i love watching obedient dog tricks, but this was not entertaining to me. whats worse is that i feel that this type of training is actually very cruel to the dog. its a master enforcing dominance and this is not an activity that is in any way enjoyable for a dog.

why do you disapprove of this dog training?

the reason i feel this way is because to a human, its somewhat easy for us to smell food and wait to eat it. but a dogs sense of smell is so much stronger than a human, to them sniffing it might almost be like tasting it. would you like it if someone gave you some food and told you to chew on it for 5 minutes before you could swallow it? when you chew food the desire to swallow it is so strong.....

A person that has trained themself to hold food in his mouth and chew on it for a few minutes could do just fine. im not saying you could just throw a normal untrained dog into that situaltion, training makes everything. And if this dog had a proablem with what the owner was saying his body language would change. he would trow his head up and probabaly bark in frustration. this dog is just fine!
