I have not had the car on the dyno, as I have done all of my race tuning at the dragstrip, but according to various horsepower calculators... based on my race weight of 2800 lbs with me in the car... roughly 670 rwhp

My best time of 8.91 @ 153.6 mph and same race weight yields roughly 790 rwhp

@xxbulaxx - Car doesn't have a transbrake and is foot-braked, thus saving the shock on the rear end. R200 held up perfectly, until I chose to go to the R230. My old R200 setup is happily residing in another turbo Z now :-)

Yep, Jim Langdon at Dover Cylinder Head in Orlando does my engine work, and has for the last 10 years or so. I relocated to PA and still took my engine down to him. In fact, it is there now getting a full refresh. :-)

@ZGad It really depends on what state he's in. In CA it would be illegal, hands down. Just because a chassis is 75 or older doesn't make it smog equipment exempt, it makes it smog bi-annual TESTING exempt. You should really look at the laws before you go correcting people. ;-) In CA though he could get his BAR swap label, but even in the factory car that engine came in raising the boost is against the law. Doesn't stop people from doing it, but that doesn't change the law.

@schlaznger1 - the same as any other engine swap, mounting the engine and trans are the tough part. It fits surprisingly well, as there is a lot of space in the Z engine bay :-)

actually you can run any motor you want as long as it will pass emissions. laws vary by state though. in cali you're probably stuck with the stock motor unless you tip the guy doing your smog test. you should read more carefully on what those forums say=] and only the whole skyline is illegal except for 96-98 gtr and gtst models

lols dude the engine specs depend on where you live. there are soooo many ppl with rb swaps in the states. its just smog that has to be worried about. if you have that engine, have no paper work. and are caught racing with in in lets say...cali.. your car is going to be crushed. if your using it as a daily driver. and in cali... your car will still get crushed. since cali is a bitch about aftermarket parts. in texas, i know ppl that drive skylines and have swaps that cant get in trouble.

With the stock internals and the standard 6 spd from an RZ, close to 1000hp believe it or not. this is why these engines are so reputable! ridiculous amounts of power can be achieved.. just look up some of the Gas motorsports 2J's ;)

Availability of parts, heat of the turbo on the passenger's side as opposed to driver's side, no interference problems with steering shaft, 3 liters as opposed to 2.6, and most of all, didn't really matter to me that it was not Nissan. :-)

How did they fit the engine into a 240Z? The Z had the Nissan L series inline six engine to begin with. A 2J isn't very different in external dimension. All GM transmissions have short bellhousings with the same bolt pattern and they make adapter plates to go from almost every engine to a GM transmission.
