Everything you said is all about the superficial aspects of just about any Shonen anime. The reason I am so many other non-preteens like Naruto is the underlying story. Have you watched anything past the original series? Or read the manga?
When it gets to the point where Naruto is fighting the lower-level Akatsuki members up until te Naruto/Pain battle, and beyond, when Naruto learns what the real truth is behind his birth, etc., the storyline rivals anything I've ever seen in 30+ years of watching/reading SF&F. Also, it helps to watch it with subs, since dubs can't HELP but ruin any anime.

@killingspeerx Dead or Alive wasn't around until about 6-7 years after this was released. DOA came out in '97/'98, before Itagaki joined a new Team Ninja. The date tells you why the animation "sucks", as you said.

They made Ryu kind of an asshole in this, but the one that really acts out of character is Irene. She went from a C.I.A. agent that investigates super natural doomsday plots to a timid little girl that seems like she's almost afraid of her own gun.

I notice a lot of Naruto bashing on this vid's comments. Yes, Ryu could kill Naruto, Kakashi, and probably half the characters in the anime before he even broke a sweat, but I wouldn't go so far as to say Naruto sucks. At least until Shippuden. (I refer to the anime, not the character. Naruto sucks as a ninja, agreed.)
In any case, I am HIGHLY impressed with the video so far. It doesn't rely on special attacks and flare - just straight-up ass-kicking n plot. I dig it like an archaeologist.

@killingspeerx Dead or Alive wasn't around until about 6-7 years after this was released. DOA came out in '97/'98, before Itagaki joined a new Team Ninja. The date tells you why the animation "sucks", as you said.

Ninja Scroll is famous but not for being an accurate depiction of a ninja even if the protagonist is one, it is more about mysticism and magic. It is famous for having scenes with lots of nudity. Therefore, stating that this series is REAL is plain dumb. Real implies realism.
You were half right, though. Ninja Gaiden OVA is a REAL ninja anime.

They made Ryu kind of an asshole in this, but the one that really acts out of character is Irene. She went from a C.I.A. agent that investigates super natural doomsday plots to a timid little girl that seems like she's almost afraid of her own gun.

@jaymnhhngbfs waaaaait. This is confusing. So the Xbox Ninja Gaidens and the NES Ninja Gaiden games ARE actually connected story wise? I was under the impression that the games were unrelated and the Xbox games were a reimagining of the series. But I just wikied it and the creators did suggest that the xbox games were a prequel to the NES games, but at first intended for it to be a reimagining :-p lol. Confusing but thanks for the info. I guess they are connected after all.....:-)

I notice a lot of Naruto bashing on this vid's comments. Yes, Ryu could kill Naruto, Kakashi, and probably half the characters in the anime before he even broke a sweat, but I wouldn't go so far as to say Naruto sucks. At least until Shippuden. (I refer to the anime, not the character. Naruto sucks as a ninja, agreed.)
In any case, I am HIGHLY impressed with the video so far. It doesn't rely on special attacks and flare - just straight-up ass-kicking n plot. I dig it like an archaeologist.
