family farm we have w/cattle on 600acr.I HATE it when ppl sell their land to developers!Puttin up subdivisions=cityppl & concrete. So I can understand why you wdnt like the sites, but aren't the rigs on land owned by some1 allowing it? Don't the counties benefit from the profit? Its a hard life but w/today's economy it's not possible for him to quit his job. It's a stable job & keeps millions of families alive:/

  • This place looks tight!!!!

  • Liberal propaganda. Do you use energy other than water wheels or are you a hypocrite?

  • @HorseCents Propaganda? It's just photos of drilling locations. How is that propaganda?

  • @TXsharon, oh, it's more than just photos. You want to shut out blue collar America from the American dream on the pretense of saving nature, as if nature is more important than money.

  • @HorseCents Are you joking?

  • @TXsharon Thanks Heaps for the video..these drills are springing up everywhere in Australia, we are frantically forming action groups to get rid of them but they are like a plague. Appalling to see how close they are allowed to a lake, a bay or a dam in the background? Very very scary indeed. Cant believe what a job these corporations are doing on your poor people..bet the CEO,s dont live anywhere round there!

  • @cazzajecko Hey there! Keep fighting this because it only gets worse and worse. At first it's only a few drill sites and a pipeline or two, then comes all the other infrastructure and your whole countryside is covered. Your water will be gone or contaminated and your air will be bad. They don't know what to do with all the solid waste so they spread it on farmland and call it "landfarming." Some areas in N. Texas are no longer inhabitable.

  • @TXsharon I think HorseCents was referring to the music that goes with the video, which IS pretty much propaganda. The same people who protest against oil and gas production also drive their gasoline powered vehicles everyday.

  • @mrshower1 I wish I had the ability to remove your ignorant, intolerant comment.

  • I dont think they are fossils fuels rather they are simply boiling the aquifers with a cocktail of of crap left over from the refineries the shale is cooked to 500' or more & bombarded with neutrons @ high pressure then theres the radioactive tracer thats just plain stupid, those are crimes against humanity.

  • I say that the industry is not only "fracking" these fossil fuel deposits, but they are intentionally "reacting" these deposits with chemicals/catalysts that generate producer "gas" from low grade coal deposits. The main reason for the exemption from the Safe Drinking Water Act,,,,they are intentionally injecting/leaving chemicals/catalyst into these deposits that slowly dissolve/convert the coal shale to various forms of gases.

  • Sooooooooooooooooooo, this video is about what exactly????

  • Natural gas can power the world for about 150 more years HOWEVER, what good will it be if we have poisoned our cattle, water and air supplies? Notice I'm a beef eater? Gotta have clean cattle man! Make the price of dirty fossil fuels reflect the true costs (BP). Mandate Vapor Recovery Systems at the very least.

  • AT CURRENT RATES OF CONSUMPTION , there is no substitute for oil. No alternatives. It is impossible to produce energy at the rate we use oil and gas and the demand is growing constantly every day. We can't make enough synthetics, nuclear power plants, ethanol, solar, wind, tidal, hydroelectric, you name it, to sustain 7 billion people. A population correction is eminent! Don't put your faith in technology. It's already to late.

  • Some of these comments are outrageous. What's even worse that a percentage of people voting in this country share the close mindedness this video is promoting. Harvesting natural gas is a means for technological advancement, something this country desperatly needs. Get over it...really...grass grows back.

  • @CJAMC7 Yeah, you're right. We'll just invent some imitation water.

  • @CJAMC7 I'm with you brother. Outrageous. Luckily for them, even the wackos get a chance at expressing themselves.

  • @CJAMC7 people like you will kill us all in one generation

  • Awesome arial photos! I'm assuming, and correct me if I'm wrong, some machine running on some sort of hydrocarbon was used to take these pictures. How can you sleep at night knowing that the propaganda you are trying to spread was made possible by the technology you are trying to kill? Sounds a little hipocritical to me.

  • Kidding, right?

  • Natural Gas is NOT a fossil fuel, but a naturally occurring gas that comes from the earth much like other gasses. Demagoguery !

  • My God, the people of this area (if there are any in the future) are surely going to regret this travesty. The Earth offered herself to them and they raped Her! What happens to all of this mess when the gas is gone? NOW.... Imagine the dust, the noise, the traffic and the people ("this will create jobs" mantra supporters) who will be without jobs when the rape is done. How sad.....how sad.......and I am NOT a liberal!

  • The oil cartels are not killing inventors of new amenities. Even if these so-called inventors of marvelous things are out there right now, you will still have to use fossil fuels to get there. It would be great if we could call on the magic fairy and, woosh, not use fossil fuels tomorrow. If you want to make your statement, don't use the any of the fossil fuels in any way that you are bitching about. Better yet, leave and go to another third world country.

  • @bluefordy Let me see if I follow you: Because we use fossil fuels we are not allowed to advocate for best industry practices that will protect our air, water and property rights. We must allow the fossil fuel industry to pollute freely and destroy our property. Does that about sum up your position?

  • @TXsharon It's keeping you employed.

  • @FortNelsonPete OH! So then I should just ignore the contaminated water and toxic emissions??? Ahm, I can multitask and industry can do better at protecting our vital natural resources.

  • @TXsharon Ha!! You're funny. Better stop flushing your toilet ot you'll be contributing to the problem too. Hypocrite.

  • @FortNelsonPete That's a fallacy of logic there, Pete, to call someone a hypocrite because they advocate for best practices. Industry can do a better job of extracting natural gas and protecting our vital natural resources.

  • Comment removed

  • @FortNelsonPete Pete, clearly YOU are missing the point. With so many sources of contamination all around us it makes no sense to allow this industry to operate with reckless abandon when technology is readily available to make it cleaner and safer.

  • Not to start a huge argument; but, the information contained in this video is not completely accurate. The correct information is available. I am only presenting facts, you decide for yourself. Should you choose want truth rather than opinion....."The truth is out there" - The X-Files.

  • Why don't you prove your your point by not driving a car, using your computer, or just plain quit using all modern amenities, because they all used fossil fuels to get us where we are at today you fucking idiot. Please die soon liberals.

  • So, let me see if I get your point: Because we use fossil fuels, we have to allow oil and gas corporations to run rough-shod over us and ruin our air, water, soil and wild spaces. Does that about sum it up?

  • @bluefordy Actually, there are many, many alternatives if the inventors would stop getting killed by the oil cartels, if the mainstream media were not just bought and paid for shills.

Yeah, I use a car, that is how we were all raised, but their are alternatives, do not put someone down for showing the truth. Search on google: commutefaster2

  • Amazing perspective, good vid. As a side note regarding production, text color was difficult to read. Might want to try white with a surrounding back shadow or something similar. But the message of the video itself was very good, thanks for sharing. Who took the photos?

  • Oilfield (barnett shale) Trash and PROUDOF IT!!!!!

    Drill baby Drill!!!!

  • @Kryptonite357

Please be careful and wear a respirator when fracking. Your family needs you to stay safe.

  • @Kryptonite357 it's "proud of it!!!" take your time typing LOL. And yes be proud for the hard work you do for your family, us "roughneck wifeys" miss you guys when you're gone! Drill baby drill...then hammer down and get home!

  • what's the name of the song in the first half of your video and who's singing it?

  • The Song is "The man who sold the moon." sung by Sally Ackerman of The Ackerman's

  • it has only been the last 50 years or so in our whole history as humans on this earth that we've suddenly needed these things... makes one chuckle and think that we must be far less capable than those who went before us... and far more distracted too.

  • we do not need ever increasing energy. if the supply simply stopped expanding, we would adjust and survive well. all of history has taught us this. therefore, it is the profiteers who push increasing supply. if there we no longer enough energy to supply extra gadgets. we would stop using extra gadgets.

  • great work - the excuses of "we are addicted to ever increasing energy demand so where else are we gonna get our fix" is pretty lousy. our addiction does not justify itself nor does it justify the means to the supply.

  • AMEN!

Ditto the ever increasing GROW the economy. At some point we have to say enough.

  • You might want to go watch the slide show on my blog or look at a few of the thousands of pictures I have. It's good that your experience has been different but I can assure you that your experience is unique. Just go look at the pictures.

  • I am unaware of any abandoned frac pits in my paticular region. All the pits that i have been around(other than reserve pits) have been lined and are shortly reclaimed after use. Meaning all fluids were drained and taken to a WM facility and the holes were covered. But i can only speak for what i see in my own area. As i have mentioned on other posts though, apparently other regions of the RRC aren't mandated as closely.

  • Ok, first of all, in complete and total disreguard to the video let me first begin to comment on the comments. First of all Pickens has admittedly turned almost all of his investment toward other fuels, and almost completely withdrew investment on oil. Second, for all of you who are complaining about the laws that are "too leinent" on drilling regulations, should probably have a look at the Texas Rail Road Commision website, its millions of pages of rules and regulations that are CLOSELY watched.

  • You are right! The TRC has some good rules but they don't enforce them. For example: if you watch the video you will see all the waste pits and it's obvious that many of them have been abandoned.

The TRC does not regulate hydraulic fracturing fluid at all and they do not require lining on the pits or fencing around them.

  • Nat gas production may not be a thing of beauty, but it's a whole lot prettier than all the freakin' windmills that are currently destroying the rugged beauty of west Texas.

Someday it will all be solar. Until then, we need to get our power from somewhere.

Do you have any proposals for viable alternative to nat gas?

  • We need MUCH TOUGHER REGULATION of the oil and gas industry! Right now they have exemptions from most of our federal environmental laws. These are exemptions that other industries don't have.

  • doe. gov

    How Was Natural Gas Formed?

Millions of years ago, the remains of plants and animals decayed and built up in thick layers. This decayed matter from plants and animals is called organic material -- it was once alive. Over time, the mud and soil changed to rock, covered the organic material and trapped it beneath the rock. Pressure and heat changed some of this organic material into coal, some into oil (petroleum), and some into natural gas -- tiny bubbles of odorless gas.

  • now get in your areo plany and fly over dallas fortworth and take some shots....... at 2.17 that sludge pit is a fresh water pond with a black plastic liner for water to supply frac operations . its pumped thru those mean ol lookin pipes in you other videos

  • Hydraulic fracture chemicals contain endocrine disruptors that cause undescended testicles and penis deformities. Endocrine disruptors are just one of the many concerns surrounding chemicals used by the oil and gas industry.

Endocrine disruptors act as estrogen and seem to have a dramatic affect on fetal development in males. There are large increases in undescended testicles and penis deformities in humans.

  • 1.19 thats close to my house noone killed or seriously injured ......rumor has it tree hugger from wise co caused it??????? dont have solid proof though so im not gona post video

  • If T. Boone Pickens gets his way, all of America will become industrialized like N. Texas. Natural gas is not a clean energy.

  • Thank you for taking the time to develop this video which so clearly shows what we cannot see from the ground. This is what God sees. Such shame. Such disregard for life.

  • The voice of Sally Ackerman and their lyrics have never been as clear as when listening while watching this footage.

  • This is a work of admirable dedication to a vitally important cause, as the threats to our environmental safety: to our most precious and vital resource, water, to clean (breathable) air, to the earth that sustains us, to the quality of Life Itself, from hydraulic fracturing seem to be being somehow suppressed in the media... leaving the job of full disclosure to committed independent reports, like this one. This is a gift of the present to the future. Thank you!
